Great video! And nice that I can contribute to this video with my footage! 📸
Thanks so much! Without your amazing footage we could't show people how amazing Efteling is!
Even Wesley’s here! I genuinely did not expect that.
Also: I don’t try to be or want to be seen as a ripoff. I just couldn’t think of a better name.
@@fastpassfacts Yes, we want a video of the fairytale forest
@@fastpassfacts hi there 👋
Would love to see more about the Fairytale Forest! 👍🏼🌹
As a dutch viewer, its fun to see you guys say dutch names, all jokes aside, it's really amazing to see you guys talking about the Efteling animatronics
know an english guy that doesn't speak dutch but he can perfectly repeat hugo's monologue.
15:00 as a kid I was scared of this dragon. You touch the crown in the treasure chest in front of him and he starts moving and as a kid you feel like he'll come fly after you if you run away 😂
My favorite part about the troll in the tree is the ground underneath your feet starts shaking.
Also loved the mushrooms throughout the fairy tale forest that make music. If you see a mushroom, get closer and put your ear on it
I'll also like to mention Peter Reijnders who brought life to the fairytale forest in 1952. Sleeping beauty is an animatronic that has been breathing from the beginning (before Disney). Peter Reijnders together with Anton Pieck and Reinier van der Heijden where the driving force behind the Efteling in the early year.
NEVER CLICKED A CZcams NOTIFICATION SO FAST
Too late, done it already 😅
As someone who is doing a series of video's about the entire history of the Efteling, I always love these video's to bring this themepark more in the international eye!
1 correction though, The George and the Dragon coaster track was not entirely replaced by a steel coaster, only a small corner that often broke down due to the stress on the wood there. so it's still mostly a wooden coaster except for that corner, or as the Efteling currently calls is, a Hybrid coaster!
I know this is about rides who still exist in the Efteling, but I do want to mention one animatronic that always made my day. The Eastern Spirit from Spookslot. Yes Spookslot got demolished, and it's as of now uncertain to tell if the Eastern Spirit will return in the new upcoming attraction, but he certainly is worth mentioning due to his size and vibes he gave
Symbolica animatronics are fantastic fun fact about that wizard is that at the opening of symbolica his animations had a middle finger up so they changed it
As a dutch viewer, it is amazing to see people from all around the world post video's of their experiences in Efteling. Efteling is THE must park to visit when you visit the Netherlands. I have visited the park more times then i can count, since i was just a small child.
The wailing women canonically break the elevator cable, which is when the ride plumits into the mine. So, canonically; you die while riding it.
The whale no longer dives down, now just opening its eyes. This is because the mechanics broke down, and Efteling can't fix it since they embeded it into the fake rocks at the back of the scene. They where adviced against doing this by the whale's manufacturer (P&P Projects) but they did anyway. Its not the first time Efteling was too stubborn to listen to manufacturers, and it sure won't be the last.
For Villa Volta, remember that Hugo is cursed to not find peace? Well, that also mean he can't die untill the curse is lifted, which is why he is so old at this point. The curse actually gets lifted in the ride itself, with 2 different Hugo animatronics embedded in the floor, signaling him finally reaching peace and, well, dieing. For the history of the Madhouse attraction, I would advice reading the 3 part special from the Dark Ride Database.
I can’t find the videos

Finally a video about Efteling! We would definitely like to see another one about the Fairy tale Forest. By the way, last time we visited about a month ago, Edna was not moving; still the sight of her was magnificent.
Edna barely moves as it is. When she was just build, there were a lot of issues. People are still trying to convince Efteling to fix Edna to her full potential
the cinderella animatronics prop -scene is wonderful.

I swear, I have never been to Efteling (someday) but I think it is the best theme park in the world after the Disneylands 😍😍
Its better then Disney....not bigger but better.
Its thanks to you guys and Expidition Theme Parks that I've become a huge fan of Efteling, especially in the rides like Droomvulcht, Fata Morgana, Spookslot (RIP original) and my personal favorite, Villa Volta
I don't know what it is, but Villa Volta just gives off this aura of mystique, wonder, doom, dread, and yet, an unmistaken beauty in its way to capture its lore, characters, setting, design, and music, god DAMN that music.
You guys brought up music a small bit in a few of the rides, which I felt you could delve more into since some of them are very atmospheric and really capture the feel of the location or the situation. Such like Villa Volta. The music was provided by the ever incredible Ruud Bos, who also did the music for Vogel Rok, Fata Morgona, and some arrangements for Carnival Festival. For Villa, he really captured the eeriness of the situation as Hugo spins you his tale of becoming cursed do to his careless actions, but also the big, bombastic and epic feel of the house as it spun around filling you with a sense of awe and dumbfounded Ness as you watch your world spin before you.
And of course, you have the main man himself, Hugo van den Loonsche Duynen, or Hugo for short. Man, what a character he is. Soft spoken, but very full of himself with no care in the world for the act he had committed, yet you can't help but pity him in his old state. One thing that is worth mentioning is his voiced which was fantastically provided by Julien Gustave "Jules" Croiset who was not only an actor, but has also dubbed in Ducth such characters like Doc from Snow White, Shere Kahn from Jungle Book and Prince John in Disney's Robin Hood. He also dubbed the main character in the animated series Dr. Snuggles who was voiced by Peter Ustinov (who voiced Prince John) in English. I wouldn't be too surprised if he ever dubbed Peter in other movies that he physically appeared in.
Very sorry, but I couldn't help but geek out about some extra facts in regards to my favorite Efteling ride that I felt were worth bringing up for others who wanted to dig deeper. I reccomend the website Eftepedia, though you will have to translate it since its in Dutch. Its worth it for extra behind the scenes stuff in regards to the making of this theme park.
Yes! Ruud Bos composed a lot of amazing soundtracks for the Efteling. I love his work, especially villa volta but also droomvlucht and fata morgana. De Vijf Zintuigen (a youtube channel about theme parks) made a really cool documentary about Ruud Bos where he speaks about the work he's done for the Efteling. I'd definitely recommend it if you haven't seen it, but it is in dutch so maybe that's a problem.
Honestly the music in the Efteling is superb and it's one of the reasons why it's my favourite theme park.
@@jotunfalls4026 I think I've seen the thumbnail to that video. Maybe it has a captions option to translate it from Dutch to English. I've seen that option for the Making of Fata Morgana documentary om CZcams too.
Love Efteling. I live in The Netherlands and i go every summer at least once. I can recommend for anyone who wants to go, worth it!
I love animatronics a lot I first loved animatronics from splash mountain
Thank you so much for this video. We love to see all the research you have done to make this really accurate video. Really well done 👌🏼
Finally! It happened!
I want to just lay in one of the fairy ponds.
This channel has made me so fascinated with animatronics!
Love getting to see this parks I hope to visit one day through your videos!
I really liked that you explained some of the mecanisims of the animatronics!
Amazing video 👍
Beautiful! Def a must see.
Lovely video, I really love the Efteling and it's nice to see people from all over the world appreciate it as well.
(just a hint though, both wikipedia and google translate have features where they can prenounce words in other languages for you)
As a dutch viewer I have to say that you did a pretty good job at saying dutch luidspreker words. I hope to see more videos
A video on the Fairytale Forest would be nice!
Great overview!
Love the video. Only thing I am missing is that at fata morgana those animatronics working on disks is designed by Efteling itself
I would love a video about the forest. This place looks amazing. ❤
Of course I want the fairytale forest video! I’d love to see your opinions. If I may, I do want to correct you with your pronunciation of Pardoes. Back in the day, it was easier for foreigners to pronounce his name correctly, because his name would differ per language. Pardoos in English, Pardus in German and Pardous in French.
The fairy land has such beautiful artwork.
those were some pretty neat animatronics!! 😯
Yes, always more Efteling!
Please please please please please do a video on all of the story book stories in after wings forest?! We would love that!
My god the nostalgia, it’s so weird to see Efteling being talked about on CZcams, I just remember it being somewhere I was dragged as a tween 😅
Went to efteling yesterday and completely agree
going there is definitely on my bucket list 😭😭
Oh yes, more about this park and the Fairytale Forest!
in 30/31-5-23 there was a fire at ravelijn,
the fireworks-flamethrowers malfunctioned and the stage-decor caught fire
I’ve seen videos of the “king’s new robes” and the programming of the show and animatronics is impressive
Fairytale forest!! Definitely wanna see thiss!!
Cool vídeo 😉
5:48 oh yes tell me more about the forest and it’s fairytale it represents in later videos.
One of the best themeparks of the world. ❤
Villa Volta!
We actually used to have a similar ride here in the US, in my homestate of NJ, at Great Adventure, called Houdini’s Great Escape!
Nowhere near as pretty, but it was one of my all time FAVORITE rides at Great Adventure. Wanna talk about messing with your equilibrium? XD
I think with Edna they tried to upscale the technique behind Draak Lichtgeraakt (Dragon Short-fuse/Touchy) from the forest and underestimated the amount of torque and other forces that would of course be bigger the the original could handle
If she ever get her full range of motion back it will need more than just a few things altered (foundation, and material that won't become problematic after few weeks/months)
and maybe for safety no flames but smoke machines? (we don't want stuff to catch fire like Ravelijn did (twice) in a short time)
Frau Holle was my favorite fairy tale growing up.
The Efteling is my fav park to go to. I have a subscription and I go very often. My dream is to see a ride break down while im in it😏
I swear I will never get enough of English speakers trying to pronounce Dutch names
Me too it's so funny i am Dutch myself and I know how you say it normaly so it's extra funny to hear English speakers try to pronounce Dutch names :D
Fun fact: in Dutch sign language, the name of the Efteling is based upon 'Langnek' (Long-neck), you create a kind of cup with your sign hand (fingers front) en move this hand from the shoulder to over the ear.
I've never heard of this theme park before. I'm beyond impressed

I would love to see a video on the fairytale garden video!!
Draconicon is/was able to spit fire from all 5 heads, he does/did this at the climax where all 5 heads look to the sky and spit fire
Would love to see your thoughts on family park in austria. They have some fun animatronics like the dragon or the pirate bears.
They have a ride exactly like Villa Volta at Six Flags New England, except it’s themed after the house of Houdini and the only “animatronics” are his locked hanging trunk and the locked water box that he used in escape tricks. The chains on the box jingle and the water bubbles. Then you move to the next room and are “tormented” by Houdini when he turns the room upside down and then you get to leave. It’s a ton of fun, if a bit short.
Six Flags installed 3 of those, one of them being in Belgium's Bellewaerde, not too far away from Efteling.
Six Flags Holland (which isn't in Holland btw, its in Flevoland) and Six Flags Belgium also opened some, but these where unique.
Houdini is my FAVORITE ride at 6 flags NE!
Villa Volta was the first of it's kind if I'm informed correctly.

I would love to see a list of Judy the fairytale forest animatronics, that would be awesome!
oh well i just got reminded of nightmares the fata morgana ride gave tiny me....
ngl that whale animatronic is cute and also kinda terrifying
Absolutely!
Fairytale Forest vid sounds good
Doing a video on Eftaling's Fairytale Forst attraction is a really, and what would make it even better would be that you include the exhibit in there of The Wolf and 7 Kids (that's the one with that house full of goat figures in clothing), I'd like to learn more about that story as it looks interesting 🤔
I swear Edna is such a meme among employees and enthusiasts, whenever something happens you always hear "I mean Edna is still broken so what did you expect?" Or "ohhh yeaahhh I'm sure the park will do XYZ! Just like how they will fix Edna!" I think it's mostly employees tho
I wanna see the fairies!
Please do a video of the Fairy Tales in the Fairy Tale forest.
10:03 actually, I have to be honest. Hugo was advanced for its time. But nowadays its mouth doesn’t match up that well, his range of movement is narrow. It just isn’t that good.
As ging there myself i really like vogelrok as my fav i maan i always go there!
Great video. You mist some Animatronics, Who have the samen systeem as Fata Morgana (exept for the eyemovement and mouthmovement),called Laven. They live in a Village between Villa Volta and Anton Pieck plaza (plein translate in Englisch) called Lavenlaar. The story is called Volk van Laaf (in Englisch People of Laaf).
Sound's like the Baron needs the ghost busters.
Also how does that park keep the Animatronics that are outside safe from the elements of nature? I do hope they cover them up with Tarp or have a trapdoor beneath the figure to tuck them safely underground.
i live 30 minutes away love the park have a abonement!
Can u do a vid on the fairytale Forest and maybe one on buzzy too please thank u
I want to see a video about the fairytale forest
The whole efteling just oozes magic. Even more than disney imo. That may just be because i grew up with it
That’s true Efteling is pure magic
Question for you Fastpass Facts. Who is the Narrator guy that you go with? His voice is very familiar and you guys use him a lot for your videos. Who is he? Is he a good friend of yours? Is that why he usually Narrates your videos? Also what’s that Accent your Husband has? And what’s your accent that you have? Thanks Devin. 😊
I feel like this theme park keeps some of the magic that Disney seems to have lost.
❤❤❤
ill visit one day
You should! It’s amazing!
Still so sad about Edna not working like she used to when the coaster opened 😔
I will always prefer the first version of the Hugo animatronic. He looks more like a tormented man
As someone who grew up going to Disney World almost every other summer, I can't believe I never knew about this place. I'm absolutely enamored with what I'm seeing. Do you guys have a suggestion for a video or channel for someone who wants to educate themselves and has no idea about this park, it's history or where it began without completely losing the magic?
the official efteling youtube channel is actually really nice! they have all kinds of videos. behind the scenes, videos from the past and stuff like that
I am actually working on a long series of videos about the history of the Efteling in English, only 1 video has been uploaded so far, but I am already editing the next one!
the expedition theme park channel is great!
Yes, you missed 2 or 3 Animatronics. Its the Max and Moritz Animatronics in the Max and Moritz Coaster. I havent been in over 3 Years to efteling cause of the Pandemic, but loved this Themepark. In the Station of the Coaster you have Moritz hanging on a Device paddling around and on the outside is an simple Animatronic of a Teacher looking out of a Window.
Also in the Fairytale Forest is the Singing Bird Tale which also has some Animatronics in it. But I think you really should make a whole Video of the Forest =)
Also there is the Land van Toos, or how they were called. Its next to the Villa Volta and a Walktrough attraction. Several Animatronics in there =)
Efteling really is Unique and the Tales and Theming are amazing. I would say, its even better than Phantasialand and Europapark.
Land of Laaf? Toos is from Toverland, not Efteling.
@@kosmoboo Ahhh yes. Im way to often in Toverland xD My Misstake
what about the poor homeless girl selling match's animatronic who's granmother comes back to her in spirit-form to take her to heaven after the girl dies on the street
You forgot the bats from spookslot. They are my favorite
Spookslot has been torn down to be replaced by Danse Macabre in 2024. Many elements of Spookslot are apparently returning in that, like the entrance and maybe the bats!
Video about Fairytale Forest please. Go scene by scene.
12:13 Murphy’s older cousin
Edna is actually a year younger than Murphy, with Joris en de Draak opening in 2010
I would really love if you did an in depth review of each of the rides and the fairytale forest. Especially the Baron 1898. I’m a little confused by the story because it says in the Wikipedia page that a man named Laars helps you into the ride vehicles and then he along with the office explode, but not before sending you up the lift hill before it combusts. I never see this happen or a mention of it in any of the ride POVs that I watch. I would love your take on it or if anyone else has an answer.
I have never heard of the explosion. I do believe the lift cable gets cut off by the wailing women, and that’s why you fall. I also have never heard of Laars. It seems kinda strange to me also because laars translates to boot. I visit the Efteling at least once a month and read Eftepedia in my free time, so I see myself as a pretty reliable source.
@@EftelQuint that’s what I have seen as well however, I was really confused because several websites mentioned this. Here’s an excerpt from Wikipedia: “After the Baron is called out of his office to tend to an emergency in the mine shaft, mine overseer Laars will help guests into his specially designed mine elevator vehicles that are capable of traveling both vertically and horizontally. After the guests board the special mine cars, Laars and the machine shop are suddenly attacked by vengeful spirits of miners who have previously vanished under the influence of the "Witte Wieven". Before Laars's office apparently explodes, he sends the miners out of the mine; as the car ascends, a giant fireball bursts from the opening of the machine shop and almost reaches the rear car of the train. As the train is about to leave the mine, it stops as the "Witte Wieven" can be heard singing from the pit, from which smoke pours and lights can be seen. After a few seconds, the "Witte Wieven" scream, "You shall not evade my curse! Prepare to forfeit your lives!" as the miners plunge down the exit of the mine.”
@@msmartellaamanda I have indeed read that. I think those other websites just got it from Wikipedia then. I also own the book of Baron 1898 and nothing about this is mentioned in there as well. In the book the mine just caves in when the main characters where inside, but they later get saved.
I live in the Netherlands
13:19 they loved pirates of the caribbean ride but not wanting to copy paste a ride they made a morrocan/middle eastern theme instead of a pirate theme
