I feel like Deja vu is a memory from my consciousness traveling to a future I need to be in, like I’m on the right path. So when I experience Deja vu, I feel relieved because it means I’m in the right version of my future. Sometimes I have “visions” of experiences I haven’t had, but deja vu of those “visions” makes me believe I’m in the right timeline
I’ve understood it to be due to the fact that the feeling you get when you see something familiar and the actual experience of seeing something familiar are different things. When your brain induces the feeling we associate with familiarity outside of an actually familiar scenario we tend not to second guess the feeling and we ascribe an extra layer of meaning to the experience. Capras syndrome, where people think their loved ones have been replaced by copies is sort of the opposite. You feel a lack of familiarity that you subconsciously rationalize as your family not being who they really are. Not the same exactly but it shows the separation of the two phenomena.
The most glaring oversight imo is that for me & many others, it’s not just that moment… it’s that we saw that exact moment days, weeks, months, sometimes years before; then lo & behold the exact thing happens & it triggers the deja vu. Don’t feel like anyone has explained it properly before, i’ve experienced it plenty.

I had this happen the first time I got high. I had a dream a while before, and literally the entire night parts of that experience happened. The cat, the recliner, the PC, knowing where the bathroom was and what it looked like.. despite not ever being there. The guy's mom asked her son if he wanted anything to eat, and I knew they would decide on fish fry and ask me if I knew a place, and I'd tell them a place. So before they even answered I tried to say the name of the place but I couldn't even open my mouth until it got to that moment. There were other moments after that, but this was the first and most powerful moment. After that I ended up going to my friends place and part of the dream was that I was looking at the door with police pounding on it, and my buddy in the national guard was pointing a handgun at the door. There was a cop car by the parking lot, and I explained everything to him and his brother, and he took out his gun from his bag. Luckily, the pounding on the door never happened. But I had never seen his gun before and since I was freaking out he stopped joking around.
Happens but i think it's caused by constant deja Vu happening. Let's put it in a scenario: you wake up and go to work, you get deja vu about your entrance and you try to remember that dream but you instead remember a memory and your brain re-constructs that memory with a former dream scenario and spice it up with a prediction but when it gets wrong, it tries again but to convince you it deletes the getting it wrong part so you get amused.
here's my theory. you know how you usually forget about dreams? my theory is that deja vu comes from your forgotten dreams, basically, an event in real life was similar to a dream you once had, and it is reminding you of the dream, which is why it felt like it happened before.
This has absolutely happened to me. When I was in middle school I had such a hyper specific dream that I managed to remember it because it felt very real but definitely hadn't happened, and a week later everything in that dream finally came to be- all my furniture was moved like in the dream, something I also somehow forgot until the "deja vu" hit me, and the exact person showed up at my house with the exact toys he had in the dream. I didn't have a lot going on as a kid so this stuck as a core memory

I feel like Deja vu is a memory from my consciousness traveling to a future I need to be in, like I’m on the right path. So when I experience Deja vu, I feel relieved because it means I’m in the right version of my future.
Sometimes I have “visions” of experiences I haven’t had, but deja vu of those “visions” makes me believe I’m in the right timeline

Sometimes deja vu happens because you actually did something before
I’ve understood it to be due to the fact that the feeling you get when you see something familiar and the actual experience of seeing something familiar are different things.
When your brain induces the feeling we associate with familiarity outside of an actually familiar scenario we tend not to second guess the feeling and we ascribe an extra layer of meaning to the experience.
Capras syndrome, where people think their loved ones have been replaced by copies is sort of the opposite. You feel a lack of familiarity that you subconsciously rationalize as your family not being who they really are. Not the same exactly but it shows the separation of the two phenomena.
The most glaring oversight imo is that for me & many others, it’s not just that moment… it’s that we saw that exact moment days, weeks, months, sometimes years before; then lo & behold the exact thing happens & it triggers the deja vu.
Don’t feel like anyone has explained it properly before, i’ve experienced it plenty.
They do!! I still get them! Your dreams predict the future! I don’t know how it works. But to me it’s a form of time traveling. Like I travel to the future and see exactly whatever the “deja vu” will be and I see it months later. I don’t know I’ve been there until that very moment and it kinda hits me like I saw this exact scenario months ago. Exactly with the people who are there and even the clothes are they wear. Earliest I can remember doing it is like 7 years old. I’m 27 now.

Nah there was one time i will never forget, I was at a buddies and motion by motion it all happened exactly how It happened in my dream. Was the creepiest shit that has ever happened to me I still can’t explain it.

My verison of Deja vu was different. When I fell asleep sometimes my brain would literally straight up predict the event that would happen soon.
I had this happen the first time I got high. I had a dream a while before, and literally the entire night parts of that experience happened. The cat, the recliner, the PC, knowing where the bathroom was and what it looked like.. despite not ever being there. The guy's mom asked her son if he wanted anything to eat, and I knew they would decide on fish fry and ask me if I knew a place, and I'd tell them a place. So before they even answered I tried to say the name of the place but I couldn't even open my mouth until it got to that moment.
There were other moments after that, but this was the first and most powerful moment. After that I ended up going to my friends place and part of the dream was that I was looking at the door with police pounding on it, and my buddy in the national guard was pointing a handgun at the door. There was a cop car by the parking lot, and I explained everything to him and his brother, and he took out his gun from his bag. Luckily, the pounding on the door never happened. But I had never seen his gun before and since I was freaking out he stopped joking around.
Happens but i think it's caused by constant deja Vu happening. Let's put it in a scenario: you wake up and go to work, you get deja vu about your entrance and you try to remember that dream but you instead remember a memory and your brain re-constructs that memory with a former dream scenario and spice it up with a prediction but when it gets wrong, it tries again but to convince you it deletes the getting it wrong part so you get amused.

here's my theory.
you know how you usually forget about dreams? my theory is that deja vu comes from your forgotten dreams, basically, an event in real life was similar to a dream you once had, and it is reminding you of the dream, which is why it felt like it happened before.

This has absolutely happened to me. When I was in middle school I had such a hyper specific dream that I managed to remember it because it felt very real but definitely hadn't happened, and a week later everything in that dream finally came to be- all my furniture was moved like in the dream, something I also somehow forgot until the "deja vu" hit me, and the exact person showed up at my house with the exact toys he had in the dream. I didn't have a lot going on as a kid so this stuck as a core memory
I get deja vu very often. Its so weird i felt like 'wait..I've been through this before..it feels so similar?!' And sometimes when i have dreams,they happen later in real life which makes me go crazy thinking i was insane. Thank god Zack explained this😭🙏

One thing that keeps happening to me is, like I randomly think of things and then those memories kinda stay even though it happened in my head or not... but then some of those things happen.
