Stark Varg trail riding. What its like to ride it SLOW?

- Testing the Stark Varg out on some local trails I have not ridden in 20+ years. It was raining all day and super wet and slippery but still wanted to get a little trail time on the bike and see how it feels in slippery conditions, mud, and back in the woods! It definitely could have used a headlight this time. The trails were DARK! We could barely see anything. Overall the bike is amazing in the woods. I had a lot of fun!
I hope you enjoy this and please consider subscribing to the channel.

Damn, still had 62% battery after riding for that long??
I was worried there were some trails that would eat the battery up but this put those worries to rest!
Thank you for sharing!!
Yeah not bad at all! Especially considering half that riding was ripping around the turn track in 80hp mode!
Great to see your updates about the Varg. Thank you.. keep posting!
Thank you!
Everyone wants to see range, it's been covered now on a few videos, would be cool to see some really good "fair" drag races, with equal riders or switch up riders against a 450F on dirt. I have a feeling it's going to be like the tesla model S drag racing sports cars, probably Pull the 450 in 80hp mode easily if you can keep the front down.
I drag raced my friend on his 300sx a few times and it was not even remotely close. Nothing can touch the Varg. Not only the 80hp, the no shifting, more traction, etc. Its insane!
@@913outdoors You should see if anything can even beat it in 60 hp mode
@@behanstunts1815 Its faster in 60hp mode than anything i've ridden for sure. I would not doubt it would beat any 450 in 60hp mode. Even factory 450s.
@@913outdoorssame constatation so powerfull this bike
It's fascinating to see how electric bikes compare to traditional ones on the trails.
I rode his 300 that same day and it felt ancient! Lol. So crazy a 300 2 stroke is a fast bike but feels really slow after riding the Varg.
Any chance you can post a vid of the Varg on slow technical trails?
This was the first chance I had to take it out in the woods. Nothing really technical here though. Hoping to get to some other trails soon!
Yes please - on wet, slimy rocks and roots. I'd like to know how the elect motor w/ no clutch deals with a low-traction situation !
@@gary6449 its MUCH smoother and easier to control than gas+clutch.
Dude this is epic!
Thanks! Such a fun bike to ride.
Brooooo 😮 still %62 !!!!
How many hp do you used ?
And how many miles?
Engine brakes?!!!!
Using 85% engine braking. Mostly 45hp in the woods but played at 80 for a bit too. My bike is pretty efficient! IDK 🤣
Thanks for the ride along. I'd like to know what you weigh with and without gear and what spring rate you ordered with your bike. I plan on multi-tasking a Varg, home track, and single-track trails. Thanks again.
I'm 6'6" 210# and about 230# with gear. Mine is the 209-220# setup and it actually arrived with the sag set exactly! That was a first for me! I did play around with suspension settings a bit but returned to the stock clicker settings. They really worked hard on these settings. They feel great in the trails and perfect on MX tracks as well. I started with the 18" rear and swapped to the 19" as i'm riding it mostly MX. The 19" definitely handles better. For my home track I absolutely love this! Its so crazy quiet. No neighbors have any idea why there is dust coming through the woods. lol.
@913outdoors Thanks for your reply, I'm 6'4" sameish weight. I will be very curious how you end up settling on all your mods, ergonomics etc. New subscriber.
@@JSprocketti Thanks for subscribing! I did find the Renthal 839 bend has enough control space and is a little taller and less sweep so they work great for us taller guys. Other than that i've just swapped to the 19" wheel, added handguards, softer grips and that's it so far! Loving the bike.
building a E YZ right now
That sounds awesome!! What motor/powertrain are you using?
Where did you buy?the result is fantastic..thank you for share

Hi! I see you specced your Varg with a Foot Brake. Do you feel riding it in the woods the re-gen works to a level you dont need to touch it? I am about to order one but I'm torn between the Foot Brake or the Left Hand Brake... Feel like woods flow would be better with a Left Hand Brake?
If its your only bike the left brake would be really cool but you can set enough regen you don't end up using the rear brake much. I am used to a foot brake already from 35 years of riding so wanted to keep the same feel as my gas bikes and not cause myself confusion but I can see the advantage of a hand brake for sure!
Any idea what the ptactical range is.
Maybe I missed it, last thing I saw was 3 bours of run time on single track
This one was 1.5 hours using 38%. 3-4 hours should be no problem at this kind of pace. A lot of this ride was messing around in the field track on 80hp mode too so take that into account. I was not conserving at all. At race pace, a 2 hour race will probably need a little conserving, higher regen setting and lower power mode. But still will be plenty of power for sure.
Sorry to be the one to break the 913 subscribers 😂
No worries I grabbed a screenshot 🤣. Thank you for subscribing!
How many miles did you ride with that 38%?
It was about 16 miles but mostly tight woods stuff.
@@913outdoors So good for about 40 miles of that type of terrain?
@@blbills 40 miles should not be a problem.
Been our $13k for a month and still no bike….maybe one day I’ll get mine.
You are not alone! Many others reporting the same. It will be worth the wait.
Do you think the 60 will be enough for most people?
YES!! 10000%. The 60HP setting on the Varg is faster than any 450 i've ridden. If you want to ride sand dunes maybe the 80hp would be useful but its almost impossible to get past half throttle without looping out when there is any sort of traction. Its a monster! I'm planning to get a 2nd Varg and it will be the 60hp version for sure.
Have you tried to loft the front from a very slow roll, like to get over a log or rock ledge? With no clutch I'm curious as to how that would work. Is it possible to pivot turn it?
Yes and yes! With a sharp throttle hit its like popping the clutch. Much easier than a gas bike for sure. I thought the clutch would be a concern but since it can't stall, its a non-issue. You can modulate a lot smoother with electric.
I can't imagine riding technical singletrack with no clutch, especially with the power on tap from the Varg. I use my clutch a ton for modulating power, not just to prevent stalling. Thoughts? @@913outdoors
@@MrQueLastima i thought the same but you don't have a normal gas power curve either. Power is always on tap at any speed. Just twist the throttle fast and its like a clutch pop. I'm a mega clutch abuser myself. I actually raced a 150xcw for awhile! I had the same concern but its actually way easier on the Varg. Same result, different technique. Feels natural though.
Ez ride 40km with 50hp mode with 50%of battery enduro mid for me.
Test is good for
Cool video. I'm still waiting for mine.
Totally off topic,,,not sure why you and many other tubers absolutely overuse what you're "KINDA GONNA DO"
very annoying dialog. You are fucking absolutely DOING IT.
Guess I'm that old grumpy guy
Thanks man. Didn't realize that. I get it.
nothing worse than a camera pointing at the ground most of the time. I really wanted to watch this but got too annoyed.
Yeah sometimes the camera gets bumped and you don't know until afterward. Its not all like that though. I got a better mount now as well. I agree that view sucks.
