Oh man. Strength of Strings. Unbelievable.
One of the best songs ever written
That and 'If I hang around' are unmatched as far as that catalog goes.
It really makes me happy to know a new generation has discovered this masterpiece. Most people in my generation are unaware of this record. Gene Clark... the Byrd who flew under the radar.
Definitely dude still flys........ lol 👍🇺🇸☮️💯
I grew up with Gene Clark. No Other is our ultimate favorite
The playing band and backup singers are just too awesome.
I'm amazed at all the young people in the audience. Are they Gene Clark fans??
I always wanted to hear Gene do "The True One" live. You folks did a superb rendition and I know Gene would be proud of it.
Any time Genes music is celebrated has to be awesome
I’ve read some of the negative comments but the way i see it is these folks are up on stage respecting Gene. Is it Gene, no of course not but i appreciate the sentiment. Thanks for the upload. Gene Clark is truly one of our greatest songwriters.
Some of the best musicians of our time performing the album which is the definition of Cosmic American Music!
Clark's been gone just over twenty five years now. It's great to hear people perform his music. This brought tears to my eyes.
Same for me. Great performance!
i know you Dan
Same for me Liam. No Other is my ever favorite album. I purchased it in 1975 and have listened to it thousands of times. Shalom from Israel.
@@bustermcnamara9186 I don’t know u but now u got a like so u know me ok?🇺🇸☮️😻
@@cathsalazar9930 Hi Cath. I'd forgotten about this thread
I was lucky enough to see Gene Clark and Roger McGuin at the EL MOCAMBO in Toronto a couple of times how I found "No Other" I don't remember but I am so glad I did. So special.. I live in the UK now but this album has travelled with me wherever I've been. I can't believe I found this piece of gold even before they deleted it. What a collection of musicians. a truly classic work of art and one of my favourites of all time. I miss you Gene. I know there were more treasures in that head of yours.
A great soundtrack for exploring America's roadways. Imagine traveling through a western landscape with this music playing in the background.
I've done that, it was perfect through Wyoming.
@@byronfortier6555 Like reading Travels With Charley by Steinbeck.
Why imagine it? Go do it.
This wonderful project really only makes sense if you know and love the original album ... these guys absolutely nail it! What an astonishing re-creation. For any guitarist to figure out how to summon up the late Jesse Ed Davis's playing is a phenomenal trick on its own.
does it need to make 'sense'? I think it's great music even if you don't know the original record. Maybe it will draw people to the original.
Robin Pecknold surely cleans up nicely.
I recall hearing "No Other" as a teenager on an underground station in Chicago and it made me aware of how music can induce a truly spiritual state.
Wonderful, note perfect tribute to one of the greatest albums ever made. I think Gene Clark would have been pleased.
couldnt agree more!
1961Blanchflower I agree. Can’t understand why I missed it back then but it’s almost a daily listen for me decades later
this is Cosmic country rock......Gene Clark lives on......
Gotta love how Robin P. really tries to nail all the subtleties of Gene Clark's vocals. Very cool
It was a big event for me as this has been one of my favorite albums of the past 40 years. It was a perfect homage to the great man's finest album.
Great cover of no other, and the backing vocal singer with the short hair is simply stunning
One of the greatest albums ever written Gene Clarke was a mystic.. Good band just brilliant, sounds beautiful..
A great tribute to a great man. Gene was a pioneer way ahead of his times. His music will always sound relevant and 'modern'.
Salute to the Tipton troubadour. Great songs and covers.
I saw him perform this late in his career. Even better!! Operatic voice. No kidding!
He was ready!
the most meaningful show i have ever seen one that i could watch over and over again
I just discovered this and I am so pleased to see that there are so many people out there who feel the same way I do about this music. Stellar performance!
Absolutely Fabulous - One of the greatest albums ever - performed beautifully by these terrific musicians - a wonderful heartfelt tribute - and Iain Matthews got it right - Gene would have been proud
I can't get enough of this! Everyone is brilliant. Sound of Strings was perfect
its strength of strings
A fantastic project! This album needs to be out there and respected. Utter brilliance.
That little smile from the singer at around 14:05 sums up why I love performing. He gets it, he gets that when those backing singers come in and deliver their lines it lifts a great song to be a fantastic song. And he digs it.
cannot tell anyone how happy this makes me. NO OTHER has always been in my top ten. it changed my musical ear!
Gene is smiling Up There somewhere...
Absolutely fabulous performance of one of my top 5 LPs of all time. What this does show is how rich Gene's voice was because none of the leads really come anything close to his depth. However, that's a minor quibble when taken with the amazing quality of the band and the backing singers. I also love the utter awe and respect shown by the audience, too. All in all, wonderful!
Very talented group doing justice to songs of the legend.
Fantastic!! A Really Brilliant Tribute to Gene - He came to New Zealand once - Lucky I was there
Hello Gary this is Kevin O'Keeffe from USA .Gene is the best
@@kevinokeeffe8089 Cath here welcome to this great dude’s music!!!!!! Lol👍🇺🇸☮️💯
I met him towards the end. He was even better than than you can dream. Named my son after him
Listen at 38:00 to the message - "We have 19 people on this tour...and no ego whatsoever" Now that's a tribute!
They all did a terrific job. "All pulling in the right direction." Hearing Gene's songs done by musicians who love his music is a real thrill.
Beautiful tribute to a beautiful soul Gene Clarke ty dude r were the best ever! Ty for being so amazingly hot that voice is killer dude rip this an awesome live gig absolutely devine superb Gene would b proud ty bless u all 👍🇺🇸🔥❤️💯☮️💋
I’m glad to see this album getting some respect. It was widely panned upon its release. The record company hated it, and did nothing to promote it. I knew nothing about when I first played it, and I have to admit, it took a few spins before I totally fell in love with it. I still listen to it often. These guys do a great job with this concert.
Thanks for posting this. It’s cool to see others playing these wonderful songs
About how I came to this album. It did take a couple turns to get into. But then 50 years later....
More precisely David Geffen, then founder and president of Asylum Records hated it. He was expecting it to be more like his contribution to the "Byrds" reunion album. I suspect Thomas Jefferson Kaye going over budget didn't help.
I read recently that Gene never got over the heartbreak of it's non-success.
I do think the rather odd sleeve artwork did it no favors.
What I like about this is that the band is totally supportive of the songs and their singers. The only problem is that none of the singers are Gene Clark because his is a voice, like Sinatra or Elvis or Lennon, that cannot be replicated. They try hard though and that makes for a tribute they can all be proud of.
I think a few of them came close. if they wereen't completely successful I still love the way they honored thie troubled genius. I'm just sorry Gene never really got the recognition in life he deserved. I know he had his problems but his music sure didn't.
Bull's-eye ... exactly right. The songs, yes the songs, and that incomparable voice.
Wonderful
10 years ago people laughed at me when I played this music, and now thanks to plaid shirts, big beards, slicked hair, skinny jeans and PBR....Im the hero!!!
10 years ago? 30 years ago!
@@meirmoses8821 yeah i believe i bought it 1977? Have to get the album out and look. One of my favorite
I am lucky to have a 74 year pad music head friend, who I met when he was 50, as I am now... He turned me onto so much stuff way before my generation of hip folk got into in, including Gene Clark's 'No Other'.
U sure r!🇺🇸👍
@@ShaneKennedy1969 so glad dude lol 👍🇺🇸☮️
daniel rossen rocked no other!
I want to say thank you to all the artists involved. Absolutely brilliant & I'm sure Gene would have smiled.
Saw this in Philly at Union Transfer. Excellent production!
Yep. This one's growing on me
Been on a Gene Clark kick today. He was always the mysterious one, not-to-mention highly gifted.
I appreciate how this group respects the Gene Clark legacy, both in melody and mood.
Amazing.i had no idea this had happened. My favourite album of all time
It's such an absolute pleasure hearing this album performed by a FULL (and incredibly talented) band. It gives you a much better sense of how deep the songwriting on this album was and exactly what Clark pulled off in the studio to make it happen. I found this album later in my life and thank God I did. It is spiritual, inspired, vulnerable.
Well said my friend. I saw Gene several times and it was always a deep experience.
I've watched this probably a dozen times over the last few years- someone needs to include this in the list of the best concert films ever... I never saw Gene in concert, but this is just a great tribute...
I was quite surprised by this. Great performances, wow!
Really well done. Thanks for all your efforts put forth here!
such a classic...
Done with love and respect; sometimes it takes someone other than the original artist to interpret and pull out the intended angst... Gene Clark was a Master!
A great tribute to a singularly inspired album.
Music Lover genisis
Damn, this is fantastic!!!
My dearly departed sister Joyce, went to school there and inspired me to become an artist so I could carry the 60s dream on forever. This is a wonderful band so close to where I live in Va.also.God bless. He knew we would reap the whirlwind for destroying the Indians.
In Virginia? Me in Quantico cool story bro!!!! Lol 👍🇺🇸☮️
So this is Williamsburg Va. Good old William & Mary!
Thrilling show!
Just found this so better late than never. Fantastic performance and excellent sound quality.
So great. No other is in my top 5 albums of all time, but this band bring another level of energy to a fantastic collection of songs. And the singers have all summoned Gene's spirit.
Bravo, well done kids. Love this songs.
Everything about this is pure class. The mix, the camera work, the performances, everything. Cinema-worthy for sure. Congratulations to all involved. Thank you so much.
Absolutely perfection lol 👍🇺🇸🔥💯☮️
Brilliant..memories come flooding back, thank you..
When I bought this album 17 years ago, being a young university student somewhere in Belgium, none of my friends knew who Gene Clark was. They thought it was downright daft to listen to this kind of 'obscure and irrelevant 'music. How wrong they were.
Grandissima performance!
Grazie per questo tributo prezioso per un artista libero e sopraffino.
Excellent tribute to Clark's definitive musical statement.
To see this played by modern musicians really emphasises to me how awesome this album actually is. It can become familiar when you listen to it so often and this has made it feel fresh again. Geffen hated it when he heard it but Clark believed it was his masterpiece. It reminds me of how well albums were made back then, with great arrangements of real players and instruments. Must have been a huge thrill for musicians and audience alike. Greivous Angel next please!
Geffon was sooooo wrong this an amazing album Gene killed it ty dude love & missin him so much superb legendary musician!.....👍🇺🇸🔥💯☮️❤️
This is a wonderful tribute for a wonderful artist. Thanks for the posting.
I saw this at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, and they were just as good there (if not better; hard to say). Feel lucky to have had the experience, and if it were possible, I'd like to see more from these performers.
That was just incredible. A labor of love indeed.
I just learned of this record this year! And i´m really deep into music...a forgotten gem. Great performance
Robin, come back to the spotlights. I miss ya.
This is just what I needed Thank You
Outstanding, thank you.
Amazing!!!! Thanks for posting.
Love watching covers - well done!
Two thumbs up !!
this is great! thank you.
Please make this happen again for 50th anniversary of the record!
Great!
Wow, this is fantastic
So happy to have been there. Was MAGIC!
Thank you! Really nice photography / videography and the sound quality is really good
Ian Mathews vastly underrated . This music brings goose bumps and happiness . Gene Clark stands the test of time
I wish the fleet foxes guy sang the lot. He nails it
naaah, you need to learn more about Daniel and Hamilton...
@@riverlodge will do
I come back to this pretty often. So good.
Before chillout there was this album and Jerrys 'the wheel' to take the edge off the acid.
RIP LOVE BOTH YOU GUYS xx
It's amazing they got McLovin' to host!

Unbelievable what great shape Iain Matthews of Early 60's era Fairport Convention is in. Steals the show
I thought that too, and I'm only half way through the second song!
