  • PCM replacement on a 1999 Dodge Dakota.
    Many of these vehicles have issues with the PCM, power control module. Try to find one with the same year model vehicle or ship it out to be repaired.

    Hey man, I recently started having these exact issues and your video was awesome, I’m someone who isn’t fully mechanically inclined and you made things real easy to understand. I’m gonna start with the coil and PCM and see if that solves me issue.

    Hey Robert I just wanted to let you know that when it comes to model gears anything produced after October of the model year is considered the following model year which could be one of the reasons you're having a problem with the year on the module. And after getting into a Dodge forum I found that there are three generations of Dodge Dakota the last one starts in 1999. Meaning the reason the module probably doesn't work is because it's for a different generation of Dakota.

    I fixed my 1993 5.2 Dodge Dakota finally. I replaced every single sensor and ecm. Still didn't work. To get to the point I found 3 clogged injectors. When I changed them out I found the tops of them had been rusting and flaking off into the injectors. They are very easy to diagnose with a cheap multi meter and a long handled screw driver. Lots of videos out there for testing them. I got a set of 8 Bosch 4 hole injectors on ebay for 100 bucks. They cost 68 for 1 at the parts store. Hope this helps. P.S. I had to re clean two more injectors. Some of the debris stayed in the fuel rail and ended up in the back 2 on the passenger side.

    I got question? I have a 2003 dodge Durango rt and I’ve been having problems with it not starting? Or not wanting to start. I checked battery alternator and starter all good some times I have to use starter fluid and it still won’t start it’s usually after sitting all night the next morning it won’t start? So it’s been doing this for a couple of months now. It usually starts after playing with it or after I kill the battery and have to jump it so this morning same thing didn’t wanna start I added starter fluid nothing my battery started dying so I grabbed another vehicle to jump it and nothing so I let it sit and juicy up and tried it again it wanted to start so i gave it a minute or 2 and tried it again and it started but my check engine light was on with a P0351 code so thanks for the video I’m just hoping this works on my truck it ain’t stalling or misfiring it just doesn’t wanna start and once it does it’s starts all day like I said until it sits over night so I’ve been trying to figure out what’s going on and I hope by replacing that it works

      If it starts fine when hot but not cold it may be a temp sensor.

    Hey Robert I’ve got a question for you
    My 94 Volvo 940s brake pedal feels fine while the car is shut off but when it’s started it has about 2/3 travel before it starts to even have any braking power I’ve tried bleeding the brakes many many times and still no better I replaced the master cylinder then bleed the brakes again and still no better I’m thinking it could possibly be the brake booster but let me know what you think the car does have abs if that makes any difference I’ve been bleeding the brakes in this order
    RR,LR,RF,LF
    If there’s anything I can explain better let me know
    I just really want to get the brakes working well again on this car cause it really is a great car

    If there are no codes present, keep track of your last fill ups. Bad fuel will send you down a path of issues thinking it parts or things about to fail. If stalling or engine bucking or sluggish performance continues, keep topping the tank with fresh fuel from a different gas station than your last. That could be the problem before chasing parts.

    The issue with the over drive light is probably something the aftermarket gear selector knob, there should be a button on the shift knob to turn OD off

    hello! i have a 2000 dodge dakota, V8 magnum and it sat for a little bit. I got it for a graduation gift as a project pickup, but i can not for the life of my figure out what is wrong with it. It will crank, but that’s it. We changed the coils, spark plugs, all the basic stuff, and even the sensor plugs. my dads a mechanic but is more on the ford side, so he doesn’t know dodges that well 😂, but good enough to replace and fix all the basic things. if you have any ideas that would be grand and help me give a little bit of a head start for it :)

      Hold on! Before going to a shop or dealership to repair or replace your main computer, go online and search for companies that send remaned PCMs. My computer went bad in my 03 4.7 Dakota. I found a company online, which has you fill out all the necessary info for them to program it and ship it to you. It cost me roughly 170 or so. It solved my truck's problems. And a warning to anyone having a PCM going bad, DON'T PUT IT OFF. If you let it go the bad PCM will cause other electrical problems.

  • @Roller76
    @Roller76 Před 4 lety

    Dude, I know this is after the fact but word to the wise, dont start taking computer components apart if you don't have experience. When you opened that PCM you never grounded yourself while handling the circuit board or anything. Even working on any components in a desktop computer or laptop you ALWAYS ground yourself or use a ground strap you put on your wrist. If you don't it's so easy to cause static which can destroy components on circuit boards. And if you're gonna mess with anything do some research first. If you can use CZcams then you can search the web.
