- Devongunsmith Diaries #27 Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon:
Full Strip-down & Re-assembly
The Devongunsmith Diaries concept was conceived by me during lock down, and the premise was to be able to perform work without a fully set up gunsmiths workshop, but rather, using just the Cottage Kitchen Table, a few hand tools, some cordless tools, a table vice, and other small DIY tools.
While the channel is not specifically intended to be a how to guide, it is mainly for entertainment.
While in the UK gunsmithing must be performed by the Licenced Gun Trade, CZcams is without borders, and if the channel is useful to someone as either entertainment, or indeed helps you to decide if a repair might be possible, then I have been a help to you.

Thank you very much, Master! Without you, I would not have assembled my girl's trigger group. Greetings from Russia. ✌🏽
Glad I could help
Great video. Makes me really appreciate my local gunsmith.
Good to hear
Great resource for any of us newbies.
Thanks 👍
What a great video!!! I just bought a used 682, now I can go into it to see if it needs anything!
Glad it was helpful! Remember.. if it ain’t broke.. don’t fix it 🤣
Thank you, absolutely fascinating. On every purchase i make i completely strip down, clean, and convert to manual safety. I did my Beretta Ultralight a couple of months ago, so glad i decided against a complete strip of the trigger group. I'm tempted now to go back and be a little more liberal with the grease.
I’m with you on the manual safety.
I’m not a fan of auto safety.
Us this kind of content useful?
They take a really long to make and even longer to edit..
And the first fast forward segment lost its music track! 😂👍
@devongunsmith4698 I find the content very useful, for 1 I intend to convert a pair of water pump pliers next. It also assured me I don't use too much grease and if seen before my strip down, would have prevented me going too far.
Kudos 👏 to you great work
Thanks 👍
I will bet there are more owners out there that have no idea of the engineering hidden in a shotgun, and bemoan a shotgun that is years old and had god knows how many shots fired through it and never been serviced, god forbit that it should stop working 😂😂
I’ve actually had shotguns in completely encrusted in rust, (inside) looking lovely on the outside..
So I make no apologies for loading up with a good rust inhibiting grease. 😂👍
Carburettor clearer is good
Yes definitely 👍 they are very similar and often the same solvents.
I love the video and information. I just bought my 1st Clay Sporting gun its a Beretta Silver Pigeon 1 and I wanted to lube up the firing assy so I watched your video.
My but stock removal seems to have a tamper resistant allen head screw. It has the pin in the center of the hex. I am trying to find the correct tool or socket.
any suggestions thanks for all your info and help

amzn.to/3tuHkQt 6mm TBar. The Allen bolt is retained but the TBar will pass through to let you undo the retained bolt from the action 👍
Hi I have a Beretta 682 gold E, have just got a set of ejector direct from Italy. Do these need dressing with a stone before fitting.
Remove ejector spring and piston, offer up new ejectors and see if they fit straight off, then install the spring and piston..
Otherwise you might need to dress the edges to get a better fit.. but always test first..
Would you know if there is a torque setting for the stock to action bolt please
Approximately 10-12 Foot pounds. But having done it so long, I do it by feel.
I do it until its “tight”
Don’t force it ! You’ll crack the stock.
Can you tell me what brand of super glue you use.
Any Industrial low viscosity penetrating grade cyanoacrylate adhesive will be up to the job.
Use white spirit in ultrasonic rather than oil and water baths ?
Great idea.. temperature and cavitation of the white spirit will mean a low flash point at room temperature ⚠️ danger ⚠️
So a fume cabinet would be essential!
What cleaner do you use in your ultrasonic cleaner?
Screwfix No Nonsense Heavy Duty Degreaser 5Ltr any generic heavy duty degreaser concentrate will work well.
@devongunsmith4698 thanks.
Is the 694 much different?
Short answer: I dunno not had one in for a service yet. But it’s a Beretta. Unless you know something different, it’s probably not much different to one of the iterations of design beretta adopt..
No gunsmiths vice?🧐🤔
Everyone’s a critic🤨🤔 you clearly haven’t appreciated the whole premise of the channel.. I went to watch your channel.. oh you don’t have one 🤣🤣🤣
