Very good video, answers a lot of my questions, I'm thinking of buying one, and was hoping to to set the speed limit to 30kmh, but it seems not possible without som kind of St unlocker. However, maybe there is a work around that as well. Greetings från Sweden
Thanks, i was thinking to buy one. Since i had some warranty problems on my merida. I had a w011 error for speed sensor, second time now, and they suspected i made some home made changes on the bike, which i did not. So i wanted to check it myself, to see on what ground they accuse me. I don`t know, still pricey for a tool to use once maximum twice a year.
Can you use this tool to change assistance levels on a SC-5003 display ? The display only has one port, can you connect directly to this device? (Husqvarna HC7) Tks

Excellent review, thank you. Just had E034 on my ep8, struggled to update firmware but finally got sorted. Some on-line say you cannot recover from a trashed firmware update and need this gizmo(or dealership) to hard wire in.... ;-)
Apparently I need a EW-AD305 adapter to go from the old style EW-SD50 to the new, smaller EW-SD300. A short length of the EW-SD300 cable would be useful also. This took way too long to figure out.
Was able to reflash with Android phone, finally. Killed all Blue Tooth pairings, put in airplane mode, only turned on the minimum and then shut it off and it restored on the first try. Back on the trails, yay!
Just a mention, the latest v5 of the E-Tube Project software is not compatible with the PCE-01 PC Link Device so if you are using a PCE-01 don't install v5, it won't work. v5 I am assuming is designed to work with the PCE-02. I just have the PCE-01 unit so am sticking with v4 as all I really need to do is to have the facility to reinstall firmware if I need to and to keep the firmware up to date, I can't justify buying the PCE-02 for such occasional use!
Thanks. On the back of the display there are several ports. Most likely one or two of them are just blinded with a plug. Remove a plug and insert the cable from the PCE02.

Is it possible to change the wheel size with this app/adapter? My bike still thinks it is running on 29'', even though I swapped them to 27.5'' ... so speed and distance is incorrect all the time ...
@@EMTBVideos too bad ... I was thinking of setting my next bike up for mullet with the option to go 29/29 to go "touring" and mullet for "bashing"/park ... Anyway ... the difference between 27.5+ and 29 is not huge, just that my ODO has inflated mileage... not mentioning my assist cutting out a bit earlier :(

Does the SC-E5003 connect to the motor wirelessly or does it need a wire connection? How would I configure the system to work with the SC-E5003? Any help would be great.
Hi. Not sure I understand. The SC-EM800 will work with the EP8. Both displays connect by wire. Most likely the existing cable will work for the EM800. I believe the SC-E5003 is using the new cable. If I'm mistaken, there are adapters available to make the EM800 work. I've never tried connecting two displays simultaneously, if that's what your considering. I wanna say it won't work, but who knows (:

I am very curious, Shimano is replacing my EP8 as the one way sprague was starting to pile up, and the dealer is telling me that this box is needed to program the new motor. Is that legit? I feel they are trying to get one over on me. Or do I just pay the $100.00? Thanks!
This sounds strange to me. Is this a Shimano Steps shop? Every Shimano Service Center should have this tool, and they need a higher level of access. The end user haven't got access to all the functionality. OEM level access is needed to set the motor angle. That could be done before the motor is shipped though, I guess.
@@EMTBVideos Sorry I may not have been clear, yes they have the tool, and are going to charge me $100.00 CND for them to be able to set up the motor. Or if they could get a tool to sell they would sell the tool to me. Either way, seems like I am getting hosed. Apparently Shimano is giving them, and therefore me a totally virgin motor.
Just an available port at the back of the display. Depending on what motor and display you've got, the PC02 plug might not fit without an adapter from old to new type plug.

@@EMTBVideos Yes, I believe the E6100 motor came out before the EP8. I’ll find out soon enough whether it works, if I remember I’ll let you and your viewers know.
Short update, the PCE1 had 2 cables and one of them fitted the SC-6100 head unit fine. The firmware rewrite went perfectly smoothly and there is no way I would try to do this again with the Wireless/Bluetooth option on a mobile phone again. The wired option was just so much more reliable, faster and simpler, just a shame that the black box to do it doesn’t come cheap.
How to connect Shimano SM PCE-02 to Giant Revolt E+ PRO bike, DI2, Shimano motor. I don't know if he can connect to the cable. And if somehow it can be connected, can the region be changed for a higher speed of 32 km/h? Who knows? thanks for the answers.
The region settings can not be altered in PCE-02, at least not with the basic user. I guess it's possible with the OEM level access, which almost no one has.
I would assume so. I don't know of any other hardware for the Shimano steps+di2. There is a PCE01 too that might work, but it's not produced any more afaik.
1 year late but still going to reply in case it helps someone else. For the "new" 12s Di2, you'll need V5 of the software and you'll need the SM-PCE02 hardware.
@@EMTBVideos I can confirm that you cannot do this through the Shimano E-Tube app. This can only be done using this device which is extremely expensive. But if you take it to a Shimano certified dealer in my case they did it for $30

@@jamiegrayson3739 Hi Jamie, i had to go to a bike shop with it. Users dont get access to many motor values, even with the Adapter. The Shop here in town couldnt reset it by thereself. They send the motor to Shimano so they can reset. But for real, i think there is a way to reset. But they keep it very secret. How do you get it ? Using a dongle or manipulate magnet position. I have an dongle here now ,but im afraid of using it now.
@@jamiegrayson3739 I was lucky....First I lied and sayd im not manipulate anything cause of warranty. But they saw it in the motor data Log. Unfortanetly I dont have to pay for Shimanos work to reset it. I read that they replace Motors with e014 too. But mine wasnt replaced, they reset it and i Just payed Money for work at the shop. So for real i think they dont even send it to Shimano, but thats Just a theory. I payed round 150 €.
Does the bike have to be turned on for this to work? My ep8 botched an update and now it will not turn on longer than 4 seconds then turns back off. The app can’t connect long enough to force an update.
It fixed it once I plugged it in and redownloaded the old software from shimanos site. Still going strong. Just not going to connect to the app anymore. Really no need to if it works perfect every time.

Same problem with my new DU-EP800, purchased the PCE02 but the cable ends are too large to fit the motor or the display, wtf?

No, don't think so. Not without dealer or oem-level access. There's a few things missing when you use the app as an end user.

I haven't got a bike to connect it to atm. But, yes, I believe the PCE02 will do that. I didn't look into the Di2 settings when I made this video.

It's been a while since I had a look at this. But as far as I can remember, it can be used to activate the light port.

The bike has to be switched on, and I believe I connected it before turning on the bike.
@@EMTBVideos i received today pce02 system and it wasn't necessary to switch on the bike. Fortunally i was able to repear à defect firmware update .
Never tested this myself, but it's nice it can be used to fix a failed update!

Hi, at 1:39 in your video you can select up to 85NM. I have the EP6 and can only select up to 50NM. Anyone know how to help?
Hi, not sure what's going on. The EP6 should offer 85 Nm too. But I guess it could be limited to 50 Nm in the ECO setting...

It's not possible with the end user level of access. I guess it’s possible with an OEM user.

Did you get this fixed? I just used app to update and failed. Now doing this same thing.
