Electric Mountain Bike Network Thanks for the informative video on Shimano and E-TUBE app I have learnt some tips from this video but I was waiting in anticipation for the ability to customise Eco mode as shown on the embn show a little while ago.Perhaps you could ask Pete this question and update the video on how to that would be great!Love the channel and all its content 👍🏻

It is a pity that I can not sort the display myself. And hey! Why do I not have a button for the display on the left lever?????

Somewhat useful, but it doesn't explain what the various levels of the different modes mean. Any suggestions much appreciated.
First of all thank you for the video.
As a guy coming from technologically oriented e-bike audience (rather then bike audience curious about ebike or switching to ebike from normal bike). I would like to see more customization.
1) Firmware updates are nice..
2) The profile settings, well the basic presets like "Turbo, Eco, etc" are good probably if you don't care how it works but you just like that it works, but for someone who know what he wants there should be more transparent way how to define profile.. I want this much power W, this much Torque Nm and for example this curve that will setup modulation of those parameters.. linear etc..
3) App is great way how to unlock the full potential of motor (no matter what it means for each Shimano motor). Yes the 250W nominal power limitation based on EU regulation is real, but the very same regulations does allow more for offroad use only *g) Article 2 REGULATION (EU) No 168/2013 ...and lets face it mountain bike is called mountain bike for a reason..

Thank you for the video, I appreciate it. Regarding riding characteristic, what does High, Medium, and Low actually translate into? How would I experience it on the bike. I can't find anything that explains it. What does it really mean?

No wheel size option so the displayed speed is not right when using non standard wheels and assistsnce speed limiter also cuts off ro early if we have smaller wheels.
I can't find the the different levels of the various modes explained anywhere. It's maddening. What is the difference between low and medium setting on trail mode for example. Is there any explanation anywhere, or do you just have to try each in turn and guess?
Why shimano cannot show rider input power, like specialized ebikes do?
The ECO mode is customizable now.
But only with PCEM box.

Was just about to say the same thing. Stop yammering & let the expert talk.
Bluetooth lost connection on my mates bike whilst updating the firmware for the switch, couldn't select anything on the computer from thereon, took it back to shop and even they couldn't get the switch to show itself even hardwired, had to rob one off another bike whilst his got sent back to shimano, 10 day turnaround, don't ever do any updates whilst out in the field or if your planning on leaving the next day or so for travels you will regret it if it goes wrong.
shame you didn't wait until V3.4.3 is out in a few days. I'd like to hear about what difference the new updates makes?
Is it possible to change the max speed from 25km/h to 30km/h .... ??? 25 is to slow on the single track's to follow the other riders....
Did you see on the first page the software he’s two to five stars note ! in fact, having used this software, the little we should say is « bullshit ». Why Shimano did not decide to massively improve this software ? Anything arriving ? It’s becoming urgent face to the strong Bosch competition with his V4 and 2021 update ! I am an ancient KTM Bosch, now Cannondale shimano. I will certainly change my engine brand for my next emtb
I would like to know if the setting exists to roll with power after a non pedal stroke input....say like the Bosch that claims in can be set to keep a 1 meter power roll when a non pedal stroke happens. Thanks, Tony
The steps is a gorgeous display and in the perfect place. I would like to get a Bosch cx bike but can’t stand the look of the purion, the Yamaha display A looks better than the Purion but the steps is something else.
There is Kiox and much better Nyon from Bosch. With navigation and many other widgets(altitude graphs...)
@@amiralagic612 your right it does look nice, I bought my wife the Bosch nyon recently to replace the intuvia computer on her bike and it’s amazing…lots of info, graphs, maps etc. wish Yamaha did something like that.

Really a problem that the power for each mode only has 3 level settings. That would be fine if people only weighed in very narrow ranges. Should be a like 10-20 different or just little ticks to customize the power levels. For instance my wife is super light weight and even a low level on eco might be too much for her sometimes when she wants harder training, even if the lowest setting is perfect, the medium level may be too much for her "medium". Just 3 settings for each mode is ridiculous.
You miseed that yon can change Eco with the Windows Application. Also 4.7 is the latest Fw.
Hi Guys, I have an SC-E5003 fitted as standard to my Merida 5000 E160, EP8 motor, which means I have no access to do set up changes to the motor, can I fit and use the SC-EM800 with the SC-E5003. Does the SC-E5003 connect to the motor wirelessly or does it need a wire connection? How would I configure the system to work with the SC-E5003? Any help would be great.
How do you reset all power levels to factory standard as the bike came when you have messed around with them please ?
Just got a 2021 Merida e140 400 it ain’t got this colour screen on ? Can anyone help with connection ? Or has it the wrong screen on ? Thanks
I wish my Bafang BBSHD had the Bluetooth option. You need to plug it into a windows laptop to deregulate it.
I have a a Shimano en500 on my bike with a ep8 motor. It’s a Husqvarna MC4 a few years old. Would it be worth up grading to a sc-e 8000 so I can us the e-tube app?
I’ve watched a video in German and it looks quite easy to change over.

I would have liked Pete to have gone over the ANT connection to garmin devices. Shimano documentation of this feature is poor.

A light years of third-party software where you can touch the torque and modify the echo to your liking. For when shimano?

First of all, disconnect all Bluetooth connections on your smartphone. Then it worked for me right away.

Contact your local Shimano S.T.E.P.S dealer as they can let you know if it is possible to do this. Are you not able to update your phone software?

Can u connect the shimano steps system with e-tube apps directly without any addictional bt dongle like d-fly? Mine is asking for a pairing code thant shown on steps display? My steps display didn't show anything :).

Lots of people claim to have bricked their motor updating firmware via the app
iv used it to cutomise boost will that brick my motor ?
Happened to me right after I brought bike home on a Saturday. Couldn't enjoy the new ride until Monday morning when shop opened and could plug into Windows PC using cable. $20 but at least it un-bricked it.
That happened to me. Much worse though. See above.

If it was they would have mentioned it, as far as I am aware the speed restrictions are set depending on the limit in the country the bike is being sold in.
Please tell the shimano guy to let us customize the eco mode. Default is applying to much torque imho.
This can currently be done on PC and we have heard the next IOS update may have this feature 👍
You were right. Update for iOS is out, it is cool now!
You csn do it by stepsderistictor aplication from google play cost ca 2$. Assistance parametrrs are available and much better than e tube offers.

Not at all! But you can if you'd like to customise your settings 👍
@@embn the setting I customise are my tyre and suspension pressures I.E things that matter. I assume you would use an app to adjust your toaster for perfect toast. the point is just because you can have an app for something does not automatically make it useful
@@tomquimby8669 Deprndinh from tider power assistance level can be to eeak or to strong.
In standard eco mode I vould go no more than 100 km trip.
After changing parameters for less assistance level I can go much more.
If the bike has 25 km/h limit than I do not need such big piwer in eco mode. The right smount is I achieve 25 speed and no more so sssistsns cut off not exist.
If I need more piwer I still can chsnge to trisl boost.
The eco mode is critical for long trips and must have option.

Turbo Levo owners look on in disgust, as we assumed all other ebikes had this option all along.

App would be much nicer if it actually connected to my bike. I have had nothing but problems getting the app to connect, it has in the past but now it won't work at all. Things I've done to try and fix the problem. 1. Deleted and redownload the app 2. Used phone bluetooth settings to forget the connection and retry connection 3. Made sure location services were on for the etube app permissions 4. Had the local shop connect via cable to the bike and have them reset the PIN and connection settings. Nothing works in the end and I will always get "connection interrupted" message when trying to link the phone (android pixel phone) to the bike. This app needs serious rework to make it more user friendly, I've never had so much trouble trying to link a bluetooth device to my phone.

Took like 20 seconds between launching the app and having it reach a state where it can actually read user input.
That's "poor" in my book and I would think totally unacceptable for the average smartphone user.

I think that you should give me a tee shirt, after I had to send the motor unit back to shimano, when it completely corrupted the BIOS during upgrade via Bluetooth - don't do it!
Get the bike shop good it via hard wire cable, and then you can faff about with these settings no problem.
You guys seem to push Canyon, but when you try to buy a bike from them, they treat you like they don't want your money! Could you do a video on how to trick them into selling you a bike.
They sold me one. It's really rather good.
Took about two weeks to arrive and don't trust their crap delivery tracking. Comes to UK via DHL, then delivered using another company. Very odd and scary at the time.

This app is catastrophic. Slow, not user friendly, very complicated to understand. Proof is this video that need to explain how it works. Besides E-TUBE did crash my Di2 on road bike during software update... no update possible and no shifting for a month. Only option was to use a cable and a PC. But I am using MacBook... shame on you Shimano, you are not a tech company, like Garmin with bad software it will be replace by Wahoo or other good competitor that know how important is a software!!!
