Yes I have. In the very beginning after it opened. I do not even remember how many times I have ridden it. I lost count. I love that roller coaster. I used to work at magic mountain. Back in the late 1980s. So I have ridden every roller coaster they had at the time countless times. And after I stopped working there. They installed in 1989 and opened viper April 7th 1990. Then I started going back, as often as I could to ride viper. Back then. It was very cheap to get into magic mountain. Not even $20 at the time.

I rode this in August 2021. Honestly, I didn’t think this ride was too bad. I was expecting it to be rather rough and terrible, but instead I found myself enjoying it. In fact, it brought back memories of riding Great American Scream Machine at Great Adventure, which I sorely miss.
I’m truly amazed at how this Arrow Mega-Looper managed to outlive Vortex, GASM, Shockwave, and even the ill-fated Drachen Fire. I’d honestly be shocked if it manages to outlive Darien Lake’s Viper as well as Fantasia Special (the Arrow Looper in South Korea that has a Triple-Corkscrew lol), although eventually at some point in the future this ride will be demolished and replaced with something brand new.

I’ve obviously never been on this ride, but I really hope they preserve it unlike the other Arrow 7-loop coasters. In my opinion, these rides should be built to last a lifetime, not a mere 20, 30 years. How could they favor some other kind of ride over a very classic, unique one like Viper?

Great coaster. Rode it when it was young. The que ran under the large 180 degree curve supported by the approx 24 inch dia columns. As the trains would run through that curve, the track would defect and the columns would flex along with it. Went back a couple of years later, and diagonal tension struts had been added, anchored to a central footing as well as large connectors between the vertical columns. Good call. No more deflection, but less chance of fatigue cracking.

Been coming to this park since 1993, two years after Viper opened. In the 1990s, it was the park's big ride and I yearned to be tall enough to ride it. When I finally was, in 1994, the wait was often more than an hour. Now you can walk on, but I still love it! I'll br gutted if they dismantle it, but a respectable renovation like they did with Colossus would be cool.

This is the last remaining Arrow mega-looper. I could see it being removed for a giga if Six Flags wanted to go in that direction. Otherwise, I hope it stays around for many years to come as the last of its kind. You can see how Arrow improved their mega-looper design over the 3 that they built. Shockwave and Great American Scream Machine had short service lives, but they seem to have really figured it out by the time they built Viper. I think it's no coincidence that Viper has lasted so much longer. It has better pacing with fewer trims, doesn't stop on the MCBR, and is smoother. After Viper, Arrow went on to build Steel Phantom in 1991, and Drachen Fire in 1992, but unfortunately both were complete failures, with Steel Phantom being modified after only 10 years, and Drachen Fire just being scrapped. If Arrow had stuck to a layout closer to that of Viper, then I think they could've perfected it even more.

Every time I rode Viper it wasn't as rough as people say it is (nowhere near as smooth as Scream, which is a similar ride with many loops and made by a company known for smooth coasters, but not a pain machine either). The second half of the ride can be rough if you're not riding it correctly (the first half you can tell it's an old coaster but it's not bad at all), but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as Revolution with the shoulder restraints (a LOT of head and ear banging no matter how you rode it).

This ride looks so fun you people in california are lucky to have this ride. I want to start a croud fund campaign to have money ready for when they close this ride so i could buy it, do some reprofilimg to the track, have the old arrow trains modified to have comfort collars, and start my own amusment park that is dedicated to the history of coasters. It wont be like all in your face educational but along with having exciting new rides it would be a place where many rare and closed coasters and rides would find a home. I would have the hard to find parts recreated and order a century of replacement parts for each coaster so they would never reach the end of their service life.

I really hope I win the lottery. It would be my dream to open a amusment park just to house rare and unique rides that otherwise would be scrapped. I would purchase this from six flags, hire vekoma to re profile and retrack the entire ride to remove the rough trasitions. Would also have the old trains modified to be completely state of the art and use comfort collars instead of the standard arrow restraits. I would also try to have many unique new coasters as well but I would focus on saving old historically important rides for future generations to enjoy. I've had my eye on that old ba schiff wild mouse sitting in a abandond park for a while but it's hard to get in contact with the guy who owns it. Plus his uncle died falling off of it so idk if he would want to part with it bit it is the last ba schiff wildmouse in existence and I would love to fix it up maybe run it at fairs use the money to grow my ride collection.
