The setup is just very agressive with AP Racing discs and CL RC6 sintered metal brake pads. There is no better setup for the track except ultra costly carbon/carbon or carbon/ceramic brakes. It may be "a little bit noisy" but I don't care, I'm not here for cruising :-D
Camera is a Garmin Virb Ultra 30. Gauges data comes from the cam sensors.
Lap timing App on the iPhone is Harry's Laptimer + an external 10 Hz GPS (Dual XGPS160).
I had the chance to do a quick lap on an almost empty Nordschleife with my Lotus Exige S2 (NA engine). But a dumb Nissan GT-R driver doing stupid things with is car ruined my lap. He finally almost crashed... twice ! At Hatzenbach and Adenauer Forst ! - Auta a dopravní prostředky

I think the GTR was focusing more on you then the track

To anyone wondering what that high pitch chirping sound is coming from... It is not the brakes.
You can't tell from the angle but the driver has equipped an onboard easy bake oven on the passenger side. He is simultaneously baking muffins one at a time while driving the course. The chirp sound is an indicator when each muffin is done.

Shows how good the GTR is, even with a blind handicapped amputee muppet driving, it was still able to be saved from a fair few scary crash scenarios in only a few seconds. The guy shouldn't have been on the track, absolutely terrible driving and no car control or idea of where he was on the track, and he was deliberately blocking like he was Schumi in the last lap with Irvine behind him. Great move to pass him, and you could tell easily the cars ability outweighed his ability by a long way when he lost it trying to catch you. Great drive!

Obviously played for too much GT....piss poor and dangerous driving....your driving on the other hand was sublime....you seemed to be getting the maximum out of that little Lotus....I salute you sir !

That GT-R was 1 step away from sending himself to the shadow realm. Absolutely crazy this GT-R driver.... So many times during this video I was like WHY IS HE (the GT-R) BRAKING THERE!? His lines were also horrible, so I'm pretty sure he didn't know the track. Regardless, very nice setup you have there sir! Seems like an amazing car to drive!
It's not the most powerful car. Not even the most powerful Exige by far ! But it's an absolute joy to drive. In the past I changed my track toy every 4 years. But I love this one so much than I don't want to change anymore :-)

That GTR driver did not know the track, he missed all the early trickier corners where you lose traction due to the sudden changes in elevation before entering the curve

Grocery getter's brakes are tuned to brake strong one time in case of emergency and not produce any noise. That not the same thing !

@@hue6169 I've driven both an evo 10 and a 458 Italia while a company rented out these cars for a race track, and each of them had carbon metallic brakes that were just as loud as these, they told me it's completely normal.
Race breaks are design to break properly when on high speed and need to break strongly. When you start breaking by stock brakes from 200km, very intensive then high temp don't let you break. That's why they making notice... They, let's say cold...

Not much is more frustrating than being stuck behind a slow driver in a fast car. A fast driver in a fast car is of course no problem, and a slow driver in a slow car is easy to pass. A slow driver in a fast car though? Recipe for an aneurysm for anyone with skill behind them...

@Andrew cianciotta Every serious track day car have modified brakes as standard road brakes are totally unsuited for this usage. Standard brakes are made to brake strong one time in case of emergency.
Track day/race brakes are supposes to brake at the grip limit with high grip/semi slicks or slicks tires before every turn on the most demanding tracks at least for half an hour or more. Not all race brake setups make noise but noise is by far the least important parameter in building track day/race brakes.
The setup I use is in the video description and it is quite extreme yet not too expensive : several thousands Euros but it's a lot less than carbon/ceramics or carbon where it is tens of thousands of Euros.

@Andrew cianciotta like Taurim said normal daily driver cars dont need to stop from 200 to 60 how many times that a track car does around a circuit. You stop every now and the and hardly stop very aggressively.
If you had to do that with a normal car you will get brake fade. The disc and pad heats up and then you get brake fade. This is due to compounds used and heat build up in the disc and pad. As soon as you get brake fade you not braking optimal anymore and it's dangerous.
The OP has a special brake system. Some are noisy when cold but as soon as they get some heat in them they reach optimal performance and the noise goes away. And some just keep squeeking all the way.
The race compounds work the other way around the need heat to function optimally so you wont find them on normal cars. As normal cars under normal driving wont get enough heat into the system.
OP you can correct me if I'm wro g as I'm no engineer just how I understand performance brakes.

I mean...makes sense the Exige would beat the GTR on the ring though just purely due to it's much better handling overall the GTR has power...but it weighs a ton so...ehhh...great straight line car.

@@danielmasawi1377 a mid engine ~800kg car will always beat a 1800kg AWD whale 🐳 . Mid engine RWD is far better than an AWD. With an AWD you understeer a lot and you carry a lot of extra weight.

If you see the brake lights on and off like a light switch, you know the driver is unsure of his inputs.

@@DMAX-tp4pc yeah I've seen that safety feature. But I'm sure they only do that in the most harshest of emergency stops. Like really hard braking to warn others behind. This seemed more like, on, off on off manually. The brake flashing was to irractic to be the on board computers.

He should have driven on a completely different track and a completely different car. As far as I know the Nordschleife is not the easiest track to drive on.
I mean there's nothing wrong with lack of skill and knowledge, but there are other tracks and locations which are better suited for beginners/drivers who are still learning.

I don't think this should be viewed as "ruining the lap". Rather, it was a unique and blessed opportunity to capture on video, possibly the worst driver ever to lap the course.
Man...returning to this classic video again because it showed up on my recommended. And after reading all these comments, it appears that some car people, or people in general, do not know anything about racing, especially pertaining to the brake noise. He has high-performance brakes, which when cool, are prone to squeal (more metallic) and since this is the Ring he isn't braking super hard like other places would require. With my racing I also have developed an ear for brake noises (the bad noises) when I genuinely had no brakes and there was genuine metal on metal! Those were street pads, so that is what other people are thinking of. And whenever I have noises and no problems, my racing coach always tells me, "Turn up the radio! Forget about it!" It's not a problem. But no, do your research before commenting something that makes you look foolish.
You nailed it ! If you look at my other vids on other tracks (Le Mans for example), brakes are hot and almost silent ! But the Ring is very fast with few braking zones so brakes stay cool.
