You guys did some amazing research on this, there's not much info like that on the park in English, you must have done some serious translation work! Just a heads up for the future, the "slot" from "Spookslot" doesn't translate to "lock", it translates to "castle". In English it'd be "Ghost castle".
Another fun fact on it is that the story got written a year or so after opening because guests complained there was none, they wrote it around the things you see during the show.
(I edited it since my English has improved a lot) I am so happy you didn't say: "the Efteling is a SMALLER version of DISNEY!" bc it isn't Disney (kind of) even copied old stories but then for children but Efteling used the real stories! Im dutch by the way i live in the Netherlands (NOT HOLLAND) and I almost go there every year but still it's special I'll go visit again soon me and my friends will go together to the Efteling this will be her second time, but her first time was as a really young child so this counts as her first time. as kid you are scared of many things like things in the "Sprookjesbos" like the wolf. Its really funny how you said it differently than we say it but thats bc this is English and not Dutch.

I have been going to Efteling since I was 4 in summer of 1985 the great 80's!
Don't remember the very first ride I went on but one of the first rides Swiss Bob-Sadly as you know no longer there but that is now Max + Moritz

@@QDude24 Ghost Castle is the most direct and in my opionion apt translation. Technically it is more enchanted, but well... Not calling it neither haunted nor enchanted makes it more clear: the Ghost Castle. Perfectly fine English.

Okay I’ve been to spookslot like a lot a lot but I never saw any of the Easter eggs (the chandelier swinging and stuff)... next time I’ll just chill in the room for a while
Back when it was new you'd have a queue all the way through the building, it's designed to give you something to see while waiting. Nowadays you can almost always walk straight to the main show.

Carnaval is the least liked of the dark rides but really fun for children! My nostalgia is big for it just like some Americans have with it's a small world. But yeah in comparison to Droomvlucht and Symbolica it's less refined.

If you have ever been trapped in that ride for fourty-five minutes due to complications in front of the bagpipe player... You'll gladly skip that ride for the rest of your life.

I live a 15 minutes drive away from the efteling and i visit it a lot. And I find it the best of europe. Yes, if they build a new thrill ride, that would be amazing. But the family and thrill rides they now have are the best! Cant wait till the next video!

Neat fact: the spookslot was accually considered scary by locals, my mother grew up there and she even learned to swim there. The pool closed after a lot of problems akin to a outdoor pool without heating in the winter.. it now houses the land of the laaf wich in modern Holland is very famous among native dutchmen
And the correct translation of spookslot is ghost castle..

Oh I love the Efteling! The Symbolica and Dream Flight are the best rides. I go at least once a year and now that it is reopening this month after the lockdown and I have booked a night at the hotel and two days in the park next month. It is just so fun. The old part is really great as well. The fairytale forest is adorable.

Hi! Was kinda sad you guys didn't cover any other of the darkrides, for they are truly amazing as well. As a local I pretty much grew up in the Efteling, and now I actually work there, and even though I am pretty much unable to pick a favourite darkride, they are worth mentioning for sure!

This video forgets to even ackknowledge, let alone hear, Ruud Bos's great music. This is pretty much 50% of the experience in the older Efteling ride especially. The great music created by former Efteling house-composer Ruud Bos in a review like this must be heard or mentioned at the least. He did pretty much everything until 1998, then , with the new dude, it became more simplistic and kitschy- throwaway-ringtony. Otherwise good video though.

This attraction looks so fun. Wish I had something like it closer.
Although there are some mistakes in this video (those beams are clearly green, and "phantomlock" is not a right translation), I really enjoy it when other countries talk about this, as this park is a masterpiece and deserves way more attention. Also, both the hands coming from the ground (it even made me afraid of my bedroom floor), and the sorcerers magic (it uses a very loud bang) scared me shitless

2:33 unfortunately as of now. This beautiful Haunted Castle ride got shut down September 4th 2022. The reason: "It wasn't popular enough, and not from this era anymore" basically false reasons since the ride has over 30.000 fans and even more than that and it is timeless since it stays awesome everytime people enter it or are hanging out near this ride. The new management of the Efteling basically is demolishing this attraction now. And will replace it with a new Haunted Castle. I wish they kept Spookslot and just gave it a good upgrade or maintenance to be in the Efteling forever
The Arabian Nights ride sounds amazing. The witch one does too however much like Snow White's Scary Adventures, I wouldn't get with in a mile of it if I didnt' have too.

Also, the room at 10:52 in Fata Morgana is a rotating room that tilts to the left while you go through it.

Oh, and be sure to cover the dragon in the fairytale forest, his name is Lichtgeraakt (best translated as Umbrageous) and quite a few have a plushie of him. Somewhat of an icon. You know? You should actually do a video of the whole forest, Troll King and Flying Fakir are also pretty iconic.
As a Muslim id love to see the Arabian nights dark ride. Glad to see people appreciate the culture

I think most people except jumpscares but in the 80s that wasn't a big thing yet in theme parks. I see it more as a gothic show with beautiful music to sit back and enjoy XD

@@venusxaino True, people aren't as amazed by it anymore is my impression, but back then it was a big deal. Folks hadn't seen something like this before, while now it fades a bit into the background since the Efteling has much bigger and more impressive stuff.
