Is Predator 2 underrated?
One word: YES
Poor Bill Paxton, he gets killed by a xenomorph, a predator, and a terminator.
Then he pisses his pants in true lies.
@@digitaljonny5820 didn't know that Bill can't catch a break
Lance Hendrickson (spelling) is in Alien 2, Terminator and Alien V Predator
@@danielmarshall4587 In Aliens, Bishop didn't die. He's an android
Adam he said he was IN them. Not that he was killed.
Predator 2 isn’t just underrated, it’s criminally underrated.
@EpicJasonX9000 predator 2 is the best movie of the franchise in many ways, I think the biggest reason it wasn't loved Arnold did not return.... I know for me as a kid(yes I watched these as a kid...) I was let down when Arnold was not in the movie.
@EpicJasonX9000 yea Arnie just has charisma, but by no means is a great actor but sometimes that is all a movie needs. Also I agree on Paxton except the movie wouldn't be the same without the game over man game over line.
@EpicJasonX9000 You' re right Paxton played those characters the way Cameron directed him to . There is a documentary on the making of Aliens , on CZcams , where as I remember , Paxton says he thought the Hudson character was over the top
@EpicJasonX9000 Agreed ! , and thanks for the reply
@EpicJasonX9000 I think Alien 3 ruined the series. While Predator 2 doesnt really ruin anything since its a completely new settting and characters...even if you dont like. I think Predator 2 is a strong sequel because it stands on its own. Unlike Predators that was a rehash of the first Predator with a "bigger jaws" trope on top.

Pretty bad ass when he kills a Predator, a bunch more appear and he's like, ok, who's next?
I agree and i love how they all like "you won the game lucky fuck, here take this" and we get a nice easter egg and insight into how they've visited our small little planet for game over centuries, but never interfered just left us to our stupid, pointless wars.

Michael Blount the back story behind the gun is also very badass.

Rusty tomatoes 🍅💩
Hey, at times Rotten Tomatoes (RR) can be inaccurate but helpful to judge if you want to see a particular movie on the big screen. Although they have been inaccurate of lately like The Watchmen series, The Witcher series, Star Wars the Rise of Skywalker, Godzilla (2014) and Frozen 2.
amen rotten tomatoes is rotten to the core
at least the pro score . The Audience score is usually pretty close . The crapped on Star Wars the last Joke correctly and many others . Just ignore the other score .
Yes, it's underated. It's better than the latest Predator.
Joseph Lapez it’s not the greatest movie but it’s a lot more watchable then AVP movies or Predators or the new Predator
That's not exactly saying much.
Predator 3 is my guilty pleasure
Many times better than the latters. Cheers Fam
I remember seeing the TV spot when this came out on the cinema "He's back in town with a few days to kill!" And I was like "Oh fuck, I can't wait to see this!" As i wasn't old enough to see it in the cinema, I harassed my local video shop manager every day for a year to find out when it was coming out on rental! Ah memories... lol Yes, it's woefully underrated.
Love the nod to the original at the start as the 'jungle' turns into the concrete jungle.
Fuck yes, criminally so - Every actor in the movie does a absolutely outstanding job.
Combined with the fluent 80s style classic camera motion and classic script flow it is one of the classics for me.
It has some slow moments but it's a banger of a movie. One of the best sequels out there. Usually sequels aren't as good as the first films, and yeah maybe it didn't profit as much, but it was so good. I even got the predator concrete jungle video game because concrete jungle made me think of predator 2
The scene at the end when the predator throws Danny Glover the 1700s pistol is awesome.
That's my favorite part, this movie is underrated.
Take it
That's black beards pistol
@@patricksalish no it isn't
My favorite part was the very end “Don’t worry asshole. You’ll get another chance.” I thought that was an awesome line.
Predator 2 is one of the best underrated sequels ever made
The scene where Harrigan blows open the warehouse doors with the grenade launcher after the Predators kills all the gunmen and yells “ YOU WANT ME?! HERE I AM!! “, and you can hear it through the predator’s helmet/audio was FIRE!! I was 8 when I saw this. I still remember how badass that was. That was the equivalent to Arnold’s warcry in the first Predator movie.
Bro that’s my favorite part 😁😁😁 you want me here I am 🙂🙂🥰🥰 and then how the predator shoots off his plasma cannon towards busey but still looking at Harrigan as the blast 💥 boots 🥾 him higher I’m the air and the way he’s jumping towards the ground with his spear on his hands and dreadlocks spread all out in the air man legendary scene also this was my first movie with my first Black Heroe 🙂🙂🙂🥰🥰🥰
Imagine if the Predator would've just shot Harrigan at the beginning of the movie on the rooftop with his plasma cannon when he dropped down on that perch cloaked when Harrigan was aiming his service weapon around. Movie should've ended right there.
Wow, Gary Busey really threw himself into this role. That little back story he gave at 12:55 was awesome.
"Want some candy?" Predator 2 is one of the best action movies of the 90s.
"Fucking Voodoo magic man.... ya know what I believe? Shit happens."
Hell Yeah!

100 percent agree loved it when I watched for the first time
Agreed. I think it's up there with The Matrix and Terminator 2.
Way, way underrated. I actually like Predator 2 almost as much as Predator. Most of the things we know from Predator games and stuff came from Predator 2. It's a great movie with great action and great characters... I'm glad to see it get reevaluated.
Gary Busey is Awsome! Hands down one of the most underrated actors ever.
Agree wholly with that.
Silver Bullet: Scariest werewolf film EVER!
I personally prefer Predator 2 over the other entrys in the series (yes even the first one) I think it comes down to the point that the urban setting is far more intresting than the jungle.
Agree.
The jungle gets tiring to look at.
6:57, RIP, Bill Paxton.
Bill Paxton great actor sadly missed.the only guy to be killed by an alien a predator and a terminator.

"It's from the other side! The spirit world man!"
Always liked this flick, was kinda surprised that when Robert Rodriguez said when he was producing Predators, "I want to erase Predator 2" basically and write a "true sequel" to Predator. And while I agree and feel, Predators is an absolute love letter to Predator. However, it's a pretty major league diss coming from a guy who made an amazingly fun and cheese filled vampire movie years after Predator 2. Now, he may like, love or even adore portions of Predator 2, but it really shocked me when I saw that interview. Predator 2 is absolutely a fun movie. And to me, still holds up.
Predators is a dumpster fire and nobody will convince me otherwise.
I'm sorry but the whole "bigger Jaws" twist that they ACTUALLY WENT WITH ("Super Predators") was so f%cking lame and unnecessary.
Just make them bigger Predators and leave it at that if you want big boy Yautja in the movie. It was already established thay Yautja varied greatly in size by the comics, we didn't need a stupid explanation about why these Predators are bigger than the last ones.
@Agent Washington yeah, my only beef is the the look of the "super Predators" making them simply bigger would've been enough. Thoughts on Prey?
Robert Rodriguez is overrated anyway Predator 2 is the only sequel in the series.
Can't really fault Rodriguez on that. The overwhelming consensus at the time was still that Predator 2 is where the franchise went south. Now that appreciation for Predator 2 is a lot more common, it's all too easy to look back harshly on people who shared the consensus of Predator 2 being bad.
The concrete jungle storyline is absolute genius. The outrageous
hard-R badassery was perfect, and *all* the actors freakin nailed their respective roles.
This is one of the best sequels imho. Certainly not perfect, but a good goddamn action flick that I’ve never forgotten.
You ever heard the saying "you don't miss the water until the well runs dry"?
@Suzie.q Popcorn123 true....those movies are better...but predator 2 more than holds it's own in the "good sequel" department. Definitely more than a cash grab.
I agree, Predator 2 showed that there were things happening OUTSIDE of the main characters by introducing Gary Busey and his team which I thought was a good angle. Predator 2 is the 2nd best in the series to me, Predators being 3rd and THATS IT for me. Great action movie!
Suzie.q Popcorn123 Busey is Busey 😂
J.R. Brawlers 👌
Absolutely it is, Predator 2 was awesome and the City Hunter is one of my favorite Predators ever.
Its extremely underrated. Its a perfect sequel. Its the perfect balance of bringing new things into the story and not just copying the old like 100% of sequels do today. Great acting, characters, story. Everything superb
A great fun action movie. It gave us more of everything from the first film.
More action, more fun toys, a different Predator, more diverse set pieces, a different crew of people to get to know. Fun side villains like King Willie and Peter Keys. More insight into the Predator. Some how you could feel the heat in Predator 2. It just looked like they were miserable hot. Maybe it was hidden better in Predator with the uniforms.
You get over Arnold not being in the movie after the first 5 minutes. You don't have time to think about Dutch after Glover trips the door off his cruiser. Hold on, we're going for a ride!
Harrigan is Dutch in a different way. Both tough, strong and smart. Just different.
Underrated movie, lots of fun. Never gets old.
Yeah for real.
There was originally a planned script with Dutch in it but Arnie walked, so we got the Predator 2 we know instead.
Honestly the way they were gonna put Dutch in felt shoehorned, at least as explained. Maybe on film it would've been better, but on the whole I think Predator 2 works out great by just being another story with it's own characters.
It gives us more badass humans to root for in a universe where most humans are fodder or evil.
There was so much sweat and blood in the film, you could FEEL the heat of LA.
This movie probably have the most cruel atmosphere that could only be in a movies.
California gets stupid hot during summer the 90s are probably no different from today
Facts!
Danny Glover did an amazing job! He doesn't get enough praise!
I went from laughing at the fact that the older cop from lethal weapon was the replacement for prime Arnold but I think now I enjoy it more, there's more of a struggle, hes had enough of his friends dying around him and takes charge like an absolute badass, and that final fight for sure beats the 1st, you are very correct he deserves much more praise for this role!
@@HunterMagunter that’s right asshole Shit happens!!! Bammmmm!! 😬😬😬
I rather have Danny glover than Steven Seagal who they were considering at first
@@HunterMagunter he is not that old he is only a year older than Arnold

The acting in this movie is absolutely amazing, I can't believe the cast didn't walk away with multiple awards.
Can confirm, from my twenty years using both IMDB and RT (as well as others like Metacritic) IMDB is probably the most consistent at actually grading the movie based on its merits while avoiding the pitfalls of politics and the bias that they can confer.
Good video, subbed!
" There's no stoppin' what can't be stopped. No killin' what can't be killed. You can't see the eyes of the demon, until he come callin"
The city predator was actually the hero in Predator 2, had it not been for him, the entire city would have continued further in chaos, but he got rid of the dangerous thugs, making Gotham a safer place.
This has nothing to do with the video, but I absolutely love the Gotham tv series. I’m currently in Season 3
I'd love a Batman/Predator team up. Where Predator controls his kills with Batman's help and council.
The opposite is arguably true. It didn't kill many and he various gangs in question most likely blamed one another for them, which would have increased tensions.
Still love the short movie, "Batman: Dead End"
And so he'll hunt us
Looking back at Predator 2, it's actually pretty good and underrated.
Definitely underrated. Harrigan was well-humanized character with his fear of heights balancing out his badass demeanor, a stark contrast to Arnie's almost perfect stoicism and herculean build. The effects, including the Predator's First Aid scene was some of the most unique scenes in the genre, felt like something that would be mimicked in other movies like the Fifth Element later on. And Harrigan actually KILLS the Predator, not letting it blow itself up.
I'm actually wondering why in the slew of Predator merchandise released by NECA, with all the Arnie's and Predators, why hasn't there been a Mike Harrigan figure. Imagery rights issues I suppose.
Predator 2 is honestly one of my favourite movies !!
The cast
The story
The action
The horror
Everything !!
It’s a brilliant sequel 🔥
“Well we have to capture him”
Why do people still bother with Rotten Tomatoes?
Their rating system is s clusterfuck between angry fans and incompetent pro critics.
I tend to got o IMDb for anything resembling a useful review alongside certain. CZcamsrs.
Problem is IMDB as a ratings system is too poor. They all eventually become an amalgam of 7.
The average score in RT is usually in line with mine rather than the tomatoscore provided its given by a large number of reviewers.
Dunno why people follow critics anyways. I know I’ll like a film before I walk into the theatre.
The sole exception being “A Knight’s Tale”
God damn if that isn’t the worst film of the last 25 years.
SJW’s
I ignore reviews all together because my opinions on films tend to conflict with the reviews more often than not lol. Only the reviews that is.
I've always liked predator 2. Ever since it came out. It has a different vibe about it. Even though really, the story is the same. Still holds up today.
Predator 2 is fantastic. I loved the setting when I first had seen it as a kid. The criticisms against Danny Glover seem to be tainted by the fact that he PLAYED a cop that was old in the Lethal Weapon series but he's in great shape here and really plays the part of Harrigan well.
It seems to me that people have this issue where after so many years because people didn't like a film THEN they are supposed to not like it STILL. Predator 2 and Robocop 2 even, are two of my favorite underrated sequels that deserve another watch. I like them both as much as I do the first films in their respective series. Sure, they didn't out class the first films like Terminator 2 did to it's first film but they aren't bad films either and are actually quite good.
@Suzie.q Popcorn123 Oh yes, definitely. Those two are films that can be argued to be better than the first films, though with Alien that's a hard case to make.
That Cane Cyborg was super scary in Robocop 2.
@Suzie.q Popcorn123 Yes! Exactly! They both did things differently but excelled at how they did it. I can't say I like either of the two Alien films better than the other but I have seen some debates rage in forums, lol.

This is dread mon, truly dread!
You can't see the eyes of the demon... until him come callin'.
It may very well be the perfect sequel... it holds over enough familiarity from the first film, but introduces enough new elements to not feel like a lazy rehash.
Concerning the common element across the series, the predators, i have seen many arguments over which is the best hunter (usually including scar and wolf from the avp movies), and the city hunter is always dropped at the bottom... but i feel he's the superior hunter. Jungle boy only had to track dutch's crew through an otherwise human-free environment. City hunter had to single out and follow each if harrigan's team through throngs of humanity, a much more difficult feat even with normal vision, let alone doing it with only sound and heat signatures.
Imo Scarface (the one from the Concrete Jungle videogame, not the comics) is my top hunter, but I also like the City Hunter.
He gets crapped on for nothing. But hey, at least with the new crappy movies, people might look back at Predator 2 with a fresh perspective and actually appreciate it more.
The Predator, Predators, and Prey were such godawful abominations that I'd take a hundred more Predator movies of the quality of Predator 2 before I accept a single one of those dumpster fires.
29%? WTF?
Great movie in it's own right.
I wonder how long it took before they finally told Gary Busey. he isn't actually hunting aliens.
hahahahaha lol.
Gary Busey isn't an actor, the cast and crew just film around whatever he's doing that week. Like Bowfinger.

Predator 2 is a gem, way! Better than (predators lol )
Everyone was expecting Arnie so it got unfairly slated.
@Guerilla PSYOPS Expect Predator 2 as its the greatest action/horror/scifi movies ever made.
Honestly, I feel like Predator 2 was the only sequel in the franchise to actually tap into its potential. Predator is sort of like Assassin's Creed in that you could set it anywhere, in any point in time. Yet all the sequels following Predator 2 (not counting the AvP movies) only tried and failed to recreate the first film by setting them in jungle/forest environments in the modern day or near future.
Imagine if instead they had made:
A Predator movie set in Victorian Era London.
A Predator movie set in the Roman Empire.
A Predator movie set in the Golden Age of Piracy. Predator vs pirates, anyone?
A Predator movie set in Sengoku period Japan.
A Predator movie set during the Crusades.
A Predator movie set in Prohibition-era America, with the main cast being part of the Mafia.
The basic plot of Predators, except instead of modern soldiers, the cast is composed of: a Roman centurion, a female Scythian warrior, a samurai, an Aztec eagle knight, a Spartan hoplite, an Apache warrior, an Zulu warrior, and a Crusader knight. Throw in some female Yautja in there for good measure.
Funny that you say you'd like a pred movie set in the crusades, because there's actually a fan movie set in that period and it's pretty good. You seen it?
awesome ideas... that require huge set budgets! and movies are lowest common denominator things.
@@bayeksenu7099 I have actually, and yeah I agree, it's pretty good! I'd love to see that turned into full-length, Holywood-budget movie, though. That'd be pretty sweet! ^w^
Predators are preferred to be treated as ancient honorable hunters/warriors rather than a sci-fi lab experiment with futuristic tech (too futuristic to be exact)
check out Predator Dark Age on CZcams. it's good.
12:10 - the remastered 4k disc is another good reason to revisit it as you can now see even more details on the Predator himself and his suit/ face still hold up!!
Love that movie. I been binge watching your videos great job .
I don't think you need Rotten Tomatoes to judge the quality of a movie.
They've introduced me to some great films in the past, but I've basically ignored them for the past few years, ever since woke PC culture ruined creativity. I pay more attention to fan reviews now because they're (in theory) not being paid for their opinion, and no corporate overlords telling them they have to give it glowing reviews or else they're fired.
Predator 2 is objectively a great movie, I'm in a minority when I say it's easily up there with its predecessor, it had a ton of original ideas. It introduced the Hish- Qu-Tens lore of being an honorable prestige race of warriors, and not just you cliche stabby eat em up jump scaring monster. The scene where the predator reframes from killing the little boy, the young lady who was pregnant, the scene where the predator is playing mind games with Danny Glover's partner, and let's not forget that badass scene where the predators appear after Glover just took out there, Conrad. They don't compromise there morals and principals they take there fallen soldier and they go on there merry way, not before the elder predator shows his admiration for Danny Glover by giving him a gun from his past. That whole scene is easily imo the best scene that comes from the predator franchise, yeah I said it... Sue me.😆
Nobody you should care about will come at you. You spoke truth.
@@SequentiallyCompact Thanks brother
Danny killed the City Hunter with his own weapon! No one is giving him credit for that! I liked the fact that Glover was closer to being an average guy and still prevailed against the odds.

Hell yeah: second ALL of that! The reveal at the end felt like a huge setup for a part 3! It tied into the lore of predators! A bit of that lore came back, I felt, with the first AVP...
I thought Stephen Hopkins directed "Nightmare on Elm Street" part THREE (not 5)... Glad you cleared THAT up for me! lol...
First saw this YEARS ago. Loved then and love it now.
I actually just watched Predator 2 for the first time. I keep hearing last time that it was a bad movie. But I decided to give it a try and watched it with my brother and it turned out it was actually quite good and even elevate the story more than the first movie. I didn't understand why the ratings were low for this film. This film is easily one of the best sequel for this franchise 👍
So cool at the end the elder predator gives Danny Glover the gun from 1715
From what I've seen, most of the criticsims consist of "Not having Arnold back" and not liking the city setting. I've even heard some say the film didn't age well, and that the action was horrible in comparison to the first film, which I find baffling.
Just want to note that the Xenomorph skull, and likely the other skulls, seen at 8:45 were made by Adam Jones who would go on to play guitar for the band TooL.
:D
Yeah! And he also did the special effects in Tremors as well.
I always thought the cool thing about Predator 2 even when I watched it as a kid was the fact that we learn there is more than one predator, that they actually are an entire race of hunters that collects trophies of their hunts from different species even from different time periods which was referenced with the old pistol that Danny Glover's character receives. The fact that there is predator lore in the second film really makes this film underrated imo
Great Video !!
I felt like Predator 2 was more over the top than 1, especially the scene where Danny Glover pops the boot of his police car to reveal an absolute arsenal of weapons. But I feel both movies deliver what they promise. Action.
He has a Winchester arsenal.
@@freezetasticvoyage19 Winchester, now that's a pretty cool movie, too.
I think the movie was not as good as the first, because, it didn't have a realistic feel to it. It went from horror to fun. The characters were not as believable. The first movie absorbed you and afterwards you fantasized about either been a soldier or a predator. The second movie did not inspire these feeling to any great extent.
It’s funny that back then having a trunk full of handguns and a shotgun was over the top but in reality they kinda predicted that when cops have full body armor and machine guns in their trunks nowadays.
@@davidbros849 That`s precisely what`s so brilliant about Predator 2 it`s almost an ultra violent parody of the first one, but setted in an ultra violent dystopian "future" it`s not mean to be "realistic" or "absorbing" as the first one, considering in the first one there`s an alien hunting soldiers in a jungle, yeh so realistic, it`s science fiction for ya. Predator 2`s L.A. looks like the first two RoboCop movies Detroit, a totally messed up city, and there was nothing good about their citizens, to mix that with the hunting alien was just a brilliant experiment.
I really like Predator 2. Especially that as a sequel they had moved the location to a city instead repeating the first movie.
Not just any city but Los Angelous in 80s/90s and it really shows. It's clearly a period piece which is why we need a TRUE Predator 3. I personally think it should be set in the in a mid-western small town where an FBI investigation group led by Mike Harrington's son or daughter head into the local foot-hills to look into the rise of White Supremacist compounds. It slowly turns deadly as compounds begin to get raided violently at night with little to no evidence on what caused it. Then they happen to run into a group of local ghost hunters looking into a local Wendigo legend which turns out to be a really old Predator who works with Natives to protect the foothills from these compounds. But what evidence they do find show the thing killing the Supremacists are hunting in packs. There are 3 new young Predators vs 1 REALLY old and bigger Predator which shows up during a chase scene to prove the legend of the Wendigo. It ends with the old predator killing the 3 new ones before being betrayed by the commander of the 3 on a ship with a council. Then the predators take all 4 bodies and leave but as they leave there's a map showing more beacons with an audio leading up to THE PREDATOR(2018) beginning.

Rotten tomatoes are clueless. Predator 2 is a pretty solid movie.
It's not really Rotten Tomatoes' fault that only 29% of critics gave it a good review. It's an aggregate consensus service, Rotten Tomatoes doesn't offer opinions of its own.
I love how they have amazing ideas for the predators, but the way they execute it in movies is poor after Predator 2.
Love your videos and the eerie music you add. One of the things that has always bothered me about the predator is the train scene. You can clearly see Bill Paxton's character is shooting at the predator, yet it has no impact. I understand that the predator is camouflaged, but in the original, Mac shot the predator when it was camouflaged and it bled after getting shot once.
Predator 2 was awesome!!!! Mike Harrigan was no Dutch Schaeffer but he was awesome in his own right!!!! Screw Rotten Tomatoes
For all the fans of Predator 2 out there: the Ultra HD version is GORGEOUS!
I especially like the way HDR has been applied to the film to enhance some sequences ( the subway attack, the meat freezer lighting, the glowing walls of the Predator ship at the end).
Yes sir, I agree with all of your opinions about this movie. I bought the original dvd back in 2004, special edition. It doesn't get the praise it deserves. Can't believe that it's 30 years old in 2020. Thank you for your channel.

Would've been a cool line if on the subway, Bill Paxton said, "stay frosty." Could have been a novel way to tease the xenomorph skull on the predator vessel at the end.

@@adamgallyot9063 Damn straight it is. It killed the franchise. I was looking forward to it more than anyone. I wanted it to succeed. But it lit a spark in me, to make a Predator movie one day.
@@lonewolfgamingplus379 exactly, when I heard Fox is making a new Predator movie with *Shane Black* , who played Hawkins in the first movie directing it, I was so hyped. But, my hype was just a waste of time. I thought Shane Black could've made another great Predator movie for the world, but it's just some random trash again.
6:02 did i just saw a glitch of editing where Ripley and her Cat say hi to me?
also Bikini Ripley for president
HA
11:11 I see what you flashed there slick 😆
Even at four years old when I first off saw this film I was just blown away by the excellent mix of great action and a nicely woven drama. Danny Glover is such an amazing actor. Def th right choice for this one...
Predator 2 is one of the best sequels ever made. It didn't crap on the original, it expanded the lore quite a bit, the actors were great.
" the urban area has civil breakdown"
Somehow that hits home in modernity.
Most definitely underated and underappreciated. I loved this movie when it came out. The idea of a predator in an urban jungle was and still is very appealing to me. Loved the cast, especially Bill Paxton, rest in peace. A worthy sequal and way better than any of the other movies that followed it, hands down.👍
I'm still baffled that Prometheus & Alien: Covenant are scored higher than Alien 3 & Predators.
Really? That sucks ma'an..proof this world is toast. Buur
They're definitely better. Alien 3 was the worst in the franchise. Predators was just alright.
Rudy Salas alien3 is garbage, even Fincher says so
@@bruh_hahaha I understand Fincher disowned Alien 3. However, I think his backstage experience on the film clouded the judgment of what good work he achieved within it.
Alien 3 is deeply floored but far from crap. Every sequel after it is far worse. It tied up the trilogy nicely and should've ended there.
The thing is I always loved both Predator 1 and 2. I never new people didn't like predator 2 until recently. I honestly think predator 2 shaped and defined the franchise to what we know it, just look at how much of the imagery shows up in a lot of predator media, it's some really iconic stuff up there with the first movie in my opinion.
I saw this film on release and one of my Jamaican friends told me that they don't practice voodoo on his island - that would be Haiti. In Jamaica it's called Obeya.
Nice Ripley meme here at 6:04
11:25, I liked this Predator as Stan Winston said its the member of the same species but as a Snake is a Snake as a snake, different snakes are different, their subtle facial structures, coloring, body structure.
I love this film, so underrated. People forget what it gave us and how much it expended the Yautja culture and universe. It’s the best sequel and second only to the original movie.
Top analysis!
I remember the first time I saw this, I was 10-11yrs old, 1993-1994 it was on weekend daytime cable, WPIX Channel 11. It wasn't exactly Predator but, I remember liking it, even though it was censored and had ads. I watched it off Cinemax or VHS later and liked it more. I always thought it got more hate than it deserved.
This movie is definitely underappreciated.
I'd easily rate it a 7 out of 10.
I'm shocked to see that a higher percentage of collected reviews rank The Predator over Predator 2.
The Predator is the absolute worst in the franchise.
I prefer AVP than The Predator. Don't hate me if I said I prefer AVPR than The Predator too
@@adamgallyot9063 i absolutely agree.
AVP and AVPR are much better than people give them credit for.
I'd happily rewatch them before ever sitting through The Predator again.
@@orinanime "before ever sitting through", have you not seen it yet?
@@sheadupree252 should read "again". Thanks. I'll edit it
@@orinanime AVP is great. I love it. AVPR? You say you saw it? How? is there a special edition that has lighting lol?
Loved it the first time I saw it when I was about 10 years old. Still love it today. This movie is less about the characters and all about the monster. Cinematically, much of the lore of the predator universe we often take for granted was established in this movie. The idea that they exist as members of a tribe or clan. The idea that they not only hunt humans but in fact travel the stars in search of all manner of worthy prey, including even the xenomorph. The idea that theyve been doing this for a looooong time. The iconic weapons: the spear, the disc, the net gun, etc. Also, the city hunter is easily the second best executed predator we’ve seen on the screen, no one has ever pulled it off as well as Kevin Peter Hall. It’s a great movie and any predator fan should at least appreciate it for these contributions.
I loved it! I own it and I've seen it numerous times. The antique flintlock gun at the end would have made for a great new story!
Gary Busey DIDNT BLINK ONCE during that entire AMAZING speech
Yes. Predator 2 is awesome! Danny Glover does a hell of a badass cop...and Bill Paxton
I saw that in the theater when it came out. I actually liked it. Sure, sometimes there were some cheesy elements but it held its ground. Besides that,RIP Bill Paxton ( that dude is pretty badass/ cool 😎). Thanks again for your show
Randall Petroelje same. My dad took me and my sister.
Guess he didn’t see the first one 😆
“It is game over man! Game over!”
One of the best if not the best predator. The taboo reason why he wasn't liked by fans was that the fan wasn't used to seeing a non-white character being the hero of a movie. Especially a black actor for an action movie. When you look at action movie characters in the 80s and 90s, there weren't many of them because hollywood knew that society was not able to see itself through a black hero. Danny Glover was one of the few to make this kind of film, where as usually he was a side kick in action films. Other than him, we can count Westley Snip, and Micheal Jay White towards the end of the 90s in the B movies.
Truly love this movie, loved it ever since I was a kid. Danny Glover is perfect and I like the fact that he feels more like a distinct underdog against the Predator. As much as I love the original, I've always enjoyed the vibe of Predator 2, because the heroes feel fragile and vulnerable. The core of the movie is them against the creature, without one-liners (no matter how great) to pull focus. Can't take anything away from the majesty of the original, but this is a woefully underrated sequel
Predator 2 is fantastic, loved it as kid as much as the first. I think it unfairly gets lumped into the "poor" sequel thing. Never knew anyone who hated it as a kid and was something I only started hearing in the past couple of years by people who seem to hate every sequel and never provide a reason why
