  • There is more to Summer Landscape Photography than Sunrise and sunset. As I discovered on a recent woodland walk sometimes the unexpected happens.
Summer is a difficult time for landscape photographers. Chasing the sunsets and sunrises, fighting against the inevitable early starts and finishes is exhausting, and after you have shot a few of the apparent summer landscape photographs, what’s next
One very hot morning just around sunrise I visited a local wood to see what I could shoot. What I found was Challenging and the results were unexpected. I used Neutral Density and Polarising Filters to tackle the challenging light, converting to black and white, focusing on close-ups and playing with some experimental rim lighting on backlit trees.

Great to have some inspiration for summer months (not too long to go!). The mono trees looked good to me. Thanks for the content and I will get out and give it a go!
