- Form for Rear Delts is where we all must start! And here I am, back it for how to properly train your shoulders.
Sadly in todays video, I see this butchered every single week in person and online. And it simply comes down to not understanding how the shoulder functions WITHOUT involving the traps.
Watch closely, mirror this form and get to growing today!
TIP: its most likely going to require you to lighten the weight.

These videos are always gold. This video is great, as many (like myself) have trouble connecting with the rear delt muscle.
yea its a tough muscle to nail, just takes tinkering in the gym until you find your groove
John Meadows and you taught me a longtime ago how to build rear delts. It’s no longer a problem for me. If I take a month off hitting them though they shrink on my body and disappear. Dumbbells either bent over like here or on an incline bench and then partials. I recently saw a Phil Heath shoulder workout and he made fun of partials but I feel the burn and like them. Reverse pec deck machine and cable pull aparts and a light band for burning I have this figured out. Really cool to look good from the side in the mirror. Thanks Cris. Always good work you’re doing
yea its just how you grow shoulders.
thanks a lot man
Like to do those with a neutral grip, then switch to a pronated grip to eek out a few more good reps. A lot of people post shoulder videos, so it's nice to see someone with actual large shoulders giving advice! Good stuff as always, brother
what's funny, is I do the exact opposite
@@CrisEdmondsTV hmmm. makes sense, I'll give it a try: hit the smaller section then go neutral grip to hit the wider rear delt. 👍🏼
I def fail to turtle over like that. When roll over, I extend by lower back and face more forward, then swing. Kind of always knew it was messed up. Just failed to look into it lol
you will love this modification
Great tips as always. Does it make a difference if you pronate your grip or not?
Not at all, do what you feel the most in terms of grip (pronated, semi-pronated, neutral)
Cris, such great instruction. On a Leg, Push, Pull split I feel like I can’t hammer my rear delt when I tack it on the push day. The reason being when rear delts are sore it negatively effects a lot of my rowing. Guessing this can be very nuanced but any thoughts on a work around?
I would move rear delts to pull day before biceps
But shoulders go on push day!!! Just kidding, thanks man. Simple and genius solution.
@@CaseyKayser hahahaha I've done rear delts on back day and then front/side delts on chest day and had great success with that
Cris I do these bent over whilst sitting on a bench is this ok ? Many thanks. Jim Harrison. UK.
sure can
I do these seated bent over, but I don't keep the arms straight, and raise them like your would in a pull over with externally rotated shoulders, is that ok. ? I keep the arms that way cuz of a golfers elbow injury and an old shoulder tear
if your rear delts are growing, keep at it. if they aren't, time to change
Unfortunately I'm fifth😢
what's fifth?
