The trails where I live are mostly converted logging roads and rail lines. Some people think they're "boring" as a result, but I love it. I can take beginners out with me and be able to go most places. It also means that the trails are all pretty flat and rockless so I have much easier time with my shoes. Lately I've been having to wear hiking sneakers. I would prefer boots but my foot has a weird shape and after my last pair died I haven't found another that fits well. They all give me blisters. I could wear other boots that are a bit better for ankles, but if I have to get off the bike because I got stuck or I just want to see stuff I want that grip. Spring gear is coming out soon so maybe I'll find something.
The Forma Adventure Low fits a few Millimeter short...all my boots are EU 42, but in the Forma I needed an EU43. When I measured it, it is actually 2mm less than the standard length for an EU42. Excellent boot, but you should go up 1/2 a US size, or one EU size.
