Hey are there any more game streams coming?
What They Don't Tell You About Thessal monsters?
It's really funny how Orcus is one of the most threatening Demons in DnD, borderline a god, and he's basically just the Grinch.
You're a mean one mr. Orcus
So that makes all the undead he summons Max. Both the grinch and Orcus dont wear pants
@@TrueRazarus go outside
I'm guessing he may literally have termites in his smile.
Orcus hated life! The whole entire concept of it!
Now, please don't ask why. No one quite knows the reason.
It could be his soul wasn't brewed just right.
It could be, perhaps, that his skull was too tight.
But I think that the most likely reason of all
May have been that his heart was two sizes too small.

Orcus: "All this damn noise, someone kill me- oh yeah."
All the noise noise noise NOISE!
He needs legendary item - Orcus' earplugs
You know what, I bet he loved being dead lmao
"Why can't people just stop.... Can we all just shut up?"
Orcus is a mood.
be careful not to get thwonked by the shut-up stick
Yeah I like what Orcus is saying. Just love being in a quiet place taking nap after nap.
What's everyone's plan for taking over the Abyss?
Demogorgon: "We don't need a plan. We're the most powerful Tanar'ri to ever exist."
Graz'zt: "I'll turn my enemies against each other, and pressure the less powerful to serve my will."
Orcus: "I'm going to use death magic to kill everyone, then take a nap."
Demogorgon doesn't need a plan 'cause he already did it.
@@rhemorigher ah not quiet

The gods: What do you mean your powerful?! That's not fair!!!1!!
Asmodeous/Orcus: Haha, giant stick goes brrrrrr
Orcus, demon lord of "SHUT UP IM TRYING TO SLEEP OVER HERE"
"SHUT UP I'M TRYING TO SLEEP OVER HERE" works well with the traveler as well
Orcus the demon lord of "Damn kids, get off my lawn, I am trying to sleep over here."
Other Demon Lords: warp your flesh and mind, doubt your whole existence, and join us in the Abyss!
Orcus: *Smack* just die, lol
You can only imagine how much noise people make when they're in agony
Can we get a what they don't tell you about the river Styx? This is by far my favorite DnD 'educational' content, and I will watch a video about any DnD topic you post but this is the first time I actually had an idea, and figure it may have enough to talk about in it's own video. Thanks for all your work Rhexx!
I find this as the best non hour dnd lore but aj has way more dnd lore be he is more long-form and he has less skyrim lore wow lore and whatever else rhex has on his CZcams channel

It would be cool to play a paladin of Anubis hunting down the worshipers of Orcus.
Also can’t wait for a hobgoblin video!
Sacred Kopesh>Holy sword
A ceremonial dagger that gets bonuses against the undead sounds useful.
ALL worshippers of the Raven Queen do exactly as you’ve just considered for an Anubis Paladin.
Can you wait for mindgoblin?
I've read this as "hotgoblin video" and wondered what the horny have to do with goblins...
"Goblin with a Coconut" is probably my favorite subject in that dscryb list lmaooo

Just throw it in the Tarrasque's maw, will ya?
@@Harrowed2TheMind I know a tarrasque can kill gods and destroy artifacts, but can it do it with stronger things? Maybe not Orcus since he’s not 100% deity but what about an artifact by Corellon or something?
Orcus is hands down my number one favorite demon lord.
Yea he's awesome! he has great lore. he looks cool and horrifying and extremely powerful... definitely one of my favorite characters in D&D more so then the other demon lords or devils.
Because he's basicly the sin of sloth with extra steps? He wants to sleep, makes everybody undead so they'll shutup, despite being born of chaos he favors stagnation which is the lack of progress, yeah, totally the sin of sloth
I'm currently making a campaign around him.
Demogorgon: Has the power to control other demons, cause one's body to rot into nothing, has one more head than the average individual
Graz'zt: Can lie and scheme to the point that it has netted him incredible power, uses servants and elaborate traps to fend off opponents/rivals
Orcus: *Naughty children get slapped with the death stick*
Demogorgon = NCR
Graz'zt = Legion
Orcus = Ulysses
~ Fallout New Vegas Gang Was Here
@@MK_ULTRA420 Whats your logic on that?
@@walker-macfitness2130 NCR is controlled by -barons- demons causing their eventual rot into nothing, and their symbol is a Two-Headed Bear.
Caesar gained incredible power by lying to people about who he really is, defeating rival factions via schemes and subterfuge, and every Legionary is a servant of Caesar.
Ulysses punishes the naughty children with nukes or his staff called Old Glory.
I know it's a stretch, but still.
I always find it interesting when Demon Lords manage to claim other types of existence and titles of Power. Demon Lord plus Deity for example. So the tale of Orcus having been a god at one point is really cool. Even doing a short stint as Primus of all things? Orcus likes to wear lots of different hats, doesn't he?
Orcus just doesn't give a shit. He'll use any means at his disposal to make the universe silent. Being a god is just a means to an end - just another way to kill everything that moves.
It was a particularly awesome set of modules in the Planescape line back in the day.
I killed a PC using Orcus in my last campaign, now I'm DMing out of the abyss and plan to make an encounter around Orcus can't wait to see the reaction of said player
I’m picturing Orcus trying to figure out where his servants are, worried that they might be prisoners and thus useless to him; then he learns they’re dead and “OH THANK THE ABYSS” “ok y’all need to work some overtime” 🤣
wait so he is a god-demon-undead being who has no limit on how many undeads (even liches) he can control, if the next thing i learn that he has a lot of dracoliches just flying around i wouldn't be surprised. He is just scaling for "late game"
He can absolutely summon up to 500 hp of dracoliches per summoning. Yeah. He's a badass. Lol
Now I'm curious about Graz'zt. How powerful is he that he can wage open war against Demogorgon and Orcus at once? Would love to see an episode on him in the future!
He's the only demon Lord who has three entire realms in his control. He's also the son of Asmodeus or possibly is Asmodeus.
@@sithis36 he's absolutely not asmodeus 👍🏼
Graz'zt has a lot of real estate property and allies on his side, given the triple realm, his status as a son of Pale Night and Verin. The analogy is this: Graz'zt was born into power, Demogorgon was manufactured for it, but Orcus seized it in his claws and will never ever let it go.
@@nevod. that's what he wants you to think
True, but remember that Demogorgon and Orcus spend more time waging war against each other than against Graz'zt ;)
Failing and still becoming a Lich is like getting second place and being rewarded with a Lamborghini.
Lore from the old editions of DnD was so awesome.
Orcus is my favorite deity and has been for almost a year. Through various sources I have learned all of the information of the story of his apotheosis, fall, and resurrection. The rest of the information was all new, however, and I am very thankful for you making this video, I have been wanting it for a long time!
You can almost make an argument that Orcus isn't really "chaoritc"
He loves and desires the peace of death. Or rather, the peace he'd get if everything but him wasn't alive. And if there isn't anything alive, there is no variable. Nothing to change. Just static neutrality, or possible lawful cycles of of the cosmos. The only reason he's like this is because when he was mortal, he was sent to the abyss, became a demon, and then a demon lord.
I always imagined that if Orcus got his wish and eradicated all life from the multiverse, he'd soon turn to destroying the very cycles of nature, try to smother the stars and silence the song of the crystal spheres. If he could, he'd grind the Great Wheel to ash, from Celestia to Baator, the Prime and all Elemental Planes. Even the Abyss, in the end, would be erased from existence, and only Orcus himself would remain in a still, dead multiverse.
Orcus, as I understand him, is entropy incarnated. He brings about the chaos of instability that inevitably ends in a world of grey and silence.
@@davidepastore5600 thats a very cool take on chaos
Not gonna lie, being unchaotic in a chaotic world is a chaotic move in my page.
But I guess some characters really aren't shackled at all by alignment of the cosmos, like Zariel.
Orcus is basically the representation of Entropy decay. the foundation part of chaos.
Whilst I see your point, Orcus literally just goes around killing people because he wants to. Not exactly what you could consider lawful or even neutral tbh. Peace is not the opposite of chaos, lawfulness is
It's interesting how a demon lord basically embodying Sloth is one of the most powerful and dangerous in the setting. Such spot is usually reserved for Pride or Wrath.
If Wrath was the strongest then Wrath wouldnt be mad anymore and then it wouldnt be Wrath anymore.
I' gonna make my own demon lord as their going to be a fusion of sins.
Pride and sloth because perfection doesnt need to improve.
Greed and gluttony are basicly twins so they can be the same.
Lust and rage because that other word.
And envy are those mortals who want to become their followers to gain powers.
So basicly 3 demon lords and their followers.
I know you're going through the current Demon Lord's but if possible can we get some details on the older ones like Pazuzu, Mistra the Wolf Spider, and Pale Night? I really wanna throw Pazuzu into my Out of the Abyss campaign but his info is really sporadic and open ended from what I can tell
Hopefully if he covers Graz'zt he'll talk a bit about Pale Night, since she's widely thought to be his mother.
Pazuzu really doesn’t have too much afaik. AtleSt from my 3.5 knowledge
Check out AJ Pickets channel - he has a vids on Pazuzu and Pale Night.
But honestly the thing to take away from those original Oberyths is that they are ancient, alien, and inscrutable. They are the remnants of a dead universe and they're here to repeat the cycle.
@@monsieurdorgat6864 I've watched his Pazuzu vid, and I do like his content for info but honestly I find it hard to take his videos to memory. I think Mr.Rhexx is just a little better at spinning a tale, no offense to AJ though.

Only way for someone to possibly get on his "good" side is give him shadowfell, hes obsessed by it from the looks of it. The secrets, the raw negative realm connection. That would get Bone daddy going
No, he would prefer to have someone cast Sleep on him.

I'd really like to hear a dramatic reading of Tenibruh's epic wand quest. Sounds like some good ol' Greek epic.
I've never played DnD and might never but I love your content and learning DnD lore. The level of dedication from the DnD community is actually really wonderful. Hope you all roll a 20
Oh thank God you made this video. Running a campaign with him as the bbeg. You saved me months of research. You're my hero
Same!
So to find his wand, Orcus brute-forced the simulation by killing a god, acquired root, and ran a full search of all drives.
Bro I just finished your lolth videos and thought "did he already cover Orcus?" And this showed in my feed, excellent work my dude, keep the good work.
Nice. Orcus is a big favorite of mine.
I mean, necromancer is my go-to class in any game I play, so of course I like Orcus.
Yes, I love the demon lord ones. Also if you could do one on Yugoloths, that would be awesome!
I met orcus in a campaign once. We were stuck in the abyss and he was a prick. But he's payed us to merc Demogorgon so idk
I am surprised he decided to make a deal rather than kill you and make you and mindless undead
@@Voldrim359 if the party was strong enough to kill the Demogorgon, Orcus wouldn’t have a chance
We ran into Orcus once. I was the one to talk with him while my party hid and he liked me since I was a warforged. I was close to being undead essentially although with metal instead of flesh in his eyes and he liked that. xD.
@@archmagemc3561 how did your party hide from orcas in his lair? Doesnt he see everything in it ?
@@bruh-hq9fc It was outside of his lair so yeah.
Remember the time Orcus acquired the Anti-Life Equation? His sigma mortal to demon lord grindset is unmatched in the outer planes!
The test to become a skull lord is to not make any noise while orcus takes a nap
That's actually how I got the gig. I kept casting silence spells for him for a year straight and I got promoted. True story
Heck yeah, Orcus! One of the enemies that fascinated me the most when I was first reading through the DM's guide.
You're deep lore dives are always chefs kiss 🤌
I have ran a adventure with the Last word that was used by cult seeking to understand it, and inscribe it into a tome, but because of the destructive nature of it an how in some traditions it slowly erases itself from the person's mind leaving them insane. The cult has to work in a asylum taking in patients, which they show the last word to, and then have them slowly inscribe it for them describing it, before the lose their mind an are let back out in to the city as a insane nearly undead creature that attempts to pass on the last word before it fades away. The city the asylum is in notices the issue with insanity, and has a group of adventures an a scholar work on figuring out what is happening, before it leads them to the cult's asylum twice, once to ask them about insanity, and second when they find all of the insane undead were from there.
Sephiroth did the same thing to Nibelheim in FF7, so unless there's payment for rounding up the crazies I'd just go to the asylum with the intention of bisecting anyone in charge and their abominations/cronies since being sneaky won't matter.
@@MK_ULTRA420 Oh so you would be the type that would end up either dead from attacking a guard, or patient without cause. Or you would be a character that would contract the last word an slowly watch as your character's intel dropped point by point, before losing all sanity an control of your character.

I’m hoping for vestige lore. Vestiges are awesome.
A bean of culture I see. The vestiges were the greatest lore of 3.5. Love the binder
Tenebrous is my favourite!
The vestiges are the dark powers, some disagree but I think it's clear especially when you read the house of lament adventure. They are pieces of different evil entities that are working together and were trapped by ancient wizards
@@theeye8276 i thought vestiges were things like Karsus, Tenebrous, Zceryll and Haures.

I Love that this being just wants stillness and quiet. And that he loathes every other being including the undead.
Orcus my favorite demon lord ! since you started going through the demon lords I just waited for this one
I love the vids on demon lords and arch devils I think they are some of the most interesting beings in D&D. Great job can't wait for next topic.
Ahh Orcus i have awaited an eternity for this
interesting, in 3.5 the lore was that Orcus had always been the demon lord of undeath, but he wanted to become a god, and he even succeded for a short time becoming Tenebrous, but he lost that divinty and was transformed back into Orcus again
You should totally do one of these covering “The Raven Queen”
The rebooted Orcus is pretty metal
Orcus sounds like that old guy who lives next to a playground and yells at people to shut up.
Ok plan when opening that portal to the plane of positive energy could be to sign a treaty with the devils that says that the players will help them defeating the demons this way, but at the same time limits their rule to the evil planes worded in a very ambigious fashion of course so asmodeus would agree. Finally open it with the devils help and than its victory i guess.
not one mention of the raven queen or Orcus second most powerful artifact: the boom box
aside from that, top-notch lore laid bare
Orcus is literally the Grinch before his character arc. Imagine a campaign where the players convince Orcus of the validity of life?
I just want to stop and say that I've been following these videos since your dragon content and it is some of the best on CZcams out there! It's one of my biggest sources of inspiration for DnD content, and I urge you to keep on trucking!
I'd really be interested in seeing a What They Don't Tell You About Graz'zt video. I'm running a campaign at the moment with him as my main bad and I really use the lore dump
So excited to have randomly stubbled onto this one while finishing up work! Thanks for the excellent surprise!!
your speaking is so dynamic & engaging. You have such a good understanding of how to interestingly tell stories
The amount of research you put into these is insane man!
i imagine that the word able to kill gods is something cool like a word that means "death", but in my homebrew it's gonna be "gay". literally if orcus points at a deity or something and says "gay" they die, funny and scary
YES! I have been waiting FOREVER for this one!
I kinda feel like positive energy is what souls made of. And divine energy is just positive energy, hence gods are beings with giant amounts of positive energy.
And i feel like negative energy is undeath energy, very similar and orcus somehow managed to achieve a state of unliving (negative energy imitation of life) similar to godhood.
Edit: It's in the etherial plane video
Could you make a video or series about dreams in d&d?

Greetings from Germany
Thank you for including kiriansalees proclamation
In my campaign Orcus was killed in a level 20 short adventure I ran as a prelude to my homebrew campaign... 200 years pass and when the players (now level 11) manage to complete their current goal (I don't want to say quest since this is something that nobody sent them on and they used a wish to make even possible) it will inadvertently destroy the last thing keeping Orcus from returning, so I wanted to show a vision of Kiriansalee proclaiming Orcus forever dead.
The players (but not necessarily their characters) will understand the implication here, that if a god could not keep Orcus dead then their level 20 predecessors certainly could not do it. And they will know that this means Orcus is back and is coming with a vengeance.
I can't wait to see a video on Sigel, the Marcy killers, and doomgurads are my favourites fecsion in DND
The greatest D&D campaign I ever played had Orcus as the main antagonist.
We played for months and had encounters with some twisted undead that utterly annoyed our party during some of our most iconic battles.
It all led to an epic confrontation against an Avatar of Orcus in the end.
Our DM did such a wonderful job.. that last battle was so epic.. and he had just purchased a shiny new Orcus figurine.. he looked amazing.
We did triumph in the end.. however, Orcus did claim a few lives with his wand.. that artifact is a thing of pure nightmares.
That was the smoothest sponsor segue I've ever heard, congrats :D
I love that you said 'he is the demon lord closest to being a god'
lolth: uh
Basically, Orkus is a lazy demon that had enough of life and want a peaceful and quiet "life"
With everything else dead...
The orcusgate is better then you think because being a demon lord of UNDEATH you need LOTS of corpses so he can pop through the portal cast some necromancy and boom massive armies
Thank you and keep up the good works MrRhexx
That was an interesting video I had no idea about skull kings, I'll definably use this for a short campaign thanks!
"Lacrymosa is the actual, practical capitol where most people *live*"
Yooo Rhexx you might wanna check that 😜
Orcus' motivation for complete extermination of all life being 'shut the fuck up' is the best part about him.
As I'm prepping Out of the Abyss these videos are invaluable
I’d love to see a “Highlander” like setting; centered around Orcus, in some kind of immortal battle to see who becomes his great champion.
Or something like that…
I imagine that Vecna would be making great efforts to uncover the power of The Last Word. He seeks to become the last and only Deity after all.
Good luck with that. A cabal of greater deities nuked it from existence.
Didn't know that the Abyss had cities with humans in them. Makes me wonder how they live there, what their daily struggles are etc. It's kind of cute.
