@@stg2457 If you're officially a citizen of a Republic then you are allowed to vote. A democracy is technically based on the votes/interests of the majority of the citizens and if you have the citizenship then you're registered as a citizen therefore you are able to participate in elections no matter if you stay in the country or not. I am not the one making the rules here. In the end it's the country's law that matters.
I understand the thought of finding it unfair tho. Don't get me wrong: I am not trying to defend Turks who are obsessed with Erdoğan and vote him yet would not even dare to actually live under his government (Because I can guarantee you: they are dumb): I have relatives which live in Turkey and/or Germany and I'm TIRED of hearing their stupid "arguments" of why one should vote him despite the country having major issues like the inflation and terrorist attacks (p*k) etc.
Regarding young turkish voters in Germany: I noticed that most young Turks (born after 2000) in Germany don't have the Turkish citizenship because of Germany's law that made it possible for children's of immigrants born after 2000 to get the German citizenship by birth (under certain conditions). Most got the German citizenship by birth so there parents didn't care to register them in the consulate --> no Turkish citizenship so they can't even vote. It's really the older generations here that vote him and old people in general tend to vote conservative. Democracy is based on the interests of the citizens of the country. And if you have the citizenship your voice still counts aka you can vote. This goes for all democracies.
I can understand the point of finding it unfair tho: but I am not the one making the rule here the government must decide this. But please don't get me wrong: I am not trying to defend akp supporters who vote him while not even living in Turkey: As a Turkish citizen born and raised in Germany I hate them even more since they are the reason why there is so much hate against us. How ever what I am saying is that rte did not win due to Turks in the Diaspora voting but because of the majority of Turks inside of Turkey voting him. You can't just ignore the masses of akp supporters in Turkey. My family in Germany votes the opposition but my relatives in Turkey vote him🤷🏽♀️ and they are the majority. I noticed a common pattern among akp voters in Germany: old people, origins from black sea and/or central/east Anatolia, religious, working middle-class --> they literally represent his typical voters just like in Turkey.
There's still a large Kemalist population here though but it's mainly the ones with origins from the Aegean region from Turkey. Please understand that we are all not the same and the results of votes in Germany does not represent all Turks in Germany since many (especially the ones supporting the opposition) do not vote the akp.
