  • Greenland, also known as "Città Satellite," was a beloved theme park in Lombardy, Italy that opened in 1965. Despite its popularity, Greenland closed in 2002 due to safety concerns, and in 2009, it was closed permanently following years of legal battles. Today, the once-thriving park sits abandoned and is now known as a "drug forest," where squatters and passersby have been known to act randomly violent. However, there's hope for the park's future as local officials and investors announced a plan for redevelopment amid the pandemic. Check out this video to learn more about the history and current state of Greenland, the abandoned theme park.

As someone who grew up and still lives in Southern California it’s always so fascinating to see what other places designate as theme parks. I’m assuming a lot of this was demolished when it was closed 😕.
Also I’m sorry but was one attraction just….fishing?

So true! 😂 Everything paled in comparison after Disneyland appeared. The rest of the world needed time to catch up to its conceptual scale! And yes, many of Greenland’s rides and attractions were demolished after it closed. The little island area was much more built up back in the day, with animals, water rides, and even fishing!

Theme parks are really spooky when abandoned. And strangely they all have the same overall look. Also curious how so many parks are closed due to safety concerns.

Action Park in New Jersey is perhaps the most famous example of a theme park closing due to safety issues. Several people were killed on attractions throughout the 1980s. HBO Max ran a document on it called Class Action Park.
The one theme park that stands out the most for me was Nara Dreamland. I was there during thick fog and the atmosphere was surreal. Here's my video filmed in 2012: czcams.com/video/M6qtcsh6bmo/video.html
