Predator 1 is the original but it's not as gory as predator 2. So they are both needed to tell the predators story
To my understanding a movie can get a X rating for violence if it is extreme enough. Cobra (1986) was supposed to but was edited heavily. That’s why their is continuation issues, but still turned out good. Raw scenes of butchering was the reason.

Studios execs thought the Alien skull wouldn't fit in the movie? I was in the theater for Predator 2. The audience lost their minds. They cheered when they saw it.
Yeah the way I see it. Is sometimes we get films based on a few board members that decide what "they like" when it might not be what the majority of the fans want to see.

I'm a 94 baby so I Remeber seeing these in Toronto on SciFi movie channel. Would have been badass to witness in theatres, but 94 Is the year for me. They say the red xenos are extinct. I think not 😉
It's amazing how this movie was so limited by censorship and still managed to be great, while modern movies have so much gore, and still manage to be bad.
The gore becomes the story. No need for character development, or plot lines.
This was supposed to be 2 hours and 5 minutes. The censorship was brutal and cut almost 40 minutes

so much rich lore and content in comics and games that is wasted when hollywood makes a predator movie. more often than not they cut the parts that would have made it good.
Yeah it's kinda weird when the studio gets in the way and says "we don't like that.. don't do this.. just do what we want".. Like.. just let the writer, producer, art team and director do what they need to do. Creative freedom is how a movie can get better.

if you watch the whole saga of predator movies.. the honour code is absolutely well represented. in the first movie, jungle hunter kills every member of the human military group , from the weakest to the strongest member, and kill the ones that use fire weapons as a primary weapon, without honor ( in cold blood and plus camouflage). at the same time, yautjas doesnt kill children , old people, or woman..in the first movie jungle hunter never attacks the girl, in the second he doesnt kill leona ( she was pregnant), and in "the predator", fugitive and the female biologyst had an encounter..she was naked and unarmed, and the beast literally ignored. also, city hunter, in predator 2, kills an entire squad of gangsters that practice dark magic ( vodoo), and aberrations with females.
Actually that's incorrect. Yautjas absolutely do kill armed women. Go back and watch Predator 2, the slaughter in the subway train. Remeber that old lady with a gun? When the predator is shown killing the armed passengers in his vision, there is a close up of the old lady's face with the predators hands grabbing her. Also in the comics and the novel. Predators are shown killing women that are armed.
In the Batman vs Predator comic series 1 the predator that Bruce Wayne fights kills a female detective working with Commissioner Gordon.

There was a graphic novel short titled "Predator: 1718" showing the back story on how the clan leader came into possession of the flintlock pistol. It's well worth checking out.

There is so much great movie potential in the Predator and Alien lore, such a shame that studio interference or even the creator decided to screw it up. Glad we at least have some comic books and games that delve in to the possibilities.

I like the story as it is, having a partnership with Dutch and Mike would've probably lead to one of them dying, which wouldve been disappointing.
I mainly wanted to see the intended gore put back in, not for gore sake, but so scenes like Keys' death can make sense lol

In the shooting script there is a scene at the station with Leona and Jerry I would really like to see. If they actually shot it.. but I do think so.
In an older script there was also a scene with the predator going into a taxidermist admiring all the big animals and the owner gets confused what's going on in his shop. I'd love to see a scene like this in one of the future movies. Maybe at a zoo or something.

I don't find Busey's explanation about the mission in the first movie convincing. If you watch the whole interview he's basically just making stuff up on the fly. Maybe that was his own head cannon when getting into character, but that's the limit of it, I think.
When Dillon says he doesn't know why the green berets were there he was flat-out lying. He specifically says to Dutch later on that Hopper was there on his orders to get the CIA agents out, once he's confronted and drops the whole act. Keyes and the predator had nothing to do with it at all.
Literally paused the video and went scouring through the comments to see if anyone else picked up on that error. I was really confused why he didn't mention how it directly and explicitly contradicted the first movie's plot. Glad to know I wasn't alone in catching that.
I've always been curious if the predators would treat an injured or orphaned human the way wildlife rescue organizations would. Are there places were 'non-releasable' humans are held? Would some predators be dedicated to this over hunting? Would they raise an orohaned human like we'd raise orphaned wildlife?
Thats interesting concept something that needs to be looked at. But my feeling they would leave the sick humans to die and the injured ones probably would left to die or mercy killed by the predator. One feeling is they may take orphans and raise them like bulls or pit bulls. They would train them to fight and host gladiator games make them go against other humans then one of the humans won enough fights they would have them go against a predator. If the human killed the predator by chance he would live another day they treat and tend his wounds because everytime a human killed predator it only made him more desireable for a predator to kill. But if he died his head was collected as a trophy for hunter whether used the gladiator games a proving ground for new hunters before their dispatched into the universe to find bigger prey or just for sport of the predator species as entertainment. They treat humans as nothing more than a animal. They feed you, train you, and heal you only for a hunter to have your head as a trophy someday.

I still cant get over the fact that yesterday (in 2024) and i'm almost 47 years old and seen Predator hundreds upon hundreds of times and i just now learned Blains death scene was so much more than what i thought. The skunk exploding, the spear, the stun etc...i always thought Blaine was just stunned by the Predator first before the full plasma going through his back

It would have been nice to see Arnold Schwarzenegger in this movie. As good as T2 was and my favorite of the Terminator franchise, Arnold would probably have had top billing or the end credits saying and Arnold Schwarzenegger as Dutch. Seeing the Alien head would eventually lead up to those movies of Alien vs Predator, so it was a nice subtle hint of what was to come in the distant future.
So Arnold was going to play Keyes’ role more or less but still be Dutch. Also, I’m calling BS that the studio ever PLANNED for an NC-17 movie. That’s box office suicide and I guarantee it never happened. I hope that we get a directors cut of P2 someday. A seriously underrated film.

The pistol in predator 2 could have been returned to Harrigan maybe his ancestor was on the pirate ship the one from Guinea Coast, Africa. Out of respect he could have returned it due to him fighting along side Adolini but ultimately killed.

I've a friend who believes the second movie was made as a money maker. Totally weird and loses the beauty in expericnes by jumping to such conclusions. His reason is the comics came out after. Knows absolutely nothing about these movies, comics, lore, but seems to not be able to resist the urge to throw his opinion in. I have managed to collect xenos, predators, and sell on Ebay and keep what I love. Amazing experience and reward after many positive changes. So thank you for this I learned a lot. The actor in the second movie has visited my family roti shop in Toronto for a chicken roti. I love the second movie and the courageous young blood haha.

I honestly feel as though the powers that be out there in the film world and more importantly the series world don't understand how loved Predator and everything that comes with it truly is !!. Can you imagine how F'ing amazing a properly well done Predators series would be. Based on there planet Yautja Prime or other planets that we don't know about and following them as they hunt not just on Earth but also on other worlds, and creating new Yautja's and Bad Bloods and other kinds of aliens from other planets that they hunt. Back it up with a proper back story showing them living on their home planet with all the different characters were all familiar with , Wolf ,Beserker the jungle predator etc. Key is that it has to be done as realisticly as possible not all CGI or crap acting story lines like in the last Predators film ' The Predator' directed by Shane Black which was an absolute let down. A full blown series done by a true Predator fan would be awesome and i genuinely believe it would be a huge smash also. !! Definetley needs to be looked into and someone needs to get the ball rolling on this !!

My idea for a Predator5 movie is as follows: It follows a group of Yatujas that travels through time on earth.
Two separate spaceships with competing Yatujas for some kind of grand price,arrive in the stoneage,and when they have killed their victims they travels further through time.
In the roman time they fights an germanic tribe.
Then they travel to South America and fights a Peruian tribe.Then they travel to present time and there they gets harder resistance.
And all of them gets killed exept one who goes into hiding in a secret base in the antartic. And that sets up the events for a sequel.

My guess is he would have not been the main one but in a supportive role.
I feel like the character of Mike Harrigan doesn't get much respect in the franchise. After the movie, he appears in one short story (DRUG WAR) and is mentionned in a novel (STALKING SHADOWS). I honestly believe he could be on a vendetta against the Yautja like Dutch is. Leona also survived an encounter with the Predator. She could have come back as well. I get the Dutch mystique, connected to the Arnold mystique and that has even been extended by creating Dutch's brother from the NYPD, but Harrigan and Dutch on the same team, hunting Yautja, could have had some potential
Dutch isn't the only person to go through this before, Preds have been hunting humans for centuries.

So 10 minutes later and I still haven't seen the deleted scenes.
I would have liked Keys to have been cut in half just make it a clean no entrails and it would have been fine. I also liked that Keys was the one to send in Harper's team, but it also clashes with Dillon making the order. Because Dillion admits at the end of the camp fight he sent in Harper's team to get Dillon's men back. Only once Harper's team failed to report in did they send in Dutch's team. Fun stuff either way.

Spoiler alert but you are led to believe her offspring fights them in the Predators movie from 2010 with Adrian Brody. I particularly liked this one and liked how it ended and was hoping for a direct sequel
