Thank you, your videos are useful and being a great help. I didn't know that Alienware laptops can take a double-sided SSD. i'll try to use 8tb drive for the second one (a double-sided for sure). I'll provide an update when it's done. :)

I'm on my 4th X16. So far I've had 3 failures, screen & AlienFX. Replacement came with a dislocated bezel. I love this computer, but it's been nothing but problems. I never should have sold my X14.
I’m trying to swap my ssd but whenever I unscrew the screws, I don’t get the “pop” to take the panel off? How do I get that to happen? I took all screws completely out and still nothing. Screwed then all in, and repeated about 2-3 more times and still no “pop” on the panel? What am I doing wrong?
I'm trying to do a clean install with the OS recovery Image on a USB but the secure boot isn't allowing me to do a custom instal to wipe the drive. What am I doing wrong?
hi, I have a question. Can you check if BIOS lets run Windows from both SSD slots? I need to have two Windows systems - one on each SSD. I want to be able to run either one at any time and switch between them

Thank you so much. Try and get the m16 if you can, it’s quite a bit more powerful and allows you to upgrade ram unlike the x15 (and I would recommend the 4080 if you can afford it, the 4060 and 4070 are not a big step up over the 3000 series)

Hey between an ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 RTX 4080 and an Alienware X16 RTX 4080, which would you choose?
Notice the 4TB SSD only has 3.639TB available. Where did the 361GB go??? How can one use the entire 4TB storage as advertised??
It is incredible that a 2023 laptop not have pci-e gen 5 and only 32 GB RAM max. Great Dave as always! P.s. I have Sabrent case it is good.

Hi David, do you know if Alienware laptops (X16, X17) can still run without battery? I was told that it's unable to turn on the laptop if there is no battery detected.
Is there any downside on having onboard RAM? From My understanding is impossible to upgrade and if they go bad the laptop is basically garbage is this right or am wrong?
When I reboot my laptop the system ask me about the bit locker, and is not rebooting, someone has a recommendation?

Excellent how-to; however, one quick question - have you done any testing to see if there is a negative heat/noise impact as a result of the higher performing 8TB?
In all honesty these make such a small amount of heat compared to the CPU/GPU that I have noticed no change in thermal or acoustic properties
Slightly off topic but I'm considering the fully loaded M18 (shame there isn't the X18). I have the Area 51M R2 with the 10900k and 2080S. They still have the ports for the GPU amplifier while the new models don't. To my knowledge anyway.
That is correct there is no more graphics amplifier ports on the 2022 models onwards :( you can still use thunderbolt 4 but that is massively bottlenecked). Still the 4080 and 4090 are solid cards that probably won't need upgrading for quite some time
speaking of drop in price i may have gotten a gen4 ssd last black friday and maybe again this black friday. so, contrary to what you said, there is an excuse if you can hold off until then to save money, especially when you don’t need that much speed and also while still using a gen3.
Not saying there won’t be more bargains or offers but pricing is great for ram and ssd’s atm, hopefully it stays like it but there are never guarantees

Hi, was thinking of taking the plunge on one of these but from base storage to 4TB the price increases €700 with Dell! The 2TB SN850X with heatsink is still £129 after prime day. If I bought 2 of them is there anywhere I can find the Windows key to just install it after replacing the drives out of the box or would I have to install Windows on the default 512GB SSD first?
DO NOT BUY the sn850x with heatsink!! use the non heatsink version I linked, the heatsink version is for a desktop and will not fit in the laptop. The laptop comes with its own heatsinks. With regards to windows, it is tied to your motherboard so once you install the new SSD it will auto activate :)

Hello David. Good video, as always. At 6:49, why do you need to format the new second SSD? I thought all new SSDs are formatted as standard. Can you not just initialise it? Many thanks.
If you initialise it, it shows as a blank drive, the format is really just making the partition active

if this laptop is ordered with 2tb preinstalled will they occupy each ssd slot, as in 1tb each? or will there be one slot filled with a 2 tb ssd?
It should tell you in the configurator. If you choose the raid option you will get 2x 1tb drives. If you just choose the 2tb you will get a single drive 👍
Does the software used only work for WD drives or can I use it for my Samsungs too?
it only works for WD drives. If you get a Samsung drive they have their own free software. I have also done a guide with Samsung, I will dig it out. here it is on my Blade 16: czcams.com/video/3LuTu9hn1kU/video.html

Correct. I always buy the cheapest config and upgrade myself. Only the ram is soldered so make sure you get the laptop with the ram you need
Okay thank you. I was confused because on the dell website it says 2tb with raid 0 and then 2x1tb and then the other 2 tb option doesn’t say that. Great content by the way. Love the way you explain the specs

haha no, these reviews just take us a long time to make. I have just about finished testing (this takes the bulk of the time as I put countless hours of games and benchmarking software on each profile as well as power delivery etc so I can fully understand how the device performs). I will probably start filming next week. Sorry for the delay

Its sad that we can no longer upgrade the RAM, i was getting 1 for $2,099 but it has 16gb RAM and tried to upgrade it for 32gb and the price went +$400 lmao

I guess you mean m15r57? personally I would probably take the ROG G16, the 13650hx is a decent CPU, 4060 is about on par with 3070 and the quality of the G16 is higher than m15r7. If it was the Alienware m16 then I would probably take that instead
@@MashITTech yes, it is the alienware m17 r5 so I choose this one for the quality since the 3070-ti has similar characteristics but the aienware is better quality? If you have any laptop recommendations I would appreciate it. Thanks for all your videos.
@jeremymontenegrosarango7034 yo personally I'd probably recommend getting the g16 because the i7 13650hx is quite a lot more powerful than the ryzen 9 6900hx, also 3070ti and 4060 get about the same performance but the 4060 destroys the 3070ti because it has Frame Gen and more newer features from Nvidia, I'd get the g16 Any day, but if your comparing it to the new alienware m16 or x16 I'd take the alienware because it's a nicer laptop but I'd still consider rog because the prices are usually good with the g16 and it's a newer model laptop but still..., I'd stay away from older tech. I highly recommend the rog 16 to you

I think that it is a higher quality laptop than the rog and that it has the same or similar characteristics for a lower price and that it has a 480 hz panel, I will take the risk of alienware, could you tell me if I made a bad purchase? my budget was limited ;c and it was the best I found
@jeremymontenegrosarango7034 it was indeed a good decision, next time try to avoid buying older chips in it also I don't recommend rog laptops because I've owned one before and I had nothing but problems with it

Enought space for double sided.... not enough space for removable ram. Also that * is ugly as sin.

one time this terrible CZcamsr told me i had to buy software to clone a drive
that was before they supplied it for free! that guy must have been a legend!
