It's not funny that people got ripped off, and I feel for the actors who were just trying their best. But the sparseness of the decor and the single jelly bean are absolutely sending me
Pathetic
I'm still laughing at The Unknown actor's commitment to the bit because no matter which video I watch, yes; they nailed capturing the likeness and movement of the sleep paralysis demon that sleeps in my wall and makes chocolate in secret.
@OfficerZ637 awwww, thats really sweet.
Oh my god have you seen the website it’s incredible
The unknown clip is pretty damn funny though. It’s the dialogue from the actor “IT’s THe UnKNOWNN!” Followed by the “noooo!” That makes me lose all composure. Same with meth lab oompa and the ai misspellings
The rest isn’t funny though
“You promised me Krabby the clown… But all I saw was… Cheapy the Cheapskate!”
Stoppp I’m cackling in public 😂💀
💀💀💀
😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀💀💀
OMG 😂😂😂😂🎉
Not the Shein Wonka
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Indeed, Walmart is luxurious in comparison.
Wal Mart is luxurious in general IMO
I hope no one is treating the actors poorly. But I must say, “meth lab Oompa Loompa” might be the funniest things I’ve seen/heard all year.
I feel so bad for her, but yes I laughed too hard
The actors was really good, they shouldn't be so bad on himself haha, he was really good!! Also, in the order Wonka movies he's actually kinda ginger so he was perfect, the actors shouldn't be blamed at all! 😄
*Edited it to include the poor girl too haha
According to someordinarygamers, they weren’t paid.
@@poisontribal9909that's even worse, they're probably college/acting students trying to catch a break. You know people are going to be shitty to them and not the executives who let this shit show happen in the first place
That photo did her so dirty, I saw the actor’s videos talking about it & she looks nothing like the pic, I actually don’t even understand how it came out looking like that 😂
I think it’s important to add there’s a very serious cost of living crisis in the uk right now so a lot of these people probably spent a significant amount of savings for their children to have a nice day out and I think that’s why the police were called and many people were so angry. And it also makes the fact these people scammed the actors (who still haven’t been paid) and the parents so much worse.
Have you seen the poster? Who would take their kid there
@@magdalenat3424 The original poster looked llke it would be beautifully decorated and a higher end production.
Wow the meth Oompa lady is actually a beautiful young lady, Cool.
She’s the one I wanted see, now the ender or the unknown needs to show himself.
@@oshifish2for real? Passadise of teats?
Honestly it makes me sad that people looked at the AI images with nonsense spelling and thought "this looks fun let's go as a family". Makes me worry about the future when this is the worst AI is going to look.
Yeah there definitely needs to be more resources for parents (and people in general) to help prevent AI scams. Itd be so easy to call these parents stupid for not catching the screaming in your face red flags…. But instead of being mean i think its best to take this as a learning experience for all of us to exercise caution when spending money because as AI tech grows, the amount of AI based scams will also rise and these parents are lucky this was a less nefarious scam….
@@Allgloss312Clearly seems like the public needs to be educated about AI.
It's worrisome too with how people easily fall for AI. In this case, there were flyers for the event with obvious spelling mistakes and gibberish. I wonder if anyone noticed those AI errors and still went to the event anyway.
@@julestielman even before the dawn of AI people just really dont pay attention. People just fork over cash without a second thought and its crazy. I bet many parents didnt even read much into the details just saw oooo wonka pretty pictures let me take my kid. Smh. Im not saying anyone deserves to get scammed, but at some point people do need to take accountability and start paying attention and thinking before they hand over money and haul their kids to a warehouse.
I hadn't even thought about this, but wow it's true. If AI that bad is capable of this, where is it heading?
In the Gene Wilder version, each time a child disappeared into the factory they boarded a new vehicle with just enough seats for the remaining contestants.
:o REALLY?! omg
The public library my mom works at hosted a Candyland event for the children a few years ago and it was not only more interactive than this- with more games and characters, about the same amount of decorations, and way more candy- but it was also FREE.
And that's not saying that the library event was high quality, I'm just blown away by charging money for something even lower quality than a free public event.
(Edit: I feel so terrible for that actress. She's right, people do need to be more kind. Imagine how you would feel if someone took an unflattering photo of you without your knowledge and it went viral, because that sounds like a nightmare to me. I hope she's doing well, all things considered)
Yeah in my experience the free community events at libraries, churches, and parks have always been fun and top notch than the ones you gotta pay for and it's honestly just a more positive vibe all around
A local church in my area did a candy land themed dance for disabled people (like myself) that looked better than this 😂
@@novatryxward9372 I guess the argument to be made is that these free events don't have the same financial incentives and are more about genuine fun and community
She has a Cameo where she does little voice memo requests as the Scottish Oompa Loompa, so she seems to be taking it in stride.
The actress who had an unflattering picture taken of her while dressed as an Oompa Loompa is actually very pretty out of her costume
It’s the fact that the organisers came up with the meth lab that got me 😭 yeah she’s beautiful but that meth lab is wild
"wanted timothee chalamet and got timothee charletan" ok that broke me 🤣 im glad noone is taking it out on the actors i hope they get paid their dues
I feel so bad for these actors and poor kids. This is such a crock and definitely shows how AI is crap.
It's sad for the parents too. If I took my kids out to do this it would cost me more then two days wages for the tickets alone. Imagine hyping up your kids to go to the chocolate factory and you get there and it's this. I would want to vomit, I would be beside myself as a parent but also trying to put a brave face cause you don't want disappoint then further.
It's not AI, it's how people used it. Also, if you see the poster, would you think that it's a good idea to bring your kids there, and pay 35£ for this?
I'm just glad no one took their frustration out on the actors. Hopefully they go on to bigger and much better gigs
i feel like it’s worth noting here that the willy wonka actor gr00med a 16 year old student at 22 and has a history of harassment and is on a certain government list because of it.
That’s so sweet of the actors to try anyways
If someone made this a comedy satire event for adults (or 13+) to attend and made the tickets like $10, this could have been a big hit 😂
I'm from the UK. This kind of thing happens on the regular. Christmas, Easter, Halloween. We can do amazing immersive experiences but it's going to cost big time. If it's the equivalent of $40 run away. It's a scam. - The actors tried so hard and as far as I'm aware did not get paid.
Do you mean scams like that happen often or that immersive events happen that aren’t a disaster
Scams like this happen every holiday and make the news. Meanwhile the UK have incredible events and festivals that go full immersive and are amazing but they cost upwards of £350/$450 a pop. @@toiletfrog
😂The scams. Every year somewhere in this country. The level of awfulness just differs.
I live here and I dont see this kind of thing happening. I mean if you go to a school function putting on a book fair you are not going to get pyrotechnics and such yet rip offs are not that common like this event.
@@oshifish2 This kind of thing happens regularly in the UK. Christmas, Easter and even Halloween markets/fairs that are a disappointment are in the news annually. Check on Google for some of the horror stories. This scam just looks particularly bad because it was so obviously aimed children.
The poor actors 🥲 they probably wanted to do way more for the kiddos but just couldn’t
it might be worth noting that the willy wonka actor is not a wholesome hero but in reality a gr00mer and s*x offender. idk.
Dashcon, Frye Festival, Tanacon, and now this. I’ve probably forgotten something
I'm sure there are other as bad and even worse festivals and cons, they just didn't get viral.
Rainfurrest
The poor cast is trying SO hard 😭 💀
This fit is giving dark priest Wednesday Addams vibes, I absolutely love it
I think they said it was £45 per ticket, so that’s almost 60 USD. Thats excessive. I’m surprised people paid that in Scotland
I’ve heard some other sources say it was £35, which is around 37.99 USD. Still way more money than I would ever dream of spending on this “experience,” though.
@@thewonderlandsystem6276 It would be 47 dollars
Why are you suprised about people here paying that? If it was the way it was advertised then it would be worth it. Ironically we had the Van Gough interactive exhibit here ( Edinburgh) last summer and I do not think it was even that much! It was lovely and educational. A must see if it comes your way! This was a scam!
$45 same price for a ticket to six flags
There's a Christmas museum in Ohio that's jam-packed with stuff and only costs around $20-30. Props, costumes, a rotating tunnel, a chimney squeeze, a Christmas slide/photo op... The fact that this cost $60 at the door is a fucking insult.
We traveled and went to an official Hello Kitty convention that was touring in California in like, must have been 2012ish? It was iirc $40+ per ticket. It was also in a super tiny warehouse space. Had nothing in it. One mascot costume. And a foldout table with overpriced merch. I couldn’t believe it. I remember emailing the event email for months trying to get a refund, and frankly I don’t even remember if I got it 💀
Bro what😭😭
That’s crazy!
Hello? 911? I’d like to report ZERO CHOCOLATE 😡 This would have devastated me as a kid!
It’s uk it’s 999, or they have a non emergency number too. If they rang the emergency number they will have got a telling off from the staff who answered
This is like the family-friendly version of Fyre Festival.
with the same quality and thought put into it
I have a two year old So I totally hate that a bunch of kids were disappointed. But hearing parts of the script has made my fucking week😂
He lives in the walls. 😊
I'm shocked that this happened somewhere other than America 😂
age of consent is 16 in uk so not illegal, also was not a teacher, was an assistant in after school drama class, it wasnt a secret relationship. yes bit old and can be criticsed a bit but illegal at least in uk no a chance.
Thank you so much for making this video! I was one of the 3 Willy Wonka actors, Michael Archibald, and I've been talking on the news about this situation quite a lot! So you can see what I've had to say but I hope to release some more things I've known from the day :)
So, there's a youth center that puts on summer day camps in my area. I went to a bunch growing up, they had all sorts of different themes (Harry Potter, Narnia, Around the World in 80 Days are some I remember going to but I know they've done Wonka too) and they currently charge just under $200 for the week. This "experience" cost $44 for a single day ticket (probably with a time limit) and this company can't even make as nice of props/sets as a bunch of college students getting some extra credit over the summer?
The parents and the actors were the real troopers here, trying so hard to hide that it's shit
I just hope the staff know they've, in a way, have brought the world a different kind of joy. A very nihilistic version of joy but dang we'll take it.
Even Banksy’s dismaland is more of an experience….
(Sorry if my english is bad)It was such a garbage fire, that the smoke traveled across the pond and got to Brazil😂 we're already making memes about it (with respect of course)
Your English was perfect! So don’t worry about it but honestly the meme idea was hilarious but I’ve seen art almost like fan art for the actors. Hopefully I’ll stumble onto some funny memes
@OfficerZ637I just reported
Feel bad for the actors. It should’ve been free or a few dollars. So sad
I'm sorry but the unknown has had me in tears for dayssss 😂😂 I feel bad for everyone getting scammed but it's all so hilarious
It's so weird seeing my own city in a ReadyToGlare video 🤣🤣🤣
So weird!
People make Glasgow 😎
Omg imagine jakey Oompa Loompas like "I burnt my finger cooking cookies in yer cooker"
Hii! Im from Brazil!!
I'm from Glasgow where this happened and it is BLOWING my mind that it's become worldwide news 😅
I work at a public high school and my art students could have done so much better with one afternoon after school and barely any budget 😂😅
“What’s that? It’s the UNKNOWN”
I was dying laughing at the actors explanation 😂
The original video of the kid getting ready to run the heck out when The Unknown shows up cemented everything to the guy who came up with this not knowing what the hell he was doing.
i hope the wonka lady gets an awesome acting job out of this bless her
The two rules of having a vacuum cleaner, you either have a vacuum cleaner or you don’t. TRUTHS
What I don’t get is, why don’t people just not make an event to scam people because you just ruin your name and have to give refunds anyway, and give people a terrible experience. 🤷🏼♀️
Right it’s a lose lose lose
You must be kidding. Nobody ever gets refunds. Ever. The actors at the event were never even paid. I promise you that the people who organized this event took every bit of cash they got and hightailed it.
I hope these actors get this exposition for good. You can see they are people who genuinely love to work with children, even in this fiasco.
Roald Dahl would be VERY unhappy about this. It sort of makes ME ready to glare.
5:18 Walmart still has some whimsy with the rollback smiley face and the greeters, This is cold, stern, and cynical so it is Willy Wonka via Aldi
First i thought it was stupid of the actors to not back out when they saw what the warehouse looked like but I understand trying to not let the kids down entirely...
Thank God I'm not the only one who gets bored halfway through my own stories!
That was hilarious 😂
Holy crap ... the rabbit hole got deeper with that one actor. This is literally a never ending hole we are going down. What??
I'm still shook that the parents first move was to call the police..... THE POLICE?
It's giving dance moms. But in all seriousness, the parents did have a right to be mad tbh. As readytoglare said, nobody wants to disappoint kids, it's so sad.
Scammers are really good at disappearing without a trace. Best to try and get them right then and there.
I think it was justified, 60 usd for THAT? Insane
@@burni988the whole thing is a dumpster fire.
Misleading advertising does count as a crime, but a lawsuit would be more better suited than calling the cops
this is one of your best looks in a while. you slayed this my girl.
The Halloween and Easter events the local churches and schools in my area were a lot more fun and interactive than what they did.
I think The Unknown is going to take a life of its own outside of Wonka Land! 😸💀
Some are going to dress as the Unknown on Halloween probably.
@@teijaflink2226
I already assumed that would happen if the mask is mass produced.
Ready to Glare with a buzzcut?!! ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS OMGGG, how do you pull every single hair style off 😭😭😭
I think if that group (Illuminati) wanted to make budget willy wonka experience they could have done a augmented reality event. I believe the actors did their best. And I feel the guy who was wonka does require some investigation. However his actions outside of character should not directly coratle to the warehouse experience.
I feel really bad for the families involved, but also the actors, who still tried their best to make the disaster at least a more positive experience for the children.
16 is legal in the UK
I feel like this would have been perfectly okay if it wasn't advertised as something so much more, overpriced, and misrepresented to both the actors and patrons
Imagine thinking your event was "good enough" and now it is being blasted internationally
I am just a cosplayer and ex theatre student that has built a few sets and I can think of tons of ideas on building easy props for this. If you promise a tunnel you better do a tunnel, do it on a party tent base and the rest fabric, paint and led if you need it to be easily movable, walkways would do so much. I have been trying to think of good ways to do candy forest and keep the candy edible but I haven’t had my eureka yet. A tree with small bags of candy for each kid would definitely be easy though. In my head I see those colored, see through bags you get jewelry in but that would’ve really work unless you have plastic bags inside those for the candy. For health and safety.
I feel SNL will make a skit based on this and it won’t be as Funny as the actual events.
and it will look even better than this
My partner saw the advert for it on Facebook and suggested it to me but I said no because I knew the area and the warehouse. I felt it was too far out to get to. Very glad that I chose to watch the new episode of Demon Slayer instead of going to that chaotic event.
If i took my kods to do this i would also be mad. Two days wages we would have to spend to get ticketa alone and i know all those parenta were hyping up the fact they were going to the chocolate factory.
If anyone is ever in Melbourne Australia, go to the yarra valley chocolate factory, you can watch them make the choclates behind a huge glass window, (free samples, dont know if still a thing as precovid) and cafe, lovely workers.
It looks like the venue was decorated with 1 entry fee. It seems like the actors were the only magical part of the warehouse.
I didn't expect one thing that Glare and I would have in common is the fact that we both got microscopes as children.
To put this on a worse perspecitive, many times folks who live on the Scottish Isles will make trips down to either Glasgow or Edinburgh ( the two biggest cities in Scotland) either for the beautiful Christmas Markets or other lovely events either for adults or something for kids to remember for a long time! Planes are expensive to travel from these outer regions so many times it takes a ferry, a bus, then a long train ride to get there! These kids do not get to see the city life except on the internet very often. I feel so so sad if anyone traveled a long distance to see this sham!
And there may never go there again.....
Its important to note that the age of consent in Scotland is 16 , yes theres a power inbalance since he was a teacher and she was a student , and that's enough to make him loose his job, but he wouldn't be classed as a sex offender
I am glad you said what I was thinking. So he isn't really creepy at all, he was just a little unprofessionally involved at one point in his life.
It's still wrong since there's a power imbalance
Yeah, and you know what? I don't agree with that. The age of consent needs to be higher in Scotland. Like 18. That right there is a gross, nasty leftover of an older, more patriarchal Europe and it needs to go. I don't care if it was legal in that country. I've BEEN 22. And when I was I had absolutely NOTHING to say to a 16 yr old boy. We were universes apart in my mind. The fact that he made her wait until her birthday to post him also disgusts me. The man was trying to cover his azz in case anyone ever wanted to go to the law about him, clearly.
@@exowarriornah he's still creepy. I'm sorry but there's a big difference there and it's really nasty.
@@victoriadiesattheend.8478 I'm a gay man and I met my partner when he was 16 and I was 24 , the age gap was large but we still got along with his family, We're still together 12 years later , and engaged to be married and have made a lovely life together. I get your perspective though. I still assert that a teacher and pupil dating is wrong of course.
It's makes Dashcon look OK comparatively...
I love that you decided to cover a topic of wonder and whimsy lmao. This story reminds me of the time I purchased a ticket to a “Pink Floyd laser show” and it was literally a trippy video, on a projector in a casino event space, with 3D glasses. Craziness. I had to buy a shirt to commemorate the experience as it was a solo journey and I had no witnesses to this lmaoooo. It’s giving dashcon with the kiddie pool, if you’re old enough to remember that, you’re cool.
When someone tells you that they wrote a script but the script is spawning characters in the walls....
Also there were two Oompa Loompas and they did an interview on GMB (the British version of GMA)
They could have easily used fake grass where the props were but were too cheap for that. Glad to hear they got refunds.
Nobody said they got refunds where did you get that from?
church carnival fairs are more lit than this 😂
It's the less dangerous and more family-friendly version of Fyre Festival. I feel like all the families and the actors, who got hired, were all ripped off.
Im glad your talking about this because when I first heard this story my first thought was "did someone speak to the actors?" I wanted to hear from them but noone is talking about that.
In what circumstance is 2 jelly beans enough for anyone? That’s just enough to get a taste of it and then want more.
I kept thinking Tanacon when I heard of this! Its 45 min from where I live and if I wish I knew how horribly iconic this was and made world news. Obvioulsy the fact this happened like Tanacon I feel they should get a full refund. I just keep thinking of that dude on the segway!
While it's still kinda creepy for an older guy like him to be dating a teenager, I do want to clarify that the age of consent in Scotland is 16. Just want people to know in case they wonder if legal action was taken.
The age of consent is generally 16. Doesnt make it not creepy or fucked up.
@@katc2040 Yeah honestly... 16 is too young. Even 18 is too young. Guy should know better.
Still gross as hell. Scotland needs to change the age of consent to 18.
“hey mr scott, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do is make our dreams come true”
“What is that ?! Its the Unknown! “ is stuck in my head for 5 days 😂
I admire the fortitude of the actors to continue working with what they have, even under such bleak circumstances. I would've defo just given up and tried to slip out an exit
Its pretty bad when the 4 yr old is bummed out more than the older kids...
This is giving immersive work force experience 😂😂
“THERE WASN’T EVEN CHOCOLATE”
Oh that is an absolute sin. They didn’t even try to do the bare freaking minimum 😤.
Willy Wonka would be disappointed, and go on a rant about why he would only ever let Oompa Loompas work for him and run such events with his name.
Its sad because you can tell the actors are trying their best but really how much better can a group of people make it when all they were given were a handful of cheap props and a warehouse that's too big.
3:45
"Oh look, it's a chocolate riverrrrr"
"that's where the guy died"
Also I feel like I would have nightmares about the Unknown if Willy Wonka told me about him as a kid, like I know he said it was AI generated, but why would you keep a story about an evil man who lives in the walls in the script lol???
I have a feeling this will go down as one of the worst events ever and will achieve an almost historical status, the infamous outing people will be bashing in memes for yours to come. Look at this way: you can all share you where a part of this! Those kids will one day be adults and share they went to this, it will be kinda "cool" at some point
WonCon - one jellybean and a jump on the bouncy castle😂
I feel so bad for those kids. Shame on whatever company put this on. I hope they at least got a refund, and we all got a good laugh out of it
in the last few years they use very lightly the word" immersive" :D
Welcome to the future of AI
Early! 💕
Anyway most depressing Chocolate Factory, But at least the actors did their best.
Bloody hell, I know some companies in Glasgow might be struggling, but this is an utter piss take. Not doing much to help Glasgow's reputation, no doubt.
I'm pretty sure The Batman was filmed in Glasgow specifically because it's a scary city, therefore perfect for Gotham.
With what they had there, they should have just chosen to throw a rave instead.
Plenty of space
Oh my gosh! Wonka factory provided by wish lol I’m convinced the folks who put this together don’t even like children 😅😂
its the UK, we are literally sh it at 'experiences' 🤣 In childhood, I lived in Cali (in the 80's) and went to a Halloween gig when I was there which was amazing! it was a warehouse but the decor and mazes and actors and entertainment was so on point....then we moved back to the UK in the early 90's and honestly, it was a complete shock to the system how rubbish things like Halloween were here.
The wonka thing is just a prime example of this. the only company who seem to pull off decent 'events' are the theme park owners Merlin who own Alton Towers (rollercoaster theme park) & Madam Tussauds (waxwork museum).
I’m pretty sure my Halloween decorations are more immersive and actual chocolate is given out! I’ve never charged a dime for it to boot
I hope the lesson companies get from this is don’t use AI to make more convincing false advertisements, and also maybe just don’t do false advertising. Customers don’t react well to false advertising(as seen here)and it’s even worse when you make them see a better product by using realistic AI art. It’s the same problem mobile game ads have.
Not defending the guy but you'll be unfortunately surprised how common that age gap is in the UK. Manner of fact I've even seen worse and somehow it's considered legal for example someone i knew won't name who was 16 and dated a 45 year old and he got her pregnant and its been a fucking nightmare. Cannot stand my own country's age of consent laws personally
Much love to the actors...u dont know ur job sucks until u know....
Mr Beast needs to come on down and give these kids a real Candy Factory lmao
