Based on this video, I took the plunge and bought one. I have a gigantic head with a 7 5/8 hat size. That helped at work because nobody stole my hat. Plus, my head is long, front to back, and narrow side to side. Getting a helmet to fit right was almost impossible. I splurged on a HJC modular that just gave me a splitting headache in under two hours, every time.
I took a chance and bought a SuperSeer, sight unseen. FITS PERFECTLY. The inside of the helmet looks harder and less forgiving but it is honestly very easy on my head. Very neutral. My only regret is not buying one sooner.

Just snagged this video and really appreciated your comments on the practical Seer half helmets. Lost my favorite Premier blue and white and have always wanted to replace it with this tried and true. So comfortable as you say as well as durable, and best fitting. Always appreciated the easily installed ear warmers too. Nice!! Pre take video was hilarious 😂

I like the idea of carbon fiber and half shell for long rides because my spinal stenosis kills my neck on long rides. I used to wear a novelty helmet which gives little protection but saved my neck on 600 mile days. This looks like a good option.

While I like the idea of the protection offered by a full-face, I overheat very easily, and have yet to find one that doesn't severely restrict my (above average) peripheral vision. I normally wear a 3/4 that has great ventilation and wide field-of-view but have worn a half on several occasions. Interestingly, the half helmet seems to have less wind noise. The Seer has been in my favorites menu for quite some time, and after seeing how good the quality is, it will be my next helmet for sure!

A lot of guys would be angry hearing you say You ride better than they do. I was employed driving a commercial vehicle for 34 years and subjected to driving skills and knowledge not available to most. Today i bought a helmet ( Bell Scout Air ) getting ready to take my motorcycle class in a couple weeks. Staying back, slowing through intersections and leaving stopping room. real important. If you pay attention hard enough you won't enjoy riding. That was told to me at 15 years old and i have always remembered it.. Your slow riding and turning video has been a lot of help.. Thanks

Motor officers are among the top 2% of riders in the U.S. because of the training we receive and continue to get throughout our careers. So if people get angry when I say I ride better, prove me wrong. There are now competitions throughout the U.S. where anyone can compete with motor officers as long as they qualify.

We have a very busy 4 way stop where i live and countless number of people run the stop sign once they see you are about to have the right of way completing a stop before them. Many never slow down at all seeing only one other car approaching the intersection. Somehow the intent of your stop signals them that they are covered and speed through. In the corporate world nothing is ever about safety, its all about money and liability. My employer gets a huge free pas from Florida DOT never having to complete repairs on many things private vehicles were always getting stopped for all the time. The DOT never bothered our equipment unless driver error was an issue but never stopping a vehicle for lights not working or countless other mechanical issues. Drivers being fired for running stop signs while others working in other locations were never spoke to about it. Its never about safety. The biggest obstacle is teaching your self patience, The act of sitting five seconds at a stop sign before moving is impossible after years of habit and motor skills. Realizing this and relearning new behavior is a task of some difficulty for most having to draw back on old skills and begin a new approach with goals that are planned. Ask anyone to challenge themselves to stay five seconds before moving on at a stop sign. most wont do it or cant even when that is their intent ..It becomes genetic behavior of sorts, But then being retired i am never in a hurry and have unlearned the work mentality of getting it done yesterday..

Hey Motorman, I took advantage of the discount for the SEER helmet, which will be ready in a couple of weeks. Thanks? I opted for the Carbon Fiber with Harley Davidson Twisted Cherry color. In the mean time, I need to decide on the type of ear harness (close or open) to install once they tell me the helmet portion is done. I will be using a SENA 20S communications device that is coming off my prior 3/4 helmet. BTW, I've never worn a half helmet. Hopefully you can help me decide on which harness will be best for my needs concerning the comms I will be using. With the closed ear harness the speakers will be inside of a pair of Super SEER ear muffs which are made a fuzzy material and are attached to the inside of harness with Velcro. The representative at SEER said that this type might be a bit warm in hot climates. BTW, I live in NC. The other option (open ear) is a type that you are probably familiar with as a motor officer. My understanding is that the Super SEER ear muff is made of a hard material that mounts outside the open ear harness. Is this the type that you used when you were running comms as a motor officer? The PROS and CONS of each as I see them are: Pros of the closed ear harness is that there will be less wind noise and the material will be softer against the ear. Con: Possibly too hot. The open ear harness; Pro: Cooler. Cons: possibly more wind noise and semi hard ear muff pressing against the ear. What say you? Thanks and sorry for the lengthy post.

From Snell: The five-year replacement recommendation is based on a consensus by both helmet manufacturers and the Snell Foundation. Glues, resins and other materials used in helmet production can affect liner materials. Hair oils, body fluids and cosmetics, as well as normal "wear and tear" all contribute to helmet degradation. Petroleum based products present in cleaners, paints, fuels and other commonly encountered materials may also degrade materials used in many helmets possibly degrading performance. Additionally, experience indicates there will be a noticeable improvement in the protective characteristic of helmets over a five-year period due to advances in materials, designs, production methods and the standards. Thus, the recommendation for five-year helmet replacement is a judgment call stemming from a prudent safety philosophy.

SEER helmets are great! I purchased one from a motor officer in Michigan that was selling it because the police force there was changing over to the Shoei 3/4 helmet, due to numerous head injuries from impacts to the unprotected back of the head. Mine had the straps system instead of foam in the liner, which really provided great air circulation. Ended up selling it because it was to big and adjusting the headband and straps just didn't work for me.
Motorman, do you find that people cut you off or do other stupid stuff More or Less or the Same as, when you are riding your police bike look alike as compared a typical stock bike?? The reason given as to why motor officers wear the Half helmets is so they can easily communicate with it on, that is the reason they are switching to the 3/4 or modular helmets.
