- Season 4 | Episode 63 | Sailing home to Los Angeles
On this episode we say farewell to Cat Harbor. Its time to get back to real life so we drop the mooring line and point out to sea. Motorsailing through the rolling swells as we enjoy the beautiful cliffs of Catalina Island. Passing "Ribbon Rock" then the iconic "Eagle Rock" we made our way past the West End and soon we were under sail alone.
The sun came out and we sailed wing and wing on what little breeze we had. Smiling all the while.
We had a lovely quiet sail home with the only excitement being refueling at sea in the dark as I didn't want to risk running out of fuel near Angels Gate Lighthouse.
Just like that another amazing trip is in the books. We visited a new Island and stayed at two new anchorages I had never been to. I always want to visit new places when I sail if at all possible so I was very happy with how I trip turned out.
Lots of firsts for Camille on this trip, Her first time sleeping on a boat, her first long sailing passage, her first anchoring experiences and her first time snorkeling.
Lots more to come... Our next set of adventure videos will be of a trip Camille, Mr. Steady (Her blue heeler) and myself took to Catalina for New Years Eve.
Thanks again to all of our Patrons!!!!

A cool couple on a cool sail. Thanks for the video!
Nice, very nice. You two are having a great time. Most of the best times happen on or in the water! Keep after your bliss.
Very relaxing to watch. Thanks for sharing 😀

Enjoyed that. Glad you sailed home and kept the motor off.
Thanks for the video and all the knowledge
yes nice music , nice everything ,, cool video james
Great footage guys!
Loved the video my two favorite parts other than the obvious was the drone video of the anchorage and the video when the motor was off and all that you could here was the sounds of the ocean and the sailboat. Thank you for the video and I am looking forward to the next time.
I LOVE the quiet moments under sail, just the boat moving through the water.
What you called Ribbon Rock has always been our favorite rock structure. I always take pictures when we sail past it.
always a great pleasure to see you .M
That was a very chilled ride home .
Great video James

Sam is a wild man and I love that dude, I always miss seeing Swedish Fish on the dock. Stoked for him and his adventures!
Thanks ⛵👍
A topping lift will help your whisker pole set the jib a little better and reduce the panting in those light conditions. 🤙⛵️🍻
Yeah I need to rig up a topping lift and a down haul on it
One more subscriber one more bell presser one more like....excellent....thnx for sharing... Cheers.
Shows some rugged shores of Catalina. She has nice backside at 4:40. Nice video for where you were. Thanks.

WOW, great sail, awesome water, nice Anchorage and an extremely beautiful girl. Just can't ask for anything more.
You summed it up perfectly Ron! Its like living in a dream most of the time. Even when its hard, its great!
Spent 14 years at ceretos. Glad you're out and free.
Главное в этой лодке - любовь..
OK, I'll say it - "I need one of those tiller attachments..."
They come in very handy ;)

Hahahaha, it is a beauty
Thank you for sharing, what a beautiful day on the water! I am curious, how far up North have you gone to? San Francisco? If not, plan on it in the near future?
Thanks! We have only taken Triteia as far North as Santa Cruz Island (Near Santa Barbara) I have sailed in SF on other boats several times and did a delivery from San Diego to SF in 2015. Next Spring we will do a cruising season in Mexico then after that we are talking about sailing to Hawaii then up to Alaska, Pacific Northwest and down the coast. We are actually on a yacht delivery at this very moment talking a power yacht from Seattle to LA (in Astoria now)
@@SailorJames Wow, such a nice opportunity on a yacht delivery. Must be a nice boat! Thanks for sharing your plans (dreams)! San Francisco are one of my all time favorite cities (I'm from Portland, Maine) and I was in SF bay on my cousin's Arlberg 37 recently, amazing boat, I was right at home on it and so stable and seaworthy. I grew up on boats and I plan on sailing the world once I retire from teaching. You probably know this, my understanding is that the Arlberg 30 was designed for SF waters. I don't know the full story but Arlbergs are one of my favorite sailboats. Good thing you were patient until you found one. I look forward to watching more videos. Keep up the good work!
Beautiful couple. Raw and real . Is that beautiful girl Maori?
I've noticed you have an isolated back stay. Is that for a ham radio?
yes it was set up for an SSB but there hasn't been one on the boat since I bought it.
What app do you use on the iPad for mapping routes?
I use iNav X and Navionics.... I like to plan longer routes on Open CPN on the laptop
Well, that's a sub from me.
New guy here. very good channel. You just dont see enough American sailors on the water. I tried to pronounce the title of the boat but failed. Good luck out there.
HAHAHA, its like... TRY- TE - AH ,,, Thank for watching!
👍🇨🇦
His boat is 55 years old, i wonder how many coats of fibreglass have been put on the bottom of it lol
I've been enjoying the channel. After all the years of watching people sail to Tahiti, it's fun to watch you two sail in my local waters. Just because I'm curious, what's the significance of the 55/65 in the channel' logo?
Right? Adventure is within reach on any budget. We hope to visit as many of the anchorages on Catalina and all the Channel Islands before we head south next year. The 55 in my logo is my boats hull number and the 65 is the year it was made.
@@SailorJames Cool. Sail safe and maybe we'll see you at the Islands one of these days.
cant understand why no one has gave me a like for this episode lol xx after 1 yr xxlol
Hey brother- another great Vid 🙌🙌. One quick rule I have on short jumps- I top off all Fuel at rest (anchor, marina, slip, or mooring) before getting under way. Reason is that I sail the Gulf of Mexico- and it can be perfect conditions one moment- and then I am gunning it to get the hell away FROM or OUT OF the squall on my a$$... Topping off, and checking/bleeding the Racors for water 💦 is just apart of my process of elimination... Hope this was helpful man- see you soon out there... 🤘. Skipper T
Thank makes perfect sense and is great advice. Its easy for us to get complacent in Los Angeles because we almost NEVER have any weather to speak of. I am sure we had a plenty of fuel to get us in but wanted to be safe. thanks for the tip and reminder!
You two going to the Catalina Wine Mixer this year? lol
Not sure yet.... very possible that we will.
I wanted to do a sailing channel but my beautiful wife refuses to wear a thong. Haha Thanks for showing us Catalina Island.
the struggle is real...
@@SailorJames hahahahahah....."struggle" hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I feel you brother :) I had to comment cause that made my laugh so hard....
Is that a Johneyy ball , on the back stay??
The backstay was set up with insulators so it could act as an antenna for a SSB Radio, very common practice with people who still use SSB radios
I don't know how a couple can live close together like that, my relationships always end. Always thought love for ever after, but it's not my nature, nothing to do with other women, it's just the way it goes. Hope you guys have a long, great relationshiip.
I was about to say most people call Avalon, Catalina Harbor until you said Cat harbor that's up northwest.
Yeah Cat harbor is actually called Catalina Harbor on the charts. I think Avalon on the charts is just labeled as Avalon Harbor.
😏
And the view count shot up 1000%
more like shot up 60,000
great video beautiful scenery and a smoking hot girl
