The guy on the trike must be an awesome rider. He never put his feet down.
Mr Green bike should trade in for a trike.
LMAO 🤣
He never seems to scrape his pegs either.
ROTFL
One of your best videos yet! Ppl.call you a jerk because you're ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! Keep the out takes and showing right way vs wrong way. Very helpful. (BTW, is that the FLHTK Daytona Blue?)
I been ridin for 40 years, but I appreciate the tips cause there’s always things I can learn
Man you said it been riding 20 and still ain't an expert.
Shoe soles. When the cost of brake pads is just too damn high!
LOL!
Nike must make a HELL of a damn good brake 'pad'! :-)
The guy that gave the thumbs down must be king foot dragger. Great video.
Ladies please. If your husband or boyfriend paddles like a duck at stoplights...please get off the back and walk. Take a bus home or thumb a ride if you have to. But do not get back on the motorcycle until he learns to ride. If he is too cheap to spend $30, or too lazy to practice for a couple of hours, he doesn’t deserve to have you on the back. Jerry has given you a foolproof way to tell that your rider is a doofus.

Graduate of the "Fred Flintstone School of Riding". Yabba Dabba Don't.
Great example of why I have done Sturgis twice and don't see a need to go back during doofus week. Now we only plan on going when everyone else is NOT attending the rally weeks.
That's what I'm thinking as well.
That's the ONLY time I will ever go out there! If ever I'm anywhere during a 'rally'....my bike stays parked! (unless we are headed out on a day ride on non busy routes, of course)
OMG, Jerry! I needed those laughs. Donna was hilarious as the miffed pillion rider. Y'all make my day.
Thank you. 👍
@@motorman857 I want to know how many takes you needed to do it wrong... cos reflexes! :) Thanks, that was some awesome stuff.
(Personally I'd have invented my own category of doofus, ride it up onto the sidewalk and then back onto the street at the next driveway.... *ducks*)
Another great and hilarious video, i never noticed how many people don't know how to ride their bikes until watching your videos now i see it all the time. I wasnt as good of a rider myself only been riding little over a year until watching your videos , buying some cones , finding some empty parking lots and practicing using your tips and advice. Now i have guys who have been riding for decades ask me how i learned to ride the way i do, turn as sharply as i do and do those full lock uturns on a big cruiser. I have forwarded links to your videos countless times. Thanks for all the great tips
thank you, 👍
The only time to drag your feet is if you step in something nasty.
Just yesterday saw a guy dragging his feet on some Harley on I-15 going over 70mph. Doofus too nice a word.
@gemini232003
Got a link?
Wheres Barney when you need him😂😂
I saw a guy doing it on a sidecar...being pres of the state sidecar club, yes, I gave him hell about it. Said he was a afraid of falling over, on a sidecar. Hate to admit this, but I told him it was time to sell it, I think he did...may have saved his damned life.
Sometimes you need to stretch, or divert air up towards your balls
That's me! I'm bow legged and wear out my boots heels to the outside. I was just trying grind some off the inside of the heel to make it flat. Lol
Been riding most my life. At 71 years young still doing 15K plus miles a year. That being said there is always something to learn. Thanks for the Great Videos!!!
Hope you're still riding safe!
Thanks to you Jerry! I am not a foot dragger! Due to your RLAP techniques, tips, and tricks you have helped understand motorcycling better. “Donna, thank you as well, and I love your jacket”! Loved the intro as well!
Thanks Karen!! I got my jacket a couple years ago from Revzilla. 👍😎
Doc Donna I love Revzilla! I purchase my helmets there. Thank you!
Jerry and Donna, that was one of the best demonstrations you two have ever done! I wish all riders could be convinced to watch this. The humour was really funny and right on point. The lessons here are not just to prevent embarrassment but actually seriously needed with a heavy bike in real traffic situations. Well done, I really smiled at you two in the Doofus UTurn demo... thanks
Loved this video because, before taking your RIDE LIKE A PRO Class, that doofus was me. Now I am a good rider (not an expert) and still have much to learn. Sadly I can't consistantly do an 18 foot U turn but I can consistently do a 22 foot turn. Progress is slow but sure.
Try putting more weight on your pegs
William, on a slow speed turn including u-turn, shift your body opposite the lean of the bike to counter gravity, unlike in a normal speed curb.
22 is good. I had to take almost two years off riding due to a pinched nerve in my neck. Could not support a helmet on my head, left arm would go numb, couldn’t turn my head to look back, but I’m getting back into it. Don’t have the feel back yet but my turns are occasionally down to 24 ft.
I can drag my footboard all the way around in a circle. Thanks to Jerry!!
@@TheBadasbert Jerry just gave you the tools you needed -- DOING it is something that YOU can be proud of!
Thanks Donna - keeping it real for us. Oh - and thanks to you too Motorman!
Ten minutes of "warm up" at the start of my ride gives me lots of time to slow race, 90 degree turn from a stop, U-turns and figure 8s..
Helping me not be a doofus daily.
You're welcome DED1939...I love doing the videos with Jerry...never a dull moment, LOL 🤣🤣👍
Love the sense of humor, Motorman. And Liam Neeson's clip from "Taken" fits right in. On the serious side, you tell it like it is. Thanks for the common sense.
The first "doofus" may have looked dumb but at least he got through that turnaround without dumping the bike and hurting his wife.
I found your channel a week ago, binged about 15 of your videos, and your techniques IMMEDIATELY worked for me and made me a better rider. Some day, I want to get down to Florida and take your course, so I can lose the doofus label!
Love the end if the video! Lol
Thank you for everything you do to help people ride safer. Going to check out your sons channel now.
thank you!
She might be a little bitty girl but we all know who’s the real boss. You’ve got a great sense of humour man.
Christ alive thats a funny ending. I will admit to being one doofus but im trying so hard to actually be a better rider. So i may be a doofus but no idiot. I accept my own failures weaknesses and strive to improve those each day. Thanks for the fun video.
What you Just wrote means you're not a doofus bro
Sorry if I assumed your gender ;)
@@thierrytu its okay you assume correctly I believe bro
Always a good moment in my day when THE motorman puts out a new video.
I laughed my ass off. I've been riding since 1966 and still learn from your vidios. Thank you
I rode on the street for a few years as a young man. In my 30s, I got a new bike and was given a tape on how to ride on the street by a patrol officer. I got more out of that 50 minute video than I thought I could be taught. I learn how to ride in all situations with my feet up using brakes and throttle. Very cool.
been riding 50 years and ive been a doofus a few times. im gonna practice this today
I just bought my first bike 3 weeks ago. 600+ miles in and I don't do any of these. I think the main reason people ride (duck walk) like this is because they never took a CHP course. Love the content. Straight forward, no bs
Hi Jerry. I love re-watching/ reviewing your videos and tutorials. It inspires me to get out there and practice. Thank you so much for your efforts and CZcams videos.
Glad you like them!
GET THE VIDEO. It is well worth the asking price. Years back when I was getting into motorcycling as a senior citizen, I found a copy of Ride Like a Pro at a flea market. I had no idea who Jerry was or whether the DVD would be worth the buck I paid for it. I watched it several times before the basic rider course. It was the single best thing I've done for my motorcycling skills. Every piece of instruction was right on the money. I was the best rider in a class of about 15, and it's due to the video.
I think you should have been on the back of the bike when Donna did the U turn Motorman.
Love the vids.
@@ron_grimes agreed. We men have the lid on doofus.....at least according to my wife, sometimes! :-)
Jerry.....Don't ever change.
Head n' eyes....Head n' eyes! But for the grace of Motorman, there I go!
I got 99% on my "BRC" skills test because of the 90° turn from a stop into a 20ft U I touched on in the middle of my turn.
The bike they supplied me was acting like it was running out of fuel spuddering hard when given an even hold of the throttle with clutch released. We even filled it up the bike before the test.
It would start jerking in the slow speed maneuvers even in friction zone.
I think the teacher thought I was trying to "show off". Idk how cool I would look bucking back and forth in a skills test lmao
I passed the test even with that junk. I can only thank you an all the other guys that give us new riders good info !!
Thank you !!
This course has saved my life...I swear by these classes and videos. I keep one of your cards on my wallet to share with people that need help
I love to watch your videos. Since you’ve been bringing Donna into the videos more and more it’s even more fun because you guys are very special team working together.
My cousin's spouse was a motorcycle cop. He taught her and their daughter to ride, and he once told me that that the important thing was to LOOK where they wanted to go and let the bike follow.
Watching your videos is making me a better rider....thank you sir
Thank you for turning me into an EX-doofus, Jerry. Your video proves that a person is never too old to learn, if he's willing to listen to the experts! Greetings from the Netherlands👍😎🇳🇱
"She's pushing and pushing, he's still holding the brake" 😂🤣
Legendary doofus 😆
That guy who's dragging his feet... I thought helmets were the law everywhere, no if's or but's. Damn, that's dull. Full gear ALL the time. Life is precious. Nice one Jerry 👍
i believe only 2 states dont have the helmet law but thats soon changing
@Davey Smith I used to think you looked like a moron if you wore a helmet. (that was my teenage years) but as i got older i now see it like this. your a fool if you dont wear a brain bucket. hell even a skull cap or 1/2 helmet is better than nothing..BESIDES WHAT ELSE ARE THEY GONNA USE TO SCRAPE YOUR BRAINS OFF THE PAVEMENT.
I THINK THERES ONLY 2 STATES THAT DONT HAVE THE HELMET LAW
@Davey Smith and people have died doing less than 30. my point was well said in the pervious reply. your a fool not to wear one.
@Davey Smith i didnt call you or anyone names. your reading into this out in left field.. and by the way i am a outlaw biker so if you want to start making remarks such as you stated in your previous statement continue on and soon you be road kill
Thanks to you Jerry, I’m not a Doofus. Keep the videos coming with your money back guarantee, 😂!!!
Experienced and felt foot almost get pulled under wife's rear foot board around slow turn, pulled it back in on time, may have pulled me off or worse, I think every time we ride, no matter what your experience...we are always learning, and if you ever get too comfortable, you become a liability .
Always ride with thick leather boots! That's what saved, and my foot.
While I was in Sturgis this last week I applied your turning techniques on Iron Mountain Hwy and Needles Hwy I picked a "line" in the ditch of the inside of the turns to keep my head turned and found that it was easier and smoother riding the curve than it was when I didn't look off the pavement.
Great video, I was laught out louad at the wife pushing the bike sequence 😁😁
Dip in the opposite direction, hug the side before the turn, look, friction zone, and rear brake. I know you say it all the time but these demonstrations reinforce the procedure. Having a demonstration is worth a thousand words. Much appreciated.
Motorman thank you for posting these videos. After a 20 year absence of motorcycles I bought another bike. I watched some of your older videos and they were a tremendous help. They kept me from looking like a doofus.
Love your videos! I started subscribed to you channel the day i thought about getting a new to me bike again. 20 something years off the saddle, i knew i had a lot to re-learn! I put these videos to practice on the parking lot. As well as a quick warm up run around the neighborhood before each ride. It just amazes me how many riders don't put in even a few minutes to get it under control. My favorite thing to watch is "experienced" riders attempt a u turn...Thanks for all your great videos, I can slow turn like a champ! The videos must be put to task, just watching, doesn't make practice! Practice makes perfect if you understand the technique. A few U turns and a couple figure 8's, really help to get the head in the game for a good, safe ride! Thanks Jerry!
He who has never been a dufus throw the firs stone....
@De Sign
Yes but after the first year or two you should be able to ride better. Maybe not like a pro, but better than that. That's just lazy.
@De Sign These people in the Sturgis video and well, any and all motorcycle rally's on youtube you see duck walking and dragging their feet, are not new riders. They have many years and miles. What they don't have is technique and skill. My goal is to transform these riders into highly skilled riders. And I've accomplished this with thousands upon thousands of riders. Both in my classes, the 22 schools around the country and via my Ride Like a Pro video's and the 1500 free video's I have here on youtube. And you've done exactly, what? Other than posting stupid comments, of course.
@De Sign You have no clue what your talking about. None. Zero. That may be why you have zero subscribers and zero content on your channel and I have 134K subscribers and 1200 video's and millions of views.
@Davey Smith If you were never a dufus, your comment just pushed you over the finish line:-)
I watch these videos and practice everyday. I've only been riding about three weeks now
Today while out riding. I came up to a road closure. I went over to one side of the road and I made a u turn. Without putting my feet down. Thanks for the videos!!!
I make it a goal every ride to put my feet down as little as possible. Your videos are great, keep up the good work
Yep. I pick em up as soon as I'm moving and don't like to take em off until I've come to a complete stop.
I practice that as well, can do stopsigns and most stoplights if not stopping for more than a moment
Jerry, Maybe he's got magnets on the bottom of his boots and is dredging for souvenir coins
THANKS Motorman .... You made us LAUGH all the way through this one !!!!!!!
It’s seriously more tiring to ride like that guy in the green bike in Sturgis. Once I graduated from doofus to non-doofus rider, I kept my feet on pegs/boards for as long as I could.
LOL, looks like foot dragging guy found the video and disliked it
I had never put my feet down until I came to a complete stop . If it was just a stop then go even then my feet never touched the ground .
🤨
LMAO!! "We're gonna catch up to him again, don't worry, he's GONNA STILL be dragging his feet" ...😂😂😂 Thank you for making me laugh!! I wonder how many pairs if boots this guy goes thru with all of this foot dragging.
I thought the Motorman was exaggerating about the Foot Dragging King, until I saw him go through the intersection with his feet down. Crazy!
Since watching your videos, I am a much more confident rider, thank you.
Maybe they should re name the town Doofus for the bike week, Ohh how I laughed! Almost everyone drags the feet and wears no protective gear. Ride safe all.
Jerry, you’re the best!
Love all of your videos👍
I bought your ride like a pro years ago and it changed my riding forever. No more looking like a fool.
Good to hear.
I am so glad you added a Sturgis Clip, year after year we laugh and joke about the complete lack of riding skills of so many people that own motorcycles!
There’s no better feeling than scraping floorboards on a full dresser two up in front of everyone at a Harley cruise night. Get some training and stop being a laughingstock people. Set the example and stop being a doofus. Jerry, you’re the man.
The kid at the end. Brilliant!
You are awesome buddy
Now i have a name for it; Duck walking. Thanks 😊
This is one of the best! You get instruction and comedy. Who could ask for more?
Doofus, been a classic description for years and years.... Thanks Jerry, and I enjoy the vids you put out.
I see so many Harley riders dressed up like an outlaw with ape hangers so tall they can hardly reach them, dragging their feet. Always hilarious.
Yep. They're all over my city in the summer! 90% won't wear a helmet either.. that bandana ain't gonna help much. these people are a big part of why motorcycle fatalities are so high. The sportbike groups are filled with a different type of clown. Meanwhile, highway pulls aside, I can usually outride em on my rebel250. I didn't even buy the rebel until I'd mastered all the low speed stuff on scooters and mopeds. Been two wheel only for three years now. I ride every day, icy roads aside. I guess I'm not a biker til I buy some 800lb behemoth tho.
Yep..same as no earplugs..and no sunscreen 🤣
@@zenandtwowheels I keep a can of sunscreen in my backpack.. no earplugs tho. Helmet does that pretty well and my bike is pretty quiet. Don't do much highway either.
@@jseden I understand your earplug story but in The Netherlands there has been a test a few years ago with the police and their helmets and after 8 minutes with that helmet with a 100km/h the first hearing problem starts. A lot of them are getting deaf. I got a tinitus from riding without the plugs and A friend of my only road 3 km to the supermarketer with about 50 km/h and has this hummm in his ear for the rest of his life. Just to give you an idea. I had them custom made and do not even know they are in
@@zenandtwowheels well I spend all day in a loud ass glass shop anyway.. between torches, ventilation, air compressors and other equipment, it can be tough to hold a conversation. Headphones block a decent amount of it but I'm sure it'll take a toll on my hearing in the long although it's still pretty sharp after a decade+ of this. My helmet, shoei qwest really does block quite a bit as long as it's closed. Much more than the icon alliance I was using before. Most of my riding is on a rebel 250 with stock exhaust. It's quieter than most cars. I also have a windshield and I rarely spend more than a few minutes on the highway (usually going 60-70). Aside from that, I'm rarely going much faster than 40 mph, ~60kmph.
Ja, ja, ja. Hilarious, indeed. I have seen it, too! 😊 Thanks!
Why was the little kid imitating 46 at the end? I like your videos Jerry. After riding for the past 50 years, I still can learn from you and practice what you show. 2016 BMW R1200GS
The guy on the Green motorcycle at the end will need New Boots 👢
Great video Jerry!! Straight forward, no nonsense and to the point!
I’m so glad this video showed up in my feed. Your training course should be included as an MSF advanced course.
The camera angle in the traffic u-turn is great because it’s showing exactly where you are supposed to look.
OMG I loved this video. Of course I'd be in jail if someone pulled a wheelie behind me like that.
Obviously drunk
From the confused jibber jabbering clip at the end, That was possibly a early film of Joe Biden.
Love the guy in the Green bike.
He dragged his head as well that's why he's bald.
He must carry a dozen pair of boots with him.
When he shops for boots he asks for long life treads.
Great footage. Thanks
Best laugh yet.

Good morning Jerry we need you to come to Canada 🇨🇦 to give us some courses. You’re the best yet!!!
I guess I’m a Doofus. Thx Jerry.
Wow that guy doing a wheelie was being dangerous as hell.
Most likely alcohol involved!
He wrecked!
@@davehamilton8034 yes we all know. Which is why I said he was being dangerous. He clearly wasn't being a responsible rider.
Epically stupid!! With a passenger!! Asshole

Every time I get on my Scout, I say a thank you to Motorman and Donna for all their honesty, resources and training ... your training has saved my life numerous times on the road....
The wheelie master lol
I’m so glad I took lessons and some coaching from an experienced group of riders when I first started. I see a lot of doofuses out there on the roads!
In cars, bikes, big trucks, even some pedestrians
That’s the funniest thing I’ve seen in a while. Motorman it sounds like you don’t go to Sturgis. Been riding 54 years now and I haven’t been.
Love the friction zone...
That bike will stand up on its own...
Good video!!!
I brought me a 02 Electra Glide on Monday...I took it out for the first time the clutch is way better than my Yamaha V Star...I can't wait to go see Jerry and Donna

I was watching some Sturgis videos and, man, there was a lot of duck walking going on there.
I've been to sturgis several times, about half the riders drag their feet, if you're dragging your feet you can't use the rear brake dufus's
Always wise words mr motorman love from wales uk
Thank you for finally doing this so I didn’t have to. I’ve wanted to see this since I bought your first tape (in VHS). @@edgeofentropy3492 Coaches do it all the time, that is what he is, a coach. I bet people are more conscious about it themselves who do it. Only time I could see doing it is when in stop and go traffic where you move mere inches at a time, or Daytona in that horrific traffic. Your feet need to be on the floorboards or pegs where the controls are and for balance to maneuver. Dragging your feet can cause you to go down if foot catches.
I saw a guy ride down my street the other day with both feet dangling off the sides and thought how unsafe it was. I didn’t know it was a thing. 😂
And to think all the years ive rode I never used the brake like you have taught me a year ago ...what a difference in control. Thank you
Glad to help. But now, it's time to practice without the rear brake. That will make you much better at clutch and throttle.
