- The two most colossal dragons to be showcased in Season 2 of House Of The Dragons. The highly anticipated House of the Dragon will be released in a few months, bringing with it the awe-inspiring creatures known as the Targaryen dragons. The largest among them is the ancient emerald dragoness belonging to Aegon the Conqueror, who currently stands at the age of 184 as depicted in the programme. The second largest entity is the bronze fury, which is about a century old and nearly as colossal in size. However, what is his actual size? In this video, we will evaluate the dimensions of vermithor by examining its visual representation in the last episode of the show, analysing the concept art, and considering the descriptions provided in the book. Once we have completed that task, we will compare them directly to determine whether the bronzy fury is truly more potent and intimidating than the ancient vhagar.

Vhagar was killed by caraxes who used an ambush, but vermithor got smushed and killed 2 dragons before he died, I think the bronze fury has this
Well, the battle was a different scenario. We have to consider we don't know if Tessarion fought Seasmoke, Vermithor, or both at the same time. And the fact that Vermithor was flying close to the ground before he was slammed into it, whereas Caraxes was dragging Vhagar out of the sky while he was getting ripped apart.
The fall killed Vhagar, whereas Vermithor was likely getting tag-teamed and was already taking damage from the various weapons being turned on him...
@@thalmoragent9344 Another detail to keep in mind is that Seasmoke and Tessarion were considerably smaller than Vermithor, barely a third of his size, while Caraxes was half the size of Vhagar and that added to the ambush made the battle of Vhagar more difficult than Vermithor's with Seasmoke and Tessarion.
Vermithor killed Seasmoke by ripping his head clean off, then collapsed and died because of the damage he sustained. Tessarion was alive, Vermithor didn’t kill her. She was killed by three arrows being shot into her eye.
@@thalmoragent9344 Caraxes ripped Vhagars throat out remember. She wasn’t untouchable.
@@joshuaadams6565 well at least he killed one of them unlike vhagar
we need a Balerion flash back!
I knew I wasn't the only one who wants that
You might be getting a show...
No Flashbacks, We're Gonna See Balerion The Black Dread At His Prime in "The Aegon's Conquest" Series, Which Will Be Premiered On HBO MAX In 2027.
If we do in some way, like in a dream, I’d like it to be as a shadow like in the hobbit when we were hinted towards smaug
@@Latenivenatrix_Mcmasterae or it could be a flash back to balerions last flight
In the books nobody wanted to fly out against Vhagar, not even in a 2v1 or 3v1. Daemon said the odds are not in their favor, the whole point of the greens being able to have a chance was because Vhagar was much bigger and fiercer than even the largest of the black queens dragons.
Caraxes and Vermithor together could have taken her, Caraxes was able to do it on his own, sure he died as a result, but history records him as the winner.
The Greens had 3 dragons , the Blacks had 11 . They could have won in 1 battle if their " leader " wasn't an emotional woman 😂😂
@@The2KhafreI’m pretty sure history recorded that as a tie. Both parties caused the direct death of the other in the fight.
@@rexibhazoboa7097 I personally count it as a win towards Caraxes. Much like when you have a hero and a villain fight and the hero kills the villain, then dies from the fight. We, the audience, tend to say the hero "won" the fight. It's definitely subjective, but that's just how I see it.
@@The2Khafre The way I see it, when Vhagar claws open Caraxes stomach, that was the kill shot. From that moment, Daemon and Caraxes weren't fighting to win, they were just hoping Aemond and Vhagar went down with them. The blood loss would've killed Caraxes before he could land safetly for Daemon.
A hero and villain example would be the hero performing the kill shot, when the villain realises he is done for, sets off a bomb that takes them both out. I love that its subjective though. Makes the fight more iconic.
You should do Caraxes and Vermithor next. Love Your Content Keep Up the Good Work.
We should have had Vermithor vs Vhagar instead of Caraxes. Biggest missed opportunity
Well, Caraxes vs. Vhagar was more personal. Caraxes was Prince Aemon's (Rhaenys' father) rider whilst Vhagar was prince Baelon's (Viserys & Daemon's father) rider they were very close and even before Meleys was claimed by Alyssa Targaryen they had already been flying with each other for quite a time
And when Laena Valeryon claimed Vhagar, her husband, who had claimed Caraxes would race her around the crown lands along with syrax. So Vhagar and Caraxes flew with each other a lot so I think they would likely have had a sort of friendship like most animals.
i disagree mainly because of the riders it makes sense for daemon to go against aemon and also caraxes and vermithor is a very close fight no matter what because vhager is big slow and old but strong and caraxes is smaller but much faster and the more battle hardened and a better battle dragon at this point
@@wbgawfhu9owahfo126 Wasn't Vermithor also battle hardened too?
@@methlokaijufan9729 not really he was a peaceful dragon and wasnt good dragon vs dragon and he died in his first dragon battle against seasmoke and tessarion who are both about a third of his size but he did kill them both too im pretty sure so hed probably lose to either caraxes or vhager maybe meleys too
hi love your content
She wasn’t Aegons. Balerion was Aegons. You know? The massive skull under The Red Keep? Pay attention
I think he referred to the fact that the 3 dragons were called the Dragons of the conquest or Aegons War Dragons even though they got they own personally rider
chiiiill bro
she was aegons originally its written that aegon gave vhagar and meraxes to his sisters implying he owned all 3 before then
@@wingwangtingtangNo it is not what the fuck are you talking about? Stop mistaking your fucking theories or someone else's for canon information. That is nowhere stated or implied in any books.
Considering the books said meleys vs vhagar alone stood a chance I believe vermithor had a chance
Vhagar vs Smaug. Should be a good fight!
Should be a quick one
Didn't GRRM already close that case saying only Balerion coould face off Smaug. And Smug was the smallest Dragon from Tolkien
@@0predaking0 smaug would kinda destroy him, hes farm smarter and larger...
Vhagar would be massacred
@@damon5257exactly. The only hope Balerion/Vhagar has against Smaug would be if they have their riders on them. This would level out the intelligence factor.
I dont think the show will be 100% like the book. We will have some surprise !
Indeed. 😇
You used a photo from my post on reddit at 2:13, it's awesome to see.
Since the First time i saw Vermithor i Found It to be Very similar to Vaghar, is she his mother? And Meraxys might be Silverwing's
I feel like having seen Vhagar in the show, she has become so huge, she's almost encumbered by her own massive size at this point.
This is essentially how they die... They get to a point where they can no longer support their own body weight
Vhagar vs the Balrog, would be a site.
i heard someone say vhagar is getting up there in age she is getting closer to balerions age when he died and he died of old age with vermithor being close to 100 and also being pretty large he should be far more stronger and nimble giving him the edge in a fight.
👍👍👍
Vhagar was 90 meters long and 150 meters wingspan, a VFX designer words.
They said she’s 150 meters long. Not once did they mention wingspan.
@@devonpelley3832 wait, I will check it.
@@devonpelley3832there’s no way that dragons almost 500 feet
In the books Vermithor is bigger then Vhagar in the show . Book Vermithor is 110 meters long , show Vhagar is 80-90 meters long
@@nicksmithnutmilk where is it said he was 110 meter long?😯
I'd say Vermithor is the only other Dragon that could've fought Vhagar in a one-on-one battle and live to tell the tale.
People often forget that as cool as Daemon's stunt was at the Battle Above the God's Eye, his original plan was to corner and jump Aemond and Vhagar. He and Nettles hunted Vhagar for a lengthy amount of time, and it wasn't till Nettles was forced to leave that Daemon basically resigned to the fact that he couldn't take on Vhagar alone and survive the battle.
It's why we read about how Vhagar was tearing Caraxes apart, and all Caraxes could do was latch onto Vhagar and basically hold on for dear life as he was getting gutted and torn. The impact into the lake is what killed Vhagar in the end above all. The larger, older dragon wasn't gonna survive such a fall... my take is that she either died on impact or she was knocked out and slowly drowned on her way down.
So, if Vermithor and Vhagar battle, mayhaps he'd live, and would would definitely fair better than Caraxes did. That said, maybe he'd end up the same way Sunfyre did after Rook's Rest, alive but greatly injured.
Caraxes was burrowing his snout into Vhagars throat, I doubt she’d survive such damage anyway. Regardless I’ve never understood why Daemon and Caraxes didn’t bath Vhagars neck and back in flame, reducing Aemond to ashes. Similar to what happened with Rhaenys, she was most likely killed by vhagars flames than anything else.
I think meleys would have done decent as well since she was huge and the fastest dragon westeros has ever seen. Her horns that form a sort of crown around her neck would be vital in that fight, too, since a dragons neck can be pierced and severely damaged.
@@joshuaadams6565he wasn't burrowing into vahgars neck carafes latched on to give daemon the stability to jump across also caraxes was being torn to shreds by vhagar so he knew this was the end, I think it's the shock of losing it's rider is the reason vhagar fell which resulted in it death
@@hulksmash7960 No, it's specifically said that Caraxes ripped chunks out of Vhagar's neck while she ripped him apart. They were locked to gether which is why they fell out of the sky. It had nothing to do with her bond, this isn't Dragon Heart. Caraxes died from being disemboweled, Vhagar died from blood loss and drowning (how damn deep was that lake that she could drown in it yet people could dive down to recover Dark Sister and her skull?)
@@BloodofBlackFire if u can get the quote that says he ripped out chuncks of vhagar neck I'll cash app u $100 otherwise stop spreading misinformation cause that's not written anywhere in the book. It said he bit vhagar neck with his teeth and refused to let go while he was getting torn to pieces so daemon could cross over to kill aemon. Infact it's written that vhagar was more afraid of the fall than the wound caraxes was giving him
How do we know it’s vermithor show me an original vermithor pic
if you watch the show and use subtitles it literally says "vermithor growls" or something
A younger Vahgar would be stronger & quicker tho were dealing with the old version with slower reflexes & maneuvers which is why Caraxes was able to use its long neck to bite chunks out of Vahgar & basically choke her like a snake using its body to wrap around a person.
I want a Vhagar vs Rodan
Rodan will win. He is a Prehistoric Titan.
Rodan,as any fire attacks wont work on him due to his volcanic nature all while being much heavier and faster than any GoT dragons.
Vhagar would be an easy meal for Rodan 😂
Rodan would do to Vhagar what she did to Arrax. Actually I take that back, rodan would obliterate vhagar by simply flying pass her and not even notice.
Oh, no! 500 feet of winghspam!!!😂
Funny how Daemon always uses the derogatory slander "Bronze [insult]" towards people of the Vale, but then ends up to bond with the Bronze Fury :)
they don't "bond" in any sense
Verminthor would have a speed and age advantage however unlike Vhagar, Vermithor is akin to a gentle giant who prefers to guard and protect rather than fight which for War means a lot more than you think. Vhagar was a war beast who wouldn't hesitate to destroy anything it deemed hostile even if it really wasn't. With that said if Verminthor fought Vhagar right away at Rooks Rest, Vhagar would have won but I believe that Verminthor would cause enough damage that Vhagar would be unable to fight in the war just like what happened to Sunfyre. Now if Verminthor fought in several more battles and was the Dragon to fight Vhagar over the Gods Eye I'd wager that Verminthor would have a 45% chance to win with no serious injuries but would also have a 55% chance to die taking Vhagar down as well.
His gentle giant attitude would be lessened after a few battles but Vhagar with her size and experience would make it unlikely for Verminthor to kill her without dying himself.
Vermithor is not a normal Dragon like Syrax.
Vermithor The Bronze Fury Is Much More Furious Than Vhagar, Also Vermithor is A Young Giant Male Dragon Who Has No Injury Which Gives Him The Advantage Of Being Much More Proactive And Furious Than Vhagar!
On The Other Hand, Vhagar's Age & Over size & Injuries Are Big Minus Point!

Godzilla vs Vhagar would be a great battle, lol
Vhagar would make a lovely afternoon snack to Godji
Vermithor é Elite, ele era feroz e poderoso, ele ganharia sim da vovó Vhagar que era idosa e lenta!
Why didn’t silver wing help him fight at tumbleton
half the dragon fights don't really make sense in the book. Tell me why Syrax flies into an open dragon pit just to be cornered and die. Vermithor's rider was already dead when the fight with Tessarion and Seasmoke happened. The show has a chance to add valuable context and potentially correct the incorrect tellings in Fire and Blood
Thanx for spoiling
4:43 NO dragons were recorded to have any battle against themselves before Dance of the Dragons. (except Cannibal)
It is not the fact only for Vermithor.
The Black Dread killed Quicksilver
Most likely, the silverwing is the 3rd largest dragon, and then, apparently, a dreamfire
This video is so incorrect…..
