"Never underestimate the other sides desire to correct you, because it makes people feel powerful and smart.." Wow, gold nugget!!
Truuuuu we have all been guilty 🥴
Generosity. Honesty. Hard work. Perfectly perfect.
This guy is definitely a legend, master at his craft, humble, and fun to listen to.
I love this interview because I’ve been watching Chris Voss’s talks and about 85% of them are the same. I listen to the same core outline of his talk to hear the other nuggets of wisdom. I’m about 3/4 of the way through his book and I have no doubt that I’ll listen to it a number of times. It’s rare to find a speaker / author that has so much to learn from.
Never underestimate a person's desire to correct you. That was the golden nugget from this video so far! I love it...
He has a hollywood actors voice and charisma
late night fm dj voice 😂
One of the best Voss interviews I've seen!
Back in 92 when me and my crew held up a bank my negotiator had verbatim the same attitude ans slickness as Christopher did. He felt me. He was even from the same city I was from. He helped me literally to find sobriety and Christ. Alex Fernandez FBI. When I was locked up doing my 10 yr bit... He came and visited me in my 3rd year and said he would speak at my parole hearing though I didnt get released WHEN he came to the 8 yr parole hearing and after previous talks Alex really made amark on me. These are talented men boyee. Peace.
I am glad to hear that you met Jesus Christ. He's so awesome, eh? Live well!
"How am I gonna do that?" so simple ...so genius! 😊👍
I watched other chris voss interviews and i love how calm he seems. When we think of charismatic people, we think of extroverted people, and people with a loud personality. But i see chris voss as very charismatic because hes seem calm, genuine and interesting
And also interested in the other person
I keep re-listening to this and its three years old.
Timeless gems ✍🏻
Thank you. I am an ER physician. This is essential in my work. I feel empowered and somewhat less burdened by fear. It is not the work. It is people who have different priorities and need power.
Wow - what a gritty guy. Absolutely blown-away by the ideas, strategies, advice and theory. So glad there are skilful people like this in the world who are trying to make it better. Super interview Lewis - don't hesitate to get him back.
This was without question the most useable set of strategies and tools I've seen anyone share so far. It seems like a lot of people hold out with their info but Voss came with so much value! Thanks Lewis, way to find the best people and ask the right questions.
This is exactly what I wanted to say. THCP put it very well. Thank you again for a job well done, Lewis!
@@archigeist84 Me too!
Sometimes people are unconscious to a lot of their own strategies and tools. So theres that to consider as well.
Yeah. But he got sidetracked and Voss never finished his bank hostage story. How he got the guy to give up!
A very common interviewer mistake. But damn! I’ve heard bits and pieces of that story on other videos but never the resolution/conclusion. I hope it’s covered in the book. It’s taking me a while to get to it.
@@Drtomterrific might be in MasterClass
Guys, this is pure genius!! From being single for years to getting a dream girl within' 3 videos in! Dead serious. Chris Voss... honestly thanks, men. Your the best. True story.
He is like straight out of a movie. Awesome.
Voss is a big dog. I’ve listened to the book 3 times and still pick up new stuff every time, this interview had a few black swans in it as well, solid gold. I’ve gotten a raise in pay from tips in his book, everybody thought how I asked for my raise was the most intelligent thing ever and all I did was take notes from never split the difference. Powerful stuff, Lewis is a big dog too enjoy your interviews
What makes this video so great is the fact that there are specifics discussed and explained throughout the video. Numerous instances where specifics can be implemented into any viewer’s life today. Great stuff.
Never heard such a competent mouth breather
Hey everyone’s got there weakness. We turn out weaknesses into strengths
Been a Lewis Howes Podcast fan for years and can't believe Im only listening to this one now! SOOOO GOOD... I am a new Chris Voss fan...
You don't tell people you have a win-win situation. You actually create a win-win situation and present it simply, clearly, and slowly.
I love your closing questions. Chris didn't say those things in any other video I've watched so far but you drew it out of him. :)
One of the most compelling and informative 75mins I have ever seen. Amazing
Both men do a great job here. Fabulous.
Excellent! Voss is a cool guy.. been listening and learning for about a year!
Great talk 👍 love the actionable tips
Lewis, I just wanted to take a moment to say "thank you" and acknowledge YOU for your work and all the value you bring to us via your interviews and great style of engaging your guests. I've learned so much and have gotten extreme value.
Louis Sarti
So many golden nuggets in here
Lewis howes is such a good interviewer
Thank you so much!
Of all the Chris Voss podcasts and videos I have listened to, this has by far been the best. Amazing examples on how to implement what his book is about. THANK YOU!
the book is amazing....and this interview did nothing but elevate its value. Good stuff
Seriously such a great interview. I'm so impressed with him.
Love that voice!
Lewis and Chris: Thank you! This video is jam packed with golden nuggets.
I love how he says, "I'm Chris Voss" in his Master Class ad.
Hey Lewis just wanted to say about 3 weeks ago I switched from listening to music while working out to listening to entrepreneur podcasts and interviews and most of the time I switch between you and Chase because i like how you both conduct them and you especially do a great job of letting the other person talk and add a lot of value. i listened to this one tonight and its by far my favorite one that ive watched and listened to. I just ordered his book as well for myself and my sister. keep up the great work and thanks for doing an awesome job and putting out great content.
Ohhh, that's a great idea!!!
Who's chase?
6 years later you run a successful youtube. Congrats
Love your interviews - My dream is to be one of your guests talking about the power of compassionate communication for couples. I would to send you a copy of my best-selling book ARGUE LESS, LOVE MORE
I shared your podcast with my 40yr. Old daughter and felt completely confident in praising your skills as an interviewer. Chris went a step further in acknowledging u as a person which I completely agree with!!
Loved this information and both your personalities!!!!!!
LOVE Randy aka James
I think you are great, Chris. I had a situation where someone used the "seems like you are powerless" line. Having viewed this post a long time ago, I had an answer that worked a treat. "Impotent might be a better term, sir, since there is nothing I can do"
That's the late night DJ voice right there! Great stuff Lewis, only found this recently but loving your interviews dude. Keep up the great work!! 👍
That late night DJ voice is deadly!
Lewis, I love you! Thank you so much!
This is one of those podcast that I know I'll watch again later down in business and personal life
He under estimates the power of his voice. His actual voice is reassuring and you cant teach that
Very impactful! Just what I have been needing to hear!
Lewis That was a greta interview, you've been doing a great job for years and years, keep pushing you're the boss
Got that late-night DJ voice, mirror going-on. Voss is the Boss
This is so fascinating. I love negotiating even more now. 🙌🙌👌👍
I've seen this book everywhere and didn't think it was worth picking up until hearing this podcast. Just got the audiobook
CV is a smooth operator
This is gold, Lewis! Got his book, amazing interview. Heart jumping with the negotiation. You have 10 seconds...
Chris Voss is spectacular. This dude Rocks.
I bought this book awhile ago when it caught my eye at the bookstore. I've read it cover to cover and still pick it up regularly to review the sections that I've highlighted. Even though I've already read it, having watched this interview and seeing/hearing Chris Voss exemplify the lessons discussed in the book has really helped to strengthen my understanding of the concepts. This book has really changed my life personally and professionally. I encourage anyone who is on the edge about this book to buy it and pay the full retail price for it as the cost is miniscule compared the value of the content it offers.
Loved this, and I really enjoyed your interview style with a sincere approach to learning. Thank you!!
Omg!!! Your interviews has changed my game, this is blowing my mind! Excelente trabajo!
This is one of the best interviews ever.I literally almost missed lunch! And the calmness Mr Voss exudes is just phenomenal. Many thanks indeed.
I just watched this for the 3rd time today, took pages and pages of notes and ordered the book. LOVED this one - Thanks Lewis
I hope success found you.
AWESOME interview! I could listen to Chris talk all day. Thank you Lewis for providing all these amazing interviews. Love what you're doing!
36:00 I've seen this strat in action before :) Some lad tried to get answers from a professional forum and it was silent. Noone helped him. He created a wrongly formulated statement in an another thread and all the pros EGOs got hurt and he got all the answers with all the why's and how's from all the tops of the forum.
Randomly stumbled upon this and decided to listen/watch.... I'm so happy that I did - discovered two new awesome people to learn from!
I want to hear more of his negotiation stories!
We overlook the simple things because we fell in love with overcomplicating everything.
I used the line “it seems like you’re powerless here” on my cell phone carrier. I ended up getting an extra 20gb of data for the same I’m paying today. Awesome technique. I was giving up and about to end the call with them when I tried it.
just ordered the book . . great interview! thanks!
Will do . ..I'll keep watching and I'll keep an eye out for the upcoming event you talk about on greatness. . I'd definitely want to attend!
wow! Mind blowing episode! Thanks Lewis and Chris!
Is it me, or is Chris Voss, doing the best Christopher Walken impression, that I have ever seen?
I have used some of these tactics on men, because I find most men I encounter tend to highly underestimate women. Car buying, real estate investing, construction estimates, even security services, the list is endless...Instead of getting visibly flustered or mad I use their ignorance and ego in my favor to generate a better deal. I just stay very cordial, but firm in my position. I'm entering into real estate investment as a long term business plan and appreciate these nuggets of wisdom. It is entrenched with men who still undervalue women as strong negotiators. I never go into a deal without having done extensive research. It's like the joke when a man gets lost because he refuses to look at a map and ask for help, but the woman finds her way because isn't afraid to appear weak by doing both.
At first i was switching off but i was glued
76 minutes of GOLD.
Brilliant! And his three truth, "generosity, hard work and honesty". Amen to that
im sure his soothing deep voice has alot to do with his skill set.
What an amazing man! still can't get over how much he reminds me of Liam Neeson in taken! haha
OH. MY. GAD!!!! This was GOLD!!!!! Thank you, bless you, I am now a fan. LOVE this channel!!!
I read the book first, so everything Chris says just reinforces what's in the book. Great interview!
A really biggggg thank you to Lewis and Chris
one of THEEE best interviews I have ever listened to. amazing. thank you for this gem
after listening to the 50mn Google talk he did 2 years ago where he kinda sat painfully through an interview carried on by a nice but somewhat teenage girl with not much experience, or so it seemed, I have to say that this face to face is sooo much better !
you kept the dialog alive, listening but keeping the questions flowing nicely without being a bully. Great interaction despite the fact that Chris was clearly sick but stayed upbeat.
I bought it, read it, learned from it and passed it along. Get the Book!
That was awesome!!! It's a busy work morning on Tuesday and I cannot stop listening. Great stuff. I'm putting all other books on hold; I will be getting his book and reading ASAP.
Hands down one of the best books on ANY subject in business I've ever read. Chris Voss is a BEAST and his book has so, so many really practical, easy to apply take-aways. I've given this book to all of my friends and it's changed their lives.
That was really one of your best interviews Lewis. The connection that you guys have at the end when you acknowledge Chriss was really powerful more than other times. Thanks boss man.
I have watched just about every interview with Chris on the net. He is a phenomenal storehouse of knowledge with an incredible ability to translate the information. Of all those who have interviewed, Lewis is one of the very few who truly listens, poses excellent questions then let's Chris talk. So many others seemed to be so intimidated by his expertise they try to show off and compete with this world-class negotiator and just frustrate the listener. Bravo Lewis! You do such an amazing job. I love your show. Please keep doing your thing. Thank you for all the incredible knowledge you help share. You are a rock star!!
"You can't help me?"
"It sounds like your powerless, like there's nothing you can do"
When I finally give my price (highest priced yardwork service around), I follow it up in a couple ways.
"That will be $12,000. Are you comfortable paying that kind of money?"
or
"That will be $12,000. Is that in your budget?"
I once used the line "So there's nothing more you can do for me? May I speak to someone who can? Then she went to the back and got me something that she said she'd previously said wasn't possible
@@yardmasterswealtheducation8424 You can also add Anchor Biasing :)
Lewis, what an amazing interview with Chris Voss. I love his calmness and gentle manner, a real education in gentle but powerful psychology. I like him alot! The late night FM DJ voice really helps too ;-). Just off to buy his book!
This is by far my favourite episode, it even had my son (who is 11) hooked, fabulous thanks Lewis :)
I wanna see Jordan Belfort talk with this man
I find this topic really interesting. But Chris has such a soothing voice I find myself wanting to take a nap. 🤣
The hostage role play was really cool to watch though. I actually wish that Chris would've gone through the role play again saying how he would've handled it more in depth.
Am I the only person who immediately fell head over heel for Chris' voice? =P So impressed with this interview!
Youyou Ruan I am an MC by trade and I could listen to him all day. Great voice, great accent. Could be a great narrator, voice overs, etc
The voice seduces
I love Chris voss. this was a great interview!
All I can say about this is WOW!!!! I took two negotiation classes for work, but this has brought me sooo much more value, it's insane!!! I'm starting a new job on Oct 3rd as a sales exec and can't wait to start implementing these techniques! And def will b ordering the book! So thank you Criss Voss for being so generous with your experience and Lewis for this podcast!!! WOW!!!
Maja Vucinic true
Head is spinning. Too much info to absorb all at once. Phenomenal stuff. 🔥🔥🔥
I'm going to sound like I'm trying to sell the book- but man... if you liked this you'll love the book.
(See what I did there?)
Eno M, nice
Ha ha ha .....we are not ballerinas. Thanks guys. This is one of the best interviews with chris. Love it!
Thank you so much Louis for bringing such amazing and inspiring people.
Lewis* sorry
I've always enjoyed this podcast. Great platform, good questions and fantastic people on the show. My only pet peeve is when Lewis asks a question and someone doesn't answer within .03 seconds because they're thinking of an intelligent answer, Lewis send a flurry of follow up as if they aren't understanding the initial question.
This guy is great
Lewis, this interview is SERIOUSLY one of your best ones. Every time I watch a podcast of yours, I think it can't be topped, and yet, you continue to surprise me with your calibre of guests, and variety in the people you interview.
I feel so blessed to have watched this interview. M. Ross gave so much amazing value, and I'll be getting his book. As for you, my friend, your energy shines through, and your interview skills are off the chain.
Keep up the great work!
"So it seems like there's nothing I can say, seems like you're absolutely powerless here." Thanks Lewis and Chris! I'm using the flow to get a raise at my day job. I'll check back in and tell you how it goes! :-)
Shared. Greatness! I now step into greatness! Great guest! Thank you.
Wow! What I love about this interview is the combination of strategy, honesty and compassion Chris's Voss displays. Talk about creating value. That was sheer brilliance Lewis. And I love how you talk so candidly with your guest asking the questions we all want to know. Great job!
Wow! I just used the techniques discussed here and got a 35% discount from a supplier who would not budge previously. I am a new small business, so better deals are crucial for me at this stage. Thank you @Lewis Howes and @Chris Voss
