The rust all over this cart worries me considering my 773 gets delivered this week.

Matco doesn't make the 770 anymore, much improved 773 has been out for more then a year.

What are the improvements? And I heard the paint doesn't last long in them and wears off after a short amount of time was that problem addressed in the 773?

I have one that was 2 years old when I got it for $700. I have the same problems with the drawer catches, the side holes have smaller holes below them and it’s a little big to get around our tight shop. I do really like the low front lip so you’re not reaching down into it and it holds a lot and is nice to work out of. I would recommend it for someone that works in a spacious environment and needs to move a bunch of tools around.

Great example of a horrible Matco cart and the boxes are no different. 1. awful powder coat coverage 2. Developing rust in those areas. 3. Less then a year of use and the draw slides are worn 4. Particularly the matco and Mac boxes And carts have a lot of draw wobble new which is compounded by the premature draw slide wear. I’ve owned both matco carts and boxes. For the price paid and quality received there are much better options. I was a huge matco guy and after all the quality issues etc. Not to mention they don’t resale. The market is always flooded with people getting rid of matco carts and boxes replacing them

The stainless steel top is held on by double sided tape its a peice of garbage

    • @CoyleTools

Why does that mean it's a piece of garbage? I've seen lots of these carts and how the top is affixed hasn't been an issue for anyone I know who owns one.

cart is garbage, I have the same cart and the tension knob on the side of the draw broke off , matco warranty two set of rails for me when it was still under warranty. And now I'm out of warranty I just have a couple draws without tension knobs and the key lock doesn't open sometime. and I figure out why where the lock mechanism is there too much free play , fix measure out a rod from front to back of box jam it in so the lock area sheet metal doesn't move . and the cart is lest than 3 years old

I looked at these but around my area they tend to go for $800-$1000 I ended up going for a 6 drawer monster(homak made) cart that hit my wallet just right at $300. Very good video and you're right that box will last you forever, I was replacing a Matco box I bought in 2005 brand new for $560 (prices have seriously changed) and this box is constructed much more sturdy than that one. Incidentally, if you know a good place for me to find some replacement drawer slides I would be very appreciative. Keep up the great content 👍👍

Thanks for your encouragement, it means a lot! Good info, too, on your cart experience. Regarding the drawer slides, you can order them directly from Matco if you call. I've ordered lock and key sets, drawer slides and some other things from them. They're very helpful. 866-289-8665.
