- While hunting about for interesting electronic things to tear down, David stumbled upon a (relatively cheap) safe with an electronic lock. So he thought, this could be fun, a chance to test out his safe cracking skills! Besides, how hard could it be? bit.ly/3pCvwXa

David: “If we find some inherent security flaw or something I don't want everybody ready to be able to go out and crack that safe”
The Lockpicking Lawyer: “Ummm…”
But he's a Lawyer - and knows how to avoid trouble - I don't!
Hi Nice One, will have a look at mine, Glad you cracked it😅, All the best Brian 😃,
🤣How dare u!
I connected a raspberry pi to a relay which connected to the solenoid. Then I wrote a program in php so the safe could be unlocked from anywhere via the internet. For fun
Such a safe would actually be useful for packages. Just needs to be secure enough to make the thief look for an easier target.
It's a good way to go, and I would consider doing it for a door lock, but I worry about my skills as a web dev to ensure it was secure enough to be insurable?
@@a531016 same here. I was able to encrypt the pin etc, but i’m only self taught so could be bypassable
Locking mechanism is quite poor. Same design as Amazon Basics safe. Simple knock opens it because solenoid jump easily. Maybe could be improved a bit, eg by heavier springs? I'm tempted to get this safe and replace solenoid with a snail actuator. Probably would have to also replace or mod the electronics to drive it.
That tubular bypass key is also a big weakness. Lockpickinglaywer showed it lasts 3sec against cheap tool from amazon. I think I'd rather disconnect it, and guide cable pair from battery box to outside so mechanism can be powered externally in emergency.
At that point total cost would probably approach a much better safe, eg MSafe or Sentry. Could be fun project tho.
Hey give that back!!
Never!!!!!!!!
