My brother in law Robert Jones loved all of your stuff. Except for the crossfire receiver... that kiss v1 with the 24a esc, the frame, the mr steele motors... that was his exact quad too back then. I got to fly his "Mr Steele" motor kiss v1 rig once, and it was amazing to me. Unfortunately an ESC caught fire mid air, it landed it in a tree and burned. So all we have left is the top plate and charred bottom plate (still usable though). He was going to finally build a new rig this summer since he had the funds and it _had_ to be 6s. We had a whole discussion and he was telling me about how 6s was the future, based on your videos. Sadly, he never got to do this because he passed away this year. At some point, in his honor/memory, I would like to either recreate this same rig, or do the 6s build with Mr Steele/Ethix stuff he had planned out. The dude was just crazy about you & and your flying, and would have loved to meet you. You were definitely a light for him on some dark days. Sorry if this comment is weird, but anyway, that's some amazing flying and it shows that even though the build is old it still aged very well and someone with professional skills can still rip it good.
That's the saddest thing ever. Even though I already watched all the steele's videos some how I reviewed this one and found this. God will take care of him.

This month is hard, it will mark 3 years since he passed away, I can’t believe how fast time has gone by since I wrote this. 😢 the very last time I saw him, I think it was actually today in 2019. we got to fly vortex 150 pros.
His struggle was one with drug addiction and depression combined. FPV drones were a big part of his therapy. I believe if it were not for FPV, and the community at the time that helped keep him going, we would have lost him much earlier. He was doing so well but had a bad relapse and we lost him.
I know there are many in the fpv community who use drones therapeutically. My heart goes out to everyone who knows someone struggling with addiction. It takes too many great people from us.

Always a blast to watch! I'm new to this. My first week flying 5 inch props, close to your recommended 6s setup, after about a month flying a mobula. I love the Kiss v1 flight! My Reverb has the same setup and it’s 1 of my best flying quads still! 6s is great but the cost to switch all the stuff over to it is too pricey especially when my other 3 4s betaflight quads fly great as well! Maybe after some major wrecks/carnage I’ll slowly switch over:)

I havn't try 6S but the Dogcom 4S battery I and my friends use has predictable power curve until it deplete quality too. When it is not depleted it has all the power but when it does, the quad fall. If we forget to set up a kind of battery low warning and having so much fun, we often forgot to land before critical minimum voltage.

Glad you had that quad from the past, so you could do this. Makes me think you might want museum examples of each of your steps in terms of quads you flew in your development... ongoing. You are going to be historically major to this thing we do with all the quads and the crashing. Just an observation.

Nice! I love watching your videos, and I was wanting to know, should I build a freestyle for machine or go with a dji phantom? I could do either, but not both. I enjoy photography but still thought it would be cool to fly super fast and do some cool manuevers.
The first drone I ever purchased was the phantom3. Then i still ended up. Building a kwad later. Then another, and another, another. Point is, I think you'll be happier building a nice efficient cruiser that you can attach a gopro and get some super chill HD video.
Same 'type' of hobby, in the sense that in both cases, you're flying a UAV, but man! the experiences can't really be compared!
Myself, I started off several years ago with an interest in aerial photography, and still enjoy flying my dji Phantom 3 Advanced with Litchi software for autonomous waypoint cinematography. But since I've been bitten by the freestyle quad bug, I hardly fly the dji these days.
Whilst you're making up your mind, you can do much worse than trying your hands on a rtf indoor model with a relatively inexpensive cheap pair of goggles.

"Flying moderately?" Guess that's relative. Great vid though. Shows that a well set up quad is a well set up quad, period. That 'old' quad is still on frikking rails. Bet it feels good too (while the lipo lasts). I still fly a KISS V1 and 4S with zero regrets. Works plenty well and forces me to focus on being a pilot, not endlessly buying new 'better' stuff.

holy flying man. and dam wish this ct weather let my batteries hold battery volts like that.
I went down the 5 and 6s rabbit hole and reverted back to 4s for several reasons. 1. cost of battery's 2. Did not see enough advantage to justify modifying all my setups with lower kv motors and upgrade my esc's and Fc's to handle the extra voltage 3. The additional weight of the 6s batteries causes more damage to the battery and the quad in a crash, I have destroyed all my 5s batteries just bumping the ground or rough landings 4. I make videos, longer flight times just means more footage I have to cut out in post to make my finished video a resonable length. 5. I prefer to stay with 5in props, they are more durable and forgiving for bending back into shape, 6in and above props break easily when you nick a branch or a gate.
