- The Toyota 4Runner, last renewed in 2009, is the brand's oldest model in the U.S. line-up. It's expected to be designed and engineered from the ground up for the sixth generation, and release, if not, be unveiled, in 2024.
The New Toyota 4Runner, expected to be based on the same platform as the new Tacoma (TNGA-F), and should be the first one in its history available as a hybrid. The hybrid powertrain will likely bring big performance and efficiency improvements, allowing outdoorsy customers to have more extreme adventures.
With a more refined interior, enhanced ride quality, and upgraded comfort and connectivity features, the all-new 4Runner (2024 release) can be great for the daily commute, too. Get that hybrid model out as soon as you can!
Absolutely John! The hybrid system would undoubtedly make the 4Runner quieter in everyday operation, as well as improve gas mileage. For off-roaders, there's the benefit of the electric motor's additional torque.
The render looks pretty neat, based on the new Tacoma. With so many crossover models in Toyota’s U.S. lineup, there is no point in making the 4Runner soft.

Hello Raj, there is no confirmation yet about a potential RAV4 PHEV, but we'll be sure to track this vehicle as we head towards its release.

Just put a v8 5.7L NA in it, 3 lockers, factory 16x13.5 37s, can go up to 40 without BMC, 3.0 shock long travel, build in compressors, wide body, build in 12k winch, rear dual swings, front metal bumper, 13 inch ground clearance, full length roof rack with 1200lb load capacity, plastic floor with drains etc…
Why launch something you can't deliver?
I sure hope the 2024 forerunner doesn’t look like your rendering, you made it look like a suburban. It looks pretty boring I’ve seen better renderings.
I hope the decision makers will add the V6 turbo engine to the lineup for the new gen.4 Runner. The proposed 4 cyl. turbo engine will not add any power or value over the current V6 naturally aspirated engine.. It will only require the 4 cyl. engine to rely on the turbo to spool up continuously to perform. Plus, the 10 speed transmission will constantly be down shifting . Currently, it sounds like Toyota wants to stop the production of the North American 4 Runner by bringing back a V6 turbo Land Cruiser and cannibalize the 4 Runner SUV. SHAMEFUL!
