I'm raised without washing washing all produce so you dont get sick that easily .... call it building resistance .... but hey .... here in Europe we don't spray that much poison on the crops.

It's not just strawberries that people need to wash, it's all fruits and vegetables.. I thought it was normal that people wash their fruits and vegetables before consuming until I saw Tik Toks of people shocked. 🤦🏼♀️

Strawberries are grown in the dirt, bugs are part of nature. Always rinse your produce well. People these days have become such sissies. I grew up in the country and a few bugs were not a big deal, you just rinse well before using.

Yeah I was watching the ones with broccoli and at first I was like omg I need to do this now before I make broccoli but then it's like................ People have been fine without doing this everyone needs to chill lol the only things I sometimes soak for a second are raspberries to get mold spores off so they don't go bad as fast.

I usually don't watch vlogs, but I got hooked on Tara's vlog and videos. Her drive makes me strive to do better for myself.
The strawberry “hack” is meant to be a way of cleaning the strawberries, likes you’re mean to do with all fruit and veg. Less of a “eww look at the bugs inside my strawberries” and more of a reminder to wash the dirty and debris off them. Some people use Castile soap for washing them but it’s easy to just use a bit of salt to soak in water and then wash off the salt under some fresh water

I think the strawberries have to have sat in your fridge or somewhere for a while before the bugs appear because I believe they are fruit fly larva. So as long as you only eat fresh not squishy strawberries they should be fine.
That makes sense! I tried the strawberry thing after I did my regular rinse on them and there was nothing in the bowl thank god
They’re in there everytime when they’re picked wild. They grow outside and flies lay their larvae in them where there’s a food source when they hatch. Whenever we pick them we throw them in soda water until the larvae come out and then we eat them.

There are bugs in literally everything, especially processed food. It you buy organic produce there will be more bugs. Wash your produce and you’ll be fine!

I gotta agree, her making her iced coffee in every vlog doesn't bother me. In fact, I bought identical products just to make this iced coffee for myself! I even froth up the milk sometimes, and it's just such a great treat for myself. Thanks Tara!! ✨
This makes me laugh so much because where I live we eat the strawberries directly from the plant on the ground with all the dirt on it and let me tell you nothing's gonna happen to you if you eat it like that, a bit dramatic in my opinion:DDDDD BUT regardless if you buy it from the store you should always wash your fruits because yess dirt and bugs are going to be on the fruit (but with all the GMO stuff that's the least you should worry about), there's nothing that can be done to prevent it (I know this because my family have always produced our own food) but it's totally normal and a just a wash gets rid of anything and that's it. I can tell you those strawberries are not organic because real ones are sooo much more smaller than that.
ps: I'm not bashing Tara I love her soo much I've just been seeing the trend so much and it makes me laugh how people are soo dramatic about it and it's not even that big of a deal (well for me it's not at least) but I do understand that not all people know this stuff.

I get you with the organic food thing tho. I used to work in the fields for an organic grape company they still spray them with sulfur, and often we would bag the organic grapes as non organic. The organic food industry is such a scam y’all.

I’ve been wondering where people have been getting their strawberries too 😂 I either get them from aldi or a big bulk of them from the strawberry places during summer. I’ve never had bugs come off of mine like the Tik tok video 😬
About the strawberries! Someone did a test where they did the strawberry thing before and after rinsing the same pack (soaked some without rinsing, soaked some after rinsing) and found the rinsed ones had little to no bugs.
But in general, bugs aside, it's a good idea to rinse then soak your fruits in water mixed with salt and white vinegar - this helps clean off dirt, bugs, pesticides, and keeps them fresh for much longer! It also helps with waxy apples.

The big thing can happen because the strawberries r packed directly after being picked and the bugs which r also there can stay on them occasionally, however they r not inside they r in the fruit (if they r inside the fruit will look rotten and have a hole in it)washing the fruit will get rid of any hitch hikers, hence y they say to wash ur produce. So it's not technically a lie but it's just a natural thing that is a product from being grown outside. Still interesting to test tho...also the salt does nothing it works the same in regular water. I enjoyed ur video 🤗

You should get blue light blocking glasses to try and help your eyes from not hurting so much. I recently bought some from doing school for hours online and they have helped a lot. I got mine off amazon for like 20 bucks

I tried the strawberry hack and it worked for me I added a ton of salt though and let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinsed it and there were like two small bugs in mine!! they didn’t taste salty after I rinsed them either!! i think it’s a good hack I’ve been doing it with manli all my vegetables to and I’ve noticed that it does work on those too

Your vlogs are literally the only thing getting me through quarantine.
For the strawberries, we can use vinegar and water and let them sit for at least 20 or 30 minutes and afterwards you wash it with water. It works well with my strawberries; I always find like really small bugs on them and it doesn't change the way it tastes.
you should get bluelight glasses i have them and they help my eyes sooooo much! they are not actual glasses they just help with staring at screens for a while you can get them off amazon no doctor needed!
If you want to taste even less bitterness in your coffee, try cold brew. It's amazing!
Tara you have to try one I tried! I used white vinegar and salt kind of eye balling they are the same amount. I got so many critters that came out.
Ok so about a month ago I came across you vlog channel and have been watching ever since so I binged watched you one. I to moved to eating clean with my husband and love it. So we tried your recipes and love them. One of our favorites is your gnocchi dish with spinach ( we add sun dried tomatoes after its cook). We love it! My favorite is the whipped coffee in Almond milk. I did try it with regular coffee crystals but it was too much. So, I got the decaf crystals and it turned out way better.

I tried this too and got no bugs (thank god) ... but I googled it and it said only some strawberries unlucky enough to get a certain kind of bug's eggs laid inside them react to the salt water. So basically you have to get a "special" batch!
To clean strawberries...one cup white vinegar to 8 cups of cool water in a large bowl. Place berries in water mixture and gently swirl for a few minutes to dislodge all the dirt and kill bacteria and spores. Then rinse in cold water and place on paper towel to dry. DO NOT remove the stems! Clean the contai er they came in and line with paper towel. Place berries back in container on the stem, in single layers with paper towel between each layer and they will keep longer.
