I used to prep hundreds of scotch eggs a day in a pub I worked at for a while. I can confirm that her technique is spot on.
Then your scotch eggs must have been pretty bad. You should not use flour to flatten out the sausage. You, especially, should not keep folding the flour into the sausage meat like Kay did. you will get a dry sausage. When you have your sausage wrapped around the egg, then you lightly flour the sausage/egg ball, then dep fry it. BTW, you should add some flavoring to the sausage meat before making the Scotch Eggs.

I really feel like Kay has a pretty good idea that her cooking is "bad" or comes off silly, I think she might have originally started just making videos, but didn't stop when people said they were bad, because she was still getting all this attention and views, and the negativity wasn't enough to bother her. She seems to have enough wherewithal to know these foods should not look like this, but she casually glosses over it in a pretty comedic way. "Oh shoot that looks a little burnt on the edges" the food completely charcoal all the way through. "Hm I'm not sure if that's cooked all the way" Food totally raw. I'm almost positive that she knows, and she's just being cheeky because that became her style and she went with it, it's great, not everything has to be serious as long as she's happy. There's even something to her little smile sometimes like she's trying to hide a laugh, especially when she has Lee eat the food and say it's good, it's like an inside joke and she's made it her own thing now.

I'd like to think Kay has just recently "gotten into" cooking now that Lee is older. I'd imagine she was a working mom and didn't have time to actually cook full meals (just things you'd throw in the oven). Now that they're older and she has more time, I reckon she's working on cooking and thought she'd document her cooking on CZcams. I wanna befriend her, she seems like such a nice woman.

I'm not too sure. If she never cooked meals at home, the kid grew up with take out and/or ready meals. You can't go from there to unseasoned minced meat and like it. Even she herself would realise that it looks and tastes wildly different to the stuff she has been serving her family before starting her cooking journey.
I'm pretty sure she's just making food bad on purpose and is actually good at cooking she's just tired of her son living there and is trying to poison him.

When you buy ingredients, they usually taste pretty good naturally. You really have to go out of your way to craft these diabolical abominations. I consider Lee to have a superpower, and that is the ability to eat anything, no matter how odious or sinister.

I think she just doesn't have the proper technique. The recipes by themselves sound good most of the time. She usually needs to turn the stove down a little.
My mom is from Liverpool, England and when she makes sausage rolls it looks VERY different đ€Ł my mom is an amazing cook, and Iâm not just saying that because sheâs my mom. My momâs sausage rolls are something everyone looks forward to during Christmas â€ïž (and her fudge!)

Pro tip: always make sausage rolls and scotch eggs together because the sausage mix is the same (I use ground beef and seasonings, along with breading. The real hero is the coriander). Super easy to make.
Is there ever either fennel or sage in the sausage? I've never had an authentic version of either. I guess I'll just have to give it a go myself one of these days. PS- totally agree about the coriander
@@tinamarie7568 They would both totally work! Especially if you're going for a cajun-style sausage. Most sausage rolls and scotch eggs I've had have been pretty simple mixes with salt, pepper, nutmeg, and coriander. "Christina's Cucina" has the best sausage recipe IMO for her sausage rolls.

For our American and I think Kay is a genius. The sausage roll and balls has to be intentional. She probably has a lovely large home and this is her studio. And Lee is well compensated financially which is why he continues to show up. She has us all snowed, and Iâm grateful for it. đ

6:00 I mean.. that's how you make a scotch egg though lol it's a soft boiled egg wrapped in sausage and breaded, you can't bread things without dipping them in flour and egg, that's how breading works.
But also I'd hardly call that "sausage meat", it's more like pate, or a meat paste, sausage can be pretty finely ground but it still has particles, it's not paste.
I bet it picked up a few more "particles" from that table lol
That's actually what we call sausage meat in the UK/Ireland... I'm Irish, but Kay's British, and both countries are very similar in culture. We call that substance sausage meat.
It might have a different name in the US/other countries, but where Kay is from, its sausage meat.

The one that Kay has looks very processed, probably the cheapest version of sausage meat available. It probably tastes okay, but it won't be the best quality meat đ

So I'm just gonna go ahead and say it, she cross contaminated her entire bag of flour when she stuck her hands in there while handling raw meat. Kay follows the mantra "Just keep cooking". No matter what happens don't look back,don't start over,just keep cooking. Forgot an ingredient? Just keep cooking. Can't find a kitchen utensil? Just keep cooking. The food looks dry AF before going in the oven? Just keep cooking.
Put the eggs in room temp water, boil on stove, when the water gets to a rolling boil, start your count and boil for 7 minutes. Perfect hard boiled eggs every time
No 6-7 minutes is soft boiled. 12 minutes us hard boiled and 9-10 minutes is medium boiled with a creamy but cooked center.
