2:20 - you guessed it right. That's called "spit snare" (snare made only by pressure of lips). And yes, you've heard it before: 1) River made a lot of variations. 2) Helium made it in the last drop (with inward bass)

@@lakohu7932 Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge sucker for codfish, or maybe was. But after so many years I just think his style became pretty repetitive, or maybe because he posts like once every decade I just put my standards way too high and just get disappointed it's not that good

@@foxxo8349 and maybe it's unfair to set such high standards. but codfish had his time in the spotlight for beatboxing and wanted to go big into GBB. he won it and it was no small feat either. Can't expect the guy to keep going the same way D-low did and many others
Yo you should definitely check out Codfishâs 2018 gbb compilation if you havenât already. Its on stage in a competition and itâs unbelievably amazing.
Always good to hear that compilation, and it's not against Codfish (insanely touching artist, no one could go against that) but maybe not the best thing to analyze.

You got it - the wet snare is called a spit snare. Uses no breath which frees up your vocals for e.g. humming
And also breathing! Allows clean places to inhale while in spit snare
The beats in this box deserve an "ALGORITHM BOOSTING COMMENT"

You cant catch quite catch it in a video. But his sounds were more powerful and clean in live. You could see it in the GBB 2019 event where his beat sounds louder and better than everyone else!

I want to suggest you a particolare one, Gene Shinozaki X apartment session.-jigsaw. Maybe it's Not a mainstream video, but is very interesting because there is the unification between the instrument of beatbox and a sort of orchestra. I really liked it

Den Sensations is crazy good. Or pretty much any of his BBU tracks.
Codfish is totally amazing in musicality and in the quality of each sound he does, but I don't think he is a good option for you to analyse because his drum patterns tend to be "easy" in comparison with the other beatboxers you've watched. Maybe you should watch others like Colaps, Napom, Zero, Dropical, etc. I believe they are a better option to analyse instead of Codfish, who is (in my opinion) a beatboxer to enjoy like a music track.

This is such an old video, you gotta checkout his new stuff. People's craft really evolves rapidly, especially this covid thing really made a ton of people "level up" as they say in the community.
I recommend MTS beatbox (insane vocal bass!!) next you will be amazed at this manâs stuff
My suggestion for the next beatbox video is "Gene Shinozaki GBB 2021 Solo Wildcard", since you appreciate musical stuff rather than technical.
