- The second season of "The House of the Dragon" is set to premiere in just one month, accompanied by the publication of a new trailer. This trailer follows the previously released "Black and Green" trailers. In the brief teaser for the series, we were able to observe the complete physical appearance of two distinct and splendid dragons. Although they may not rank among the largest or even the top 5 dragons in this genre, these creatures nevertheless hold significant importance in the show's storyline. In this video, we will study the footage of Moondancer and Sunfyre in order to determine their respective sizes.

Sunfyre's size can be explained by the fact that Sunfyre is one of the few dragons to have directly hatched in the Dragonmont of Dragonstone. Sunfyre was born as a wild dragon just like Cannibal, Sheepstealer, ect...
The rest: Seasmoke, Syrax, Arrax, Vermax, Tyraxes, Stormcloud, Morghul, Shrykos, Moondancer, Morning were hatched with their riders. They are very domestic, almost all of them are gave food by the dragonkeepers and never hunts. Dragons can experience slower growth when they're locked up. The Targaryen dragons housed in the Dragonpit, in King's Landing do not grow as large as dragons left free to fly as they wish.
Well said!
É o q eu falo! 🤙🤝👏👏👏
except syrax is explicitly stated to be a considerably large dragon in the books. half the size of caraxes who is also supposed to be bigger in the books as well. the showrunners have already said the reasoning for syrax in particular not being bigger was due to budgetary constraints.
Sunfyre was not a wild dragon. How did you come to that?
2:29 Sunfyre's pink and blue scales on his neck are so gorgeous
He was described as the most beautiful dragon ever in the books. I’m glad they stayed true and was always hyped to see this dragon although we only got to see sunfyre for like 10 seconds in the first season.
@@Iceinabottle He is going to be brown in the show. Do you really think Ryan Condal would give Team Green something nice to look at?
Dragon sizes from smaller to bigger IN THE SHOW:
Moondancer
Vermax
Syrax
Sunfyre
Seasmoke
Meleys (thicker)
Caraxes (longer)
But both red beauties are most probably same size
Vermithor
Vhagar
Note: i didn’t mention Dreamfyre because it's hard to tell the true size of her from what we've seen so far.
We saw Dreamfyre in episode 7 in 2 shots and she wasn’t much bigger than sunfyre (who was 13 at the time if a cradle egg) so just after seasmoke is where dreamy would be.
Dreamfyre is bigger than Caraxes and Meleys but smaller than Vermithor
@@dennisaerob def not lol the show is not the book. Caraxes is much bigger than syrax and syrax was around the same size as Dreamfyre in ep 7
Moondancer is a beautiful name for a dragon.
I’ve missed your dragon videos so much. Can’t wait for season 2 dragon analysis videos
Unless Sunfyre was already hatched way before Aegon was born, Sunfyre has no right to be shown so much bigger than Syrax no matter how much faster he grew.
The f are you talking about , Vhagar was 20 years older than Maraxes yet it was smaller ! Dragons grow according to freedom to fly and hunt not age !
Sunfyre could easily have been born before Aegons birth. Sunfyre wasn’t a cradle egg, he was found by Aegon on Dragonstones volcano. So for all we know he was born the same time as Syrax.
@@Savage-nv6wr That’s not true. We have no evidence of Vhagar being older for Meraxes wasn’t given a date of hatching. It’s just said she was born in the century of blood. That could be before or after Vhagar.
U don't read the book huh
@@joshuaadams6565absolutely. False sunder was the egg the black queen picked out for her dead new born brother
Where can I find that drawing with all dragons to scale?
syrax lack of growth is really detrimental to rhaenyras characters because it means she has neglected her & kept her chained/ kept in the dragonpit/mont
She’s allowed to free fly on dragonstone lol
And book rhaenyra flew syrax more than any other young dragon rider. She literally flew everyday with daemon and Laena
@@quailjailss yeah but its been shown & said that free dragons grow rapidly compared to captive one so makes you wonder why they decided to keep syrax basically the same size
@@ngin98 for the simple fact to keep her smaller. Sunfyre was born and kept in the dragon pit. Theres no reason he should be as big as he is. Vermax and arrax should have been larger since they were moved to dragonstone where the dragons thrive. They simply increased Sunfyre’s size for rooks rest. Syrax was probably just a victim of the budget, as she finally looks larger in the trailers. Especially the scene on the beach and in the dragonmont
@@quailjailss yeah agree on sunfyre but also for syrax I do believe they kept her smaller just so she could land in the bridge in dragonstome for the finale to have the parallel to episode 2 😂
@@quailjailssSunfyre was born as a wild dragon in a vulcano . He could be older then Seasmoke and Syrax , it's explains why he's bigger then them and closer to Meleys and Caraxes size . Maybe he's like 40-50 years old
Sunfyre is far too beautiful for a worm like Aegon
no one rlly posts about vermithor at the end of trailer? he looks so badass
I can’t tell if Moondancer is a syrax baby or Meleys.
I don’t believe she’s a vhagar baby like some say lolz. Vhagar is at the end of her life she wasn’t laying eggs. I think Laena could have either gotten eggs for her twins from her mother or from laenor by asking rhaenyra for eggs from syrax, since syrax was producing eggs during this time.
they store dragon eggs.and dragon eggs can be stored even centuries.
@@richardrahl1919 well no, I’m sure just as anything they stay viable for hatching for an amount of time, like say as long as a dragons lifespan maybe.
Also all unclaimed dragons and their eggs belong to the crown by default. We learn that in fire and blood during jaehaerys reign. So unless you were a prince or princess you weren’t gonna get a cradle egg. Now if your own dragon was producing eggs then of course your children could get a cradle egg this way. Just saying not all Valyrians were entitled to dragon eggs that were stored in the dragon pit in KL or the dragonmont on dragonstone
Which is why I think she hatched from either meleys egg or Syrax’s
We don’t hear of meleys specifically laying eggs but that’s noted in fire and blood how they told their sex was if they laid or not and even George states that “several of the she dragons” were laying clutches of eggs, not just dreamy and syrax.
Why do you say Vhagar is at the end of her life? In the lore, dragons live for as long as they can move. Balerion was a bit bigger than Vhagar currently is before he died a few decades ago so Vhagar likely had many more years to live. And unlike humans, dragon bodies do no weaken with time, they get stronger and bigger except you are implying that female dragons go through menopause and Vhagar has hit that.
@@rexibhazoboa7097 oh how silly, okay let’s break this down. In the show the producers have said the larger the dragon the more they “fall apart” or wear down with size. We know for a fact that vhagar has almost reached balerions size. And no , they don’t live “as long as they can move” there’s nothing in the book or show that implies that. It was clear when Balerion was approaching the end of his lifespan. No creature lives forever. Just like any animal that grows older Balerion stopped flying as much.
So since vhagar is approaching his size she is also falling apart more and more. Just as vermithor looks more worn down than dreamfyre bc of his size even though she’s older than him.
There is no indication that a dragon as old as vhagar would still produce eggs lol. Since George has kept a lot of things about the dragons as realistic as possible, it’s implied that she’s near the end of her lifespan as well and creatures near death aren’t still reproducing.
More than likely Syrax
At first I thought the thumbnail dragon is GHIDORAH then I notice it doesn't have three heads
I think the dragon egg that Daemon took that was supposed to be Baelons that Rhaenyra got back from Daemon on Dragonstone is the egg that Sunfyre came from
I doubt it seeing as it came from DreamWorks and Sunfyre looks a lot like Syrax.
That egg was taking back to the dragonpit. Sunfyre hatched on dragonstone as a WILD dragon. So it definitely isn't Syrax egg.
@@rexibhazoboa7097 Sunfyre was not a wild dragon. How did you come to that?
@@Aleks-ti8vy Maybe because Sunfyre hatched a few years earlier then Aegon was born and stayed unclaimed until Aegon? Are they considered wild until claimed?
@@yunakiyoshi2610 Yes, that was true, Aegon was a teenager when he bonded with Sunfyre, but he was not a wild dragon. He was hatched like any other Targaryen dragon under the care of dragon keepers.
Great capturing you definitely did good at pausing and screen shooting the photos but you are totally reaching way to early for this
Can we have a video of how big Syrah and sea smoke grew 😁
i hope include mythical creatures in romanian folklore please!!!
In the show they make sunfyre brownish golden
They aren't skilled enough to make Sunfyre look as beautiful as they are described without sacrificing realism. But let us wait till it comes out. Who knows, maybe they animated the dragons movements to be gracious and used pleasant angles to show him. Kinda how they film pretty people in hollywood.
Talvez as escamas dele seja mais dourado e com as membranas rosa como foi dito no livro, pois a Moondancer no primeiro trailer era diferente.
@@rexibhazoboa7097what are you on about? The shows design is amazing in the shots where Sunfyre is in daylight
W man
ok so they said we would see 5 new dragons in season 2 so far we have
1. Sunfyre
2. Vermithor
3. Moondancer
4. Stormcloud ?? (heard we would see it being hatched)
5. Sheepstealer ?? (if the rhaena leaks are to be true)
Sunfyre , Moondancer , Vermithor , Silverwing , Sheepstealer probably
@@nicksmithnutmilk I wanna see silverwing is she about the same soze as vermithor ?? I love big dragons
@@ngin98 yeah , they're close in age and size
@@ngin98 Yeah, Silverwing is big
We already saw Sunfyre in season 1
It's Silverwing, Sheepstealer, Cannibal, Moondancer and maybe Dreamfyre but we already saw her in season 1 or Grey ghost.
Such a beautiful dragon for such a horrible rider…
Episode 200
👏👏👏👍
👍🏽
Not sure about how big, but Brownfyre is certainly neither golden nor pink.
Didn’t the show stated that Sunfyre’s egg was placed by aegon’s cradle?…. There’s no way he can be as big as syrax
In the books, Sunfyre was born a wild dragon and Aegon claimed him. Sunfyre wasn't just gifted to him in the crib. IDK if they changed that in the show.
@@rexibhazoboa7097they probably did . The egg that Daemon stole was probably Sunfyre
@@nicksmithnutmilk Sunfyre hatched on dragonstone. Daemon took Baelons egg from the dragonpit in kingslanding then returned it back in the same episode. So it likely is a different egg.
@@rexibhazoboa7097 they made bigger changes then a dragon's birth place . And it would be kinda ironic that Rhaenyra " saves " the dragon that actually kills her in the end . It's likely that they changed it . Plus Sunfyre's color in the show and that egg's color matches
Sunfyre: Rhaenyra go chomp chomp
Funny thing is their not even dragons 🤣
Dude your way off in your measurements ɓro, moondancer has a 100ftwingspan? Not even Balerion had that.
Question how big do u think 100 ft is if u want an example two semi trailers is 100ft my guess for moondancer is 40ft but vahgar is probably around 300ft long give or take
Balerion's skull is 30 feet long
Drogon had an 263 foot wingspan in S8….
Syrax is not golden and aegon is the rightful king
Syrax is described to be "piss-coloured" in the books if i remember correctly.
Yall are mad
@@kenydemeza she not golden cope
Aegon has no claim to the throne above his sister, he is a petty entitled rapist who didn't even want the throne until he realised how much he could get away with if he was king.
