I think a critical aspect of this team that you missed out is how almost every game, Zidane had his famous 60-70 minutes substitution of Vazquez and Asensio for Benzema and Bale/Isco to reduce even more the defensive work rate of Ronaldo and consequently raise the offensive out puts. This substitution won Madrid a lot of games.

Yes, they were lucky the 3rd time they won it. They finished 19 points behind Barcelona in the league that year and were dominated by Bayern and psg. Just look at the Bayern games stats. Way many chances for Bayern, stupid mistakes done by defenders and keepers. And then, not yellow for Casemiro (but for Vidal, another story) and one meter offside Ronaldo Goal. The last clasico in 2017, Bale started even though he was not fit. It was because Zidane listened to Bale and played him. Bale walked off the pitch in like the 35th min or so due to discomfort. Zidane gave him plenty of chances. It was not Zidanes fault that Bale couldn't stay fit. Bale had other priorities and unfortunately lost his place to Isco

Lucas Vasquez was a crucial substitute for him. He could put him on the right or left. His speed and crossing ability was top tier that season. Asensio was another crucial substitute.
