*Shows clip of it darting all about at a high sensitivity*
Mishpãré Urśhjìlk IKR
Yeah, I like how his clip SHOWED why Nintendo didn't include this. It doesn't work well, AT ALL.
Now they probably should have used this same logic with their garbage multiplayer but ehh...
is that even gyro? I thought it had to do with the sensor on the joycon
@@Dankster5000 yes its gyro. How would it work if it were a sensor like the wii, theres no reciever
Cruxin
There is an ir receiver on the joy cons

The pure directness of this made me spit out my water.
Professor Pro got this to 69 likes, nice
It's not even bad, I have no idea what he's talking about.
Every game I have had has been nearly perfect.
@@chasemccrary955, I think your experience may be atypical. I've had way too many matches where it was such a bad connection, it literally took 2 minutes to get through the 3-2-1 countdown ...
My thoughts when Arlo confessed his Candy Crush addiction.
Chase McCrary I’m assuming you’re very lucky. Mine’s been around 50/50 for decent online.
Guys. Play Arlo’s level, it’s really good, like astonishingly good. He’ll definitely get to meet Reggie now.
There should be an option to bookmark comments
Isn't regie dead?
Nip just out of Nintendo
The strongest stars have hearts of kyber.
He’s not dead wtf

Me too

GounterMcSnounter California is still America
I wish I had a grandpa or Uncle like him... ;_;
on the other hand, I wouldn't trade my fam for any other =D (over 100 relatives on one side!)
I know!
Dammit Arlo, I will make the Pink Floyd joke FOR YOU!
So, does the new Mario Maker ECLIPSE the original, or is this just Another Brick Block in the Wall?
I got wide staring eyes, got a strong urge to fly, but I got nowhere to fly to... fly to.... fly to.... (me 90% of courses i play. )
I guess you could say that when it comes to SMM1, theres _Nobody Home_
@Puertorican Santa Good joke, but the later albums, including the song High Hopes were really big hits so it isn't very accurate.
Mother do you think the games good enough...for me?
The hard block is unbreakable.
2:34 Who’s hand is that?
It’s not nearly fluffy enough to be Arlo’s.
Nathan L, lockstin was probably helping him record footage
Something’s telling me GameXplain, not quite sure what though.
it's Andre Segers of gamexplain.. kinda given away from the little gamexplain logo in the corner haha
Dammit i wanted to make that joke
Nathan L He probably got footage from some random video
The practical joke level at 1:06 was honestly pretty funny.
Was scroll stop hard for people? You just draw a straight line of block from top to bottom and that's it.
It's definitely more tedious than it should be
@@VMan776 agreed but I don't see how anyone could have trouble with it working sometimes and sometimes not
@@dooplon5083 A lot of my problems with scroll stop involve making a room that is either smaller than a screen or has oddly shaped walls. Sometimes the scroll stop doesn't work properly in that case. Additionally, sometimes I want the scroll to go a slight ways into the wall beyond 1 tile, so I need to leave more open space off screen and it gets annoying.
I think it should be a line from one section of a level instead of all the way to the top. Having a roof and a line covering a section should also stop the scrolling
@@VMan776 for scroll stop to work it needs to be a *straight* line from top to bottom or left to right
Your level genuinely brought tears to my eyes. I cannot describe the rollercoaster of emotions that I experienced while playing it, and if I did words would not be enough to express what it meant to me.
The way the landscape was fashioned was (for a lack of better words) masterful, as it perfectly encapsulated the way a creator’s mind works; a blank canvas, waiting to be worked with to create a masterpiece.
The fireballs coming from what I’m assuming is an offscreen bowser at the end struck a perfect balance between suspense and anticipation, and the result is the player’s subconscious need to find this bowser grows with every step. This call, however, is never answered as the level ends before they get to meet it. This creates a brilliant sense of longing for more, which would naturally be perfect design if this were to be made into a whole game (which I’m hoping it is), as the player would be hooked and have the urge to continue to the next level. Please keep up the excellent work, you’re an amazing creator mate!

Super Mario Maker 2: *_Now you're building with power!_*
**Looks at the hot garbage online**
... but at what cost?
Ok
o h w e l l
I mean, online multiplayer wasn't even a thing in the first game, so it's not much of a cost.
@@Nintencon that's what I was going to say
*(Yoshiaki Koizumi snaps fingers)*
13:03 Arlo, you’re level is incredible. Brilliantly done, so creative, so thoughtful, I had an absolute blast working my way through it. It was everything a Mario maker level should be: challenging, interesting, clever, and most importantly fun. Thank you so much for that experience. For anyone who hasn’t played the level yet, you’re in for a REAL treat!
My experience with the online play is that at first it was often very laggy, but once I gained points and got higher ranks and got to play against others with similar ranks, the lag issue became rarer. My rank now is B and almost always the game has very little lag.
Probably because anyone who got that high of a rank couldn’t have done so if they have bad internet.
@@HanSanwich exactly.
@@Patralgan The other part as that as you've been climbing the ranks, Nintendo shored up the service for multiplayer.
Does it shoot for the darker side of the moon or is it just another brick block in the wall?
pls hire me
I'm pretty sure there's actually some level in the story mode that's just a reference to that!
Love your course arlo!
I can see how much thought went into it.
I liked the part with the coins the most.
3:50
That Mario Party 4 music caught me by a surprise wave of nostalgia.
Thank you for the course Arlo. It truly was one of the hardest, most difficult, and well designed levels I’ve ever played.
Arlo Logo: Make the Mario
Me remembering dinosaurs: Make the Mario! Make the Mario! Make the Mario! MAKE THE MARIO!
my gosh i havent seen anyone on the net mention dinosaurs kudos to u bruh
Not the Moma! Dang I miss that show.
MAKE THE WARIo....oh
This game is missing the best Mario enemy, Spike. Therefore, I must give it a 1 out of 7.
Professor Pro Also Pokeys. It doesn’t make sense why they added new themes but not enemies for those themes; every theme in the first one had a set of enemies.
Fuzzies are missing, too.
FISHY BOOPKINS!!!
@@Chubby_Bub They didnt include the nationnal dex in Mario Maker 2.
@@Chubby_Bub I imagine enemies might get added in updates. Pokeys were one of my first thoughts to that possibility. As it's been in every mario game style they have except the original. And they could just use super mario bros 3 pokey in there if they wanted. Charging chucks, regular blargs, and the various power-ups from the various games are all possibilities. I'd really appreciate the hammer or frog suit for SMB3, Penguin or ice flower for new super, or bloated mario for super mario world(although that one kinda sucks), and Lanky mario back into the regular super mario. There's a lot of potential here for updates.
Oh man, I PLAYED that sand bird stage! It was pretty cool.

I’m basically the same, though I got my game a couple of days after launch. I just like to hear Arlo’s complete thoughts about something and see what he thinks about a product or situation. He is a very talent and pure CZcamsr, those are rare to come by 😄

CMS Gaming thanks for the tip!
@@seanbradley5427 nah. Ive mostly gotten bullshit levels like flying in a fire clowncar to the end while 500 koopas in fire clowncars were spammed in there. And of course it was FULL length

So many arlo videos this week!! Is it my birthday?
Mario Maker 2 in the ads: The Dog
Mario maker 2 actual game: The werewolf decoration
I've been having an amazing time with Mario Maker 2 so far, really the only complaints I have are the online and how many features were just cut out of 3d world for some reason.
I've never seen such a good level Arlo. Keep up the good work!
I love your course Arlo, I can only wish to one day be as great at level design as you
I don't know how you think scroll stop is hard, you just draw a line from the top to the bottom of the screen
The online is terrible. It’s not anyone’s connection that is bad.
Even a youtuber called Alpharad was playing alone and it still lagged, and he had good connection.
It is Nintendo’s servers that are bad.
I love alpharad!
And yeah, nintendo, get gud online already!
Hey just saw your cameo on cinemassacre and loved it! Here to show some support! Keep it up man!
Arlo, when I played your level I was just blown away by the creativity and thought that went into creating that level just to start out the coins at the beginning, were so simple yet so direct they said everything that was needed yet it was so short then came actually trying to beat the level and let me just tell you it is no joke this level really just puts your platforming skills to the test and makes you re-think how a Mario level is supposed to work I won't spoil anything for those of you who have not tried it out yet but I just wanted to warn you of the challenge that lies ahead you will try time and time again just to quit for a few days then you will come back and only make a microscopic amount of progress Arlo might look like a harmless blue puppet but on the inside he is actually a ruthless monster hungry for Mario's death but finally I came to the finish flag just to be killed and had to start over from the beginning because there are no checkpoints in this level but as far as complaints go that is honestly my only one the level while being brutally difficult it is still fair overall I was very impressed with this level because going in I thought there was going to be no thought or effort put in to this level but I was completley wrong and I hope to see more levels from arlo in the future
My only issue right now is for levels with clear conditions, the notification for it covers way too much of the screen when you start the level.
I love when games have enough effort put into them that i feel like they are worth 60$.
Woah, love your map Arlo, really one of a kind! ;D
Finally, been waiting on your take on this! Just bought it and wanted to hear what you think! Let's watch and enjoy!!!
When Arlo publishes a new video, my body thrusts in unparalleled pleasure.

Looking forward to trying this level. So far I only have 4 levels uploaded (1 of which I forgot could soft lock you in one part, but the block options I'm given kind of restrict how I could set it up and stay true to the inspiration.) and 1 more level almost finished with the use of one of the unlockable powerups.
Congrats on the cinemassacre crossover!!
Wow arlo, you've been putting out so many videos this week! Omg

As a father of 3 this game is amazing. I can make levels for my kids gradually introducing them to new mechanics and gimmicks in levels. Let them explore a new creative outlet and make levels and play together. One my friends from high school got Mario maker 2 on his switch and we have re connected and he uploads regularly so far. Been playing his hard levels before I go to bed at night and giving a heart and comment with feedback. Love Mario maker 2, really appeals to literally anyone.
your Level is superbly done, didnt expect that level of expertise
All I want is the ability to create 4-leveled Worlds for my friends to play, not just single courses
Huh, did they remove that feature or something?

Twewy fans would know that switch pointer controls were a mistake
I've been waiting for this review and it did not disappoint :)
I had a really fun time with the online tbh. Not quite as laggy for me as it was for Arlo, but even when it was I found it like, super unfrustrating?
Maybe it’s cause I’ve mostly been playing co-op, because I know in competitive games like smash it’s downright infuriating, but the chaotic joy of 4-player Mario doesn’t get any more chaotic than when someone in your room has a potato connection. It slows down the action and makes it easier to troll people lol.
I dunno, some of the funniest moments I’ve ever had playing video games have been in that mode. I’ve been loving it.
That and some genuine moments of teamwork when we come to a hard single player stage and the last couple of us are trying to work through it together and cheese it with respawns. Super fun
I would love a Break the Target Maker for Smash Bros.
I feel like maker 2 and splatoon 2 are prime examples of what sequels should be. They innovate, add new content, and is overall just a better game while keeping the same basic game design
So Cool to see U and James work together!
The change to your patreon was a great idea. You’ve got yourself a new patron
Anybody have a video of Arlo's level, since I don't plan on getting the game?
I feel bad for spoiling this, but it's a troll lol. He made a level where you get a star and kill a bunch of enemies and that's it 😂
The next Super Maker should have Link, Simon Belmont, Samus, Kirby and Sonic.
So what you’re telling me is...
*SUPER NINTENDO MAKER NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE.*
Tom GameR would be cool
Me: walks out of store with this game
Arlo: uploads
If I were to add one thing to the game, I would absolutely LOVEE the speaker boxes from SMW. Yeahh you can technically use comments, but those can be turned off, and there's no way to indicate that they're made by the creator. Being able to add in a tip or some lore to the level would be really cool.
Will the game have you jumping to the dark side of the moon or is it just another brick block in the wall?
Fun review. I'll check you're level out later, I've added it to my list of levels to check out.
Good luck.
DO you need Switch online to fully enjoy this game?
Pretty much. MM2 does come with levels built in but all of the online functions are behind that online paywall.
You're 100% right about that Multiplayer. However, I haven't really had a problem using scroll-stop. Yes, at some times it didn't really work, but following the way it is shown in the Direct, it totally works. Just build a wall from the very edge of a stage to the other one. Yes, I'd prefer to only have to build a wall the player can't get over, but it is totally usable this way.
wow. that was amazing arlo.
that level changed my life!
Can you play your level on the second channel for those of us who don't have smm2?
Mark Schwader I don’t think you want to see it. He was trolling, just utter garbage compiled on eachother
His level is so good, your screen would explode.

“Woosh I guess” made me laugh so hard I woke up the dog and started a chain reaction of everyone getting up earlier than they wanted to. Thanks, Arlo!
I agreed with pretty much the whole video besides the scroll stop. It was a very easy mechanic to use for me and I freakin love that it’s in this game since it saves so many blocks plus making levels more professional looking. I believe they implemented well and besides making very small rooms it’s a great feature.
Good review but the scroll stop complaint confuses me? What’s wrong with it? Works pretty well.
He's asking for an invisible token you could place on the map to stop scrolling as opposed to the full wall of terrain
I've always used a 2 block width for my courses.
David H. I feel like that’s worse. Full stop wall is a lot easier to understand imo.
So the question is, mother, should I play this game or will it be just another brick block in the wall
The Optimistic Nihilists Get it. I have 100 hours in it and it’s been out for 2 weeks
Should you spend your TIME and MONEY?
I was already pretty sure about buying this, I was just waiting for a good time, but after this review there's no question, I'm buying it as soon as possible
it's a phenomenal game - it's completely mind-blowing to see some of the creative level designs people come up with
You could have said "will it shine like a crazy diamond" for a positive Pink Floyd quote
Roxol P or a different kind of reference too
Wait... How is there bodily oil damage on the back of your switch (from holding it) in the thumbnail when you're made up of fur? 🤔🤔🤔
MattWasabii I don’t need sleep, I need answers
obviously someone else was playing it too. its not like Arlo doesnt have friends.
Scroll stop was confusing to figure out, but once done, it works fine... Essentially, on stages going left to right you need a full line going from top to bottom. On stages going top to bottom you need a full line going from left to right. You can place the line anywhere as many times as you wish.
Love how you decided to drop the closing gag in favor of a carefully crafted, dungeon crawling, headscratching masterpiece level.
Who was the monster that made that first level? (The one right after that switch).
3D world is my least favorite style, no one way walls is what really hurts me
New Arlo review? My body is ready!
I just noticed you have Mario party 4 music playing in the background... I almost cried. Thank you.

*A very good day indeed.*
I wish we had more creative people like you making levels.
For all that's great about SMM2, Nintendo should be completely ASHAMED of how they're handling the online portions of their FLAGSHIP TITLES. If you can't foot the bill for some servers for people to play on, then why even bother? P2P is a terrible decision on a system like Switch, where so many people are playing on awful wifi connections.
When the online lag is worse than the couch co-op lag from when someone dies then you know it's a problem.
YOU CAN TURN COMMENTS OFF. (I had to do it myself)
Yeah, he said that.
It's literally on the pause menu
6:58 At a first, brief glance I thought 'grandpa Chuck' was offering a gun. XD
Having got the game for Christmas, the online now works great about 80% of the time. It’s definitely worth playing now.
It’s all good until you realize 3D World has nothing
Nathan L blatant lies
3D world has the most new stuff. Riding Thwomps, Clear Pipes, Changing Blocks, Crates, new enemies, the koopa car.
Luckysquirrel1256 well, of course it has the most new stuff considering it’s an entirely new separated style. But the amount of missing features is kinda ridiculous. You can’t even stack enemies.
Cant wait for the 3 hour review of this in 2 years
I remember when the first game came out and I was all excited to get it with the 8 bit Mario amiibo. And then staying up until midnight playing it.
When I inevitably pick up this one, I'm staying up all night.
I can't wait to play some of the escape rooms. Loved those in the last one.
