  • Our first trip to Catalina Island Aug 13-15 2020 on our new 2021 Parker 2320 GrayLight. We left Huntington Harbor around noon and stayed 2 nights on a mooring in Two Harbors. We are waiting for our electronics, bait tank and tower. Follow along as we document the build of our dream boat and try to find some fish.

    That was nice of you to make this and offer it for all to see. The kids--and the adults, most of the time, have more fun with the Dolphins, than just about any other part of a trip. Our kids have dangled their feet and even had the beautiful animals come up and hit their feet with their backs--thrilling experience. Thank you. PS. One nuance these days. Be sure you don't breach the MPA (marine protected areas) and run afoul of the law.

    Brother, I fished blind as hell on a 21' Thresher CC for 3 years. Had a Lowrance Hook7 and in anything other than 300' or less... the transducer I had was not good enough. Slayed a lot of fish on that boat before I sold it.

    Awesome video! I wish more people would watch these instead of the silly Haulover-type videos which give a ridiculous view of boating. THIS is what true boating looks like! Thanks for sharing!

    Excellent video, I'm looking at buying a Parker 2320, one shortfall for me is the boat not being offered from the factory with twin engines, or the incorporating a mounting for a kicker motor in the design, I would personally never venture off shore without back up power. Even inshore, or on a lake if the engine gives out and it's windy, you are in big trouble if blown on to a lee shore.

    Looks like a good time with the family.
    Those moments are gold.
    I’m from the area and always dock on seal beach Anahaim bay channel and I my self have a similar boat like yours With the same family. I added a 9.9 kicker to troll but more than anything for safety even doe I have US BOAT just need that security. I had my alarm kick on near area 150, oil rigs. I got super nervous with my 12 year son. Our trip was over, luckily it was just letting me know the oil wasn’t picking from the the driver side tank. I change my oil tank , flush the oil lines and back on the waters.
    I drove back to the dock beeping 4 times every 2 min. I didn’t care if the engine would of broke. Just needed to be near shore.

      Thanks for watching. We have been towed in previous boats many times, part of the adventure. On our Boston Whaler we had to get towed with 8 passengers on bored, 4 kids under 10 years old. Not ideal but we made it back safe.
      Maybe we will see you out there, we will back at it when tax season is over.

    I would recommend never to allow anyone to ride on the front of your boat, let alone on the anchor pulpit. Looks like you have a great family, don’t let a tragedy happen. Looked like an awesome trip. I know someone that ran over their kid when she fell off the front.

      Agree. I felt some type of way when I seen the baby hanging around the rail. I know papa is watching and has everything under control but safety first 😊.

    Incredible video. Great narration. I just bought my first boat about 5 weeks ago. 2018 Sea Hunt BX20BR Yamaha 150. Amazon is shipping my antenna and as soon as I get it installed, I am ready to go. Did you get an FMM migration visa? the requirements to fish there seem to change periodically. No need to reply if this is on the down low.

      Congrats on the new boat!!!! We got the FMM migration visa as it is required. We applied and got it online. Bloody Decks has some useful links if you need help. Good luck out there, should be a great season once this weather calms down.

    What was your gas consumption and how many gallons did it take

    • @graylightfishing8743
      @graylightfishing8743  Před 3 lety

      For that trip we had no bait tank and no tower. The fuel consumption was about 2.4 MPG. Now that we added the tower and bait tank, we are getting closer to 1.8 MPG. Really depends a lot on the conditions of the water.
