I remember getting our first vcr, and it was a big deal. And, we had to decide: vhs or beta?
I still have two VHS players and some VHS tapes 😹.
Beta was technologically superior but commercially lost to VHS because they wouldn’t allow porn to be recorded on it.

Late 80s, seemed like a much better time to be alive. People actually lived and experienced life. Seemed simple and more relaxed...compared to today. 2021 is misery compared to simpler times. Everyone I know is high on stress and low on patience.

Al couldn't support a family on minimum wage back then. The bundys didn't eat for multiple reasons. Peggy's lazy , wasteful spending and al didn't earn enough to make ends meet. Vcrs were super expensive back then, no way a shoe salesman can budget it.

In 1996 (I think i was 12), I remember saving up a bunch of money I got from relatives, and then a few days after Christmas, my parents took me to a local K-Mart to buy my own VCR for my bedroom. I forget how much it was, but it had to be close to $200.
