Yeah, she was awful. Her terribleness as a mother bothers me more than her terribleness as a wife, because at least Al can leave or (theoretically) go buy food (that is, if Peg hadn't spent all his money). The kids are just stuck there to starve and suffer while she stuffs her face.
But they did a good job writing her as a funny character despite her awfulness, LOL.
