    If you are after some short, easy to follow tutorials, check out my Mad Skillz Masterclass series • Mad Skillz Masterclass... They’re a series of in-depth CZcams tutorials where I demonstrate some of my most popular art techniques for surfboards, skateboards, walls and canvasses… they’re also dead easy but super effective so that anyone can give them a go.
    Soundtrack is Aunt Jemima Got Groove by Francesco D'Andrea from Premium Beat.
    My name is Fieldey, I’m a surf, skate and street artist from Australia. I started this channel 5 years ago when I was an unhappy corporate designer yearning to become an artist. Since posting my very first video I’ve been on a crazy journey from teaching myself to paint surfboards and skateboards, to painting large-scale street art murals!
    Turning my passion into a full-time career has been a massive learning curve and I want to pass on the skills and knowledge I’ve learned, as well as inspire others who’re just starting out on their creative journeys.
    I post on Saturday every fortnight, sometimes more, and you can expect to see easy to follow, Mad Skillz Masterclass tutorials, Artist Insider vlogs and inspirational projects that I’ve been working on.

      Hey thanks man! Same brand is fine, but a traditional skatedeck will be pretty fiddly for sprays... if you're handy with a can go for it though. Personally I'd use sprays and pens on a skatey.

    • @FieldeyTV
      @FieldeyTV  Před 7 lety +1

      Yep you're right, but cans are waaay more available and cheap to use for most people.

    • @KevinHallSurfing
      @KevinHallSurfing Před 7 lety +1

      Bit of practice you can get a perfect coat with cans. I was once actually called a liar when I painted some bike parts gold base Candy Apple Red gloss (no clear at that stage) just spray cans and it looked factory painted. A quick sand and clean, did one part again, same result in front of the clown.
      Run your strokes before and after masking, not to close and continuous sweeps building up gradually so no runs.

      +Mpanada13 It's just a lighter coat of paint - it's super light and bonds with the surface so that your paint sticks better to the board. Once that light coat is dry proceed as normal with a second coat.

    Beautiful vibes, very helpful and genuinely good video ... one question though, does anyone else think that painting a big fish design on the bottom of you surf board or anywhere on a surf board for that matter might actually invite a certain unwanted and huge “predator” directly to your doorstep so to speak ... if you catch my wave ... I mean REALLY😱

    • @FieldeyTV
      @FieldeyTV  Před 6 lety

      Hahaha! Of course it must cross people's minds... but in reality I don't think the shark would be able to make the jump between a stylised painting of a fish and a real fish. Besides, seen from below, the board will be just a silhouette and the shark will probably think: "what a tasty looking, slow moving little seal/turtle/interesting-thing-in-the-water".

      Drew Burrell I'm so sorry for this late reply - stupid CZcams had your comment in the spam folder! I'm also sorry you had to go through that, your board looked amazing! The problem was the neon cans - I've used them once before and had mixed results - sometimes the sandy texture and sometimes they go on fine, it could be that they need to be shaken longer, I'll have to look into it. The normal colours are all good, but those neons and surfboards don't seem to play nicely together... what did you end up doing?

      Fieldey TV Hey. Thanks for getting back to me. It's a shame about the neons.... I ended up lightly sanding the neons and most of the "sand" came off - leaving a fine orange left. I then bought another can and had a slightly better result (even after a huge amount of shaking). Most of it stuck this time - but still a little sandy on parts. A light rub. Then a clear-coat and the board looks pretty good. I can't comment on durability as I can't surf for another few weeks with broken ribs and a collarbone.... BUT I would not recommend neons if you are precious about the finish. picture here: postimg.org/image/l2uqmvkt5/

    • @FieldeyTV
      @FieldeyTV  Před 9 lety

      Hi Fabitalism, Dan tells you the ones to use in the clip, but I think it's a combo of fat caps and New Yorkers for the gradients

      Fieldey TV
      i don't understand if he is using a "new york fat cap" or a normal "fat cap"?

    • @FieldeyTV
      @FieldeyTV  Před 9 lety

      Fabitalism He's using an X--Ray Super Fat cap to cover the board with black paint at the start, and then to do all the other spraying, he switches the cap to a New Yorker (the skinny looking cap).

    • @Fabitalism
      @Fabitalism Před 9 lety +1

      but it's a "New York Fat Cap"? or do you call it just "New yorker"?

    • @FieldeyTV
      @FieldeyTV  Před 9 lety +1

      Fabitalism Just a New Yorker is fine

    • @FieldeyTV
      @FieldeyTV  Před 9 lety +1

      Hi Vincent,
      Dan made the stencil by tracing around a small bowl (actually his cats' bowl) with a wide tip marker - he then cut around the outside edge of the marker lines to create the stencil.
