If there's ONE THING that needs to be added to World Maker, it's alternate exits to levels. Imagine using keys to unlock new paths & levels or finishing a level in a certain time, pretty much reinvent the SMW style of interconnected.
I would like a world 9. Where there are 8 regular worlds, and a 9th bonus small one. I also would like different themes for world maker. As of now it just looks like super mario world. It would be really cool if we could make the world map themes set to the super mario bros 3 format, and wii u format, and 3d world format. They would have to get a little creative for the original Super mario bros though
NumberOne#1 I thought the same! I think that if you are in a sub area you should be able to place an alternate flag pole or something, if you are not playing a world it just gives you extra 1-ups for 100 mario more and stuff.

I mean, it's no secret that they carved out content that would normally be part of the base game only to release them as Seasonal Events.
I have no problem with that, none at all... *but they better release those seasonal events.*
@@ravenpotter3/videos The only problem with that is that Splatoon 2's already had its final Major Update. Possibly its Final Update in General; I can't remember when they said they'd stop doing balancing updates/bugfixes.
Even so, Splatoon 2 has at least two things that everyone from the ORIGINAL game had been clamoring to have for YEARS: the ability to play as Octolings (you just have to buy the Octo Expansion and go through it once to unlock that), AND the ability to play in Splatfest Mode in multiplayer - with the addition of every Shifty Station stage ALSO being available (though only in that mode). :D
That's not even mentioning the oodles of NEW stuff that they added to Splatoon 2 over the years, too: new Main, Sub, and Special weapons, new - and returning old - stages, et cetera. :D
I don't really know what else they could possibly add to it, really.
Eh, the update isnt that big, or as impressive as this update for SMM2. I really doubt it will help it 'speed back up' all that much. At least, not nearly as much as i think this update to SMM2 will do.

Jonathan C. They really should like... double the amount of courses. I bought Mario kart 8 deluxe a couple of months ago and I was bored after a week. Not much variety, and the online is wonky.
@@jurel6622 You kidding me? There are 48 tracks and a battle mode. Far more than any previous MK title. But if you want more cart racing, you should check out CTR Nitro Fueled. It's a much more fast-paced and technical cart-racer with tons of content.

Nintendo shows respect for this game, and I enjoy that so much. The amount of stuff packed in this update is amazing. World Maker, the new powerups and items, they all open up a floodgate of creativity for the game, and that is amazing.
And only 4 months after the last update! They must’ve been working on this right when they released that one
How are they showing respect for it when they didn't even bother adding the rest of the amiibo support that the first game had back into it?

They traded the amiibo's and opened tons of new ideas when they introduced Link, and now SMB2 Mario. Even though it's the last major update there's still potential for plenty more to show up.

I was missing motivation to make levels cause there’s just so much possible and I didn’t have any direction. Now that it’s directed as “you are MAKING a Mario game” I feel like I wanna go back and make entire worlds and really focus on level design from a world and theme perspective.

Updates in AC have nothing to do with hype lol all he means is people probably aren’t playing it for 10 hours straight anymore. By now people have their islands generally set up and are really just doing their daily’s, shopping, some tinkering, and getting off.
Hype dying doesn't mean the game isn't being played, right now Animal Crossing is acting like any other real Life sim, you play a few hours, and finish, the Next day you repeat. Animal Crossing was always like this and there's nothing wrong with that, Animal Crossing is meant to be played from time to time.

Arlo, with all due respect, I think you’re wrong. SMM2 doesn’t need to be a bigger deal than it is, it doesn’t need to have another renaissance in which everyone makes videos on CZcams and it doesn’t need to have major updates every three months to be a great game. SMM2 is already the best level creation game ever made. It already is a very big upgrade upon its predecessor. It already is a game with infinite possibilities. They don’t need to chase CZcams trends in order to make the game better.

@Daniel Lete Yes, you can have the opinion of the game being great the way it is, but the goal for Nintendo is to sell as many copies of the game as possible. There’s no denying that they would’ve definitely been able to sell the game much better if they had some of these updates from the start.
I would argue that a game that has a far more versatile engine is Trials Rising. It might look like a motorbike game, but in the level creator you can make first person shooters, RPG-style adventures, racing games, and shoot-em up space games

Can’t lie, I’m a bit disappointed that we aren’t getting any new game styles, but it is hard to be angry with all this new stuff (and world created too!)

Trust me - this will be massive. All of my (adult) sons are level-design crazy, and their friends too. I don't have a Switch, but this makes me want one! Also, remember that a swift kick in the head will discourage even the meanest hound. You have mass and strength on your side. You need to be assertive around stray dogs or they sense it.

I believe there are 2 major reasons why SMM2 had this reaction:
1 - The number of new games coming in the following month.
2 - We live in an age where games are consumed and released very quickly, even with content for months, we do a overdose early on and get bored early too: soon we find other game to replace it.
Inevitably the same thing will happen with ACNH, even though he forces us to do everything little by little.
Luis Gustavo Sodre not with ACNH though. Animal crossing is different from all other games. When you play an animal crossing game, you’d probably play for a few years. The reason why is because there’s no end to the game. You can still talk to villagers and customize your homes and everything else.

@jvalex18 yes. If you looked at the history of the animal crossing subreddit (before NH exploded) you'd see continuous content especially since New Leaf.
Animal crossing is not a new genre lol. You can definitely tell who only plays nintendo games.
There are plenty of sims type games out there and games in general with replay value that arent even sims.
League of legends cs go hearthstone are all games that people eventually come back to.
That being said i do agree with op that the vast majority gets bored and moves on. It becomes more apparent when you look at trophies and see just how many people dont do everything in a game.
That being said though animal crossing does have a dedicated fanbase so it will never truly die but there wont be the same number of people who played it at launch.

I'm glad that they're going out with a bang.... I just don't like that they're going out.
This game has had 10 months of support, in which we've gotten 2/3 updates depending on how you count it. And many of us expected to get at least 2 years of support like Splatoon 2 did, or 2+ years like Smash is getting, but No, we're going have to wait for 5 years until the Switch 2 for any new content

but also I want more secrets. the most fun thing is like "oh, I didn't think I could go behind that wall, but there's a hidden pocket that turns transparent once i go inside, and it has a star coin!" kinda stuff in mario. if World Maker has secret exits, that's gonna make a big difference, but in general.. i want more enemy variety and interactive puzzle stuff.
Damn i'm so happy that there are still a few that instead of adding cool stuff behind a paywall they just give it to you, like some gift for buying the game, that's really sweet and atypical. Good job Nintendo

To be fair I bet a fair amount of Nintendo developers were working from home already due to the hikkikomori phenomenon so adjusting to the quarantine life wasn't that hard for them.
I mean tbh it wouldn’t surprise me if they have had this update completed and ready before the whole virus situation went down, assuming the ‘Rumors’ of 3d Mario remakes later in 2020; of which I don’t believe, are real it isn’t too far fetched, animal crossing is clearly the same, this update had to have been planned at least from launch.. whether or not they had everything 100% for animal crossing is intriguing because the game was datamined revealing unseen textstring. I wouldn’t say that I would be completely over the whole oh no, stuff will get delayed, because these are things that have been planned. Animal crossing got delayed from 2019, and Mario maker has been out for a year? I believe it’s been a year... until we see a new Nintendo game announced i will assume they have been delayed, you can disagree but that’s my opinion
I can’t wait to see what people do with this and inevitably put my levels to shame again.

This update excites me so much. I’ve always wanted to make my own worlds since the first Mario Maker. In that game, I made a bunch of Contra inspired levels, so now I can remake them all and put them into one world. This is truly amazing and I’m very excited to make these levels again!
Phantos appearing for the first time since SMB2 is a really nice little addition, imo. I wish there was a whole theme based on that game, but even just the addition of one “lost” Mario enemy from that game makes me smile.

In hindsight, I'm glad they decided to flesh out the themes we already have, instead of just adding another one. That's more gameplay options available per level. (Although I wonder if having a full SMB2 theme was the original plan.)

When I saw the World Maker I almost fell out of my chair. I've just wanted it for sooooooooooooo long.
I've been playing this game since it's release nearly daily, and, as a person that knows exactly what's in it now, I have 3 final thing that are just... Not here, that would make it perfect.
- A beach, mountain, fortress or painted and volcano theme
- A theme mixer (to combine BG, tileset and misic) and more music freedom
-pinguin suit in NSMBU and ice flower in all styles

2:02 To answer your question, the Power Balloon was indeed a power up in Super Mario World (albeit a very rare one that was used infrequently), so it makes sense that it's only being added to that gamestyle. However, based on what I can tell from the trailer, it looks like it works a bit differently from the original SNES game, and Mario looks a bit different when using it too. Great video as always!

what i reallised just now is that not only is world maker the closest we have gotten to 3D mario maker but also a 3D mario maker could bassically use the same sort of format as world build
As Arlo suggested, I do hope the ability to group collections of levels on an ordered world map will give creators a much needed sense of restraint when crafting individual levels. No more throwing shit at the wall until something sticks. Now, people might take a step back and consider whether someone wants to play through their whole gauntlet of clusterfuckery.

I would’ve paid for the World Maker content alone. This is so crazy, it re-contextualizes the whole game for me
When I got Super Mario Maker 2, I started to number my courses. Mushroom Gorge [1-1], Pirahna Caverns [1-2], etc. Now I don't have to do that, because I'll just put them in a Super World. This has definitely pushed SMM2 up my favourite Switch games list.
I am almost played 9000 courses I would have still played everyday but now im even more exited to play everyday.
Mario Maker 2 is hardly "going out". If anything it's just getting started. This game has years of life left just because they won't make more updates doesn't mean it's the end.

Splatoon 1 is still going well and it’s servers are actually pretty full. The same can be said for its sequel.

I'm pretty excited for this. I can already feel the creative juices flowing! Seven worlds, all themed after a specific Koopaling, who serves as a final area boss. Do the classic Nintendo thing but go hard fandom on it. Sounds like loads of fun to me!

I will definitely be playing this. I’m not sure for how long, but I always loved making themed levels, and this world builder is an excellent way to lump them together.

Chris Longden one of my favorite games I’ve played ever. It’s an indie platformer and it was nominated for game of the year in 2018. The physics feel fluid and satisfying so you feel like when you die it is your fault not the games. And you probably are going to die a lot because this game is challenging but you get very frequent checkpoints and respawn nearly instantaneously.
I’m an avid watcher of Mario Maker videos on CZcams (Ryukahr, DGR, etc.) even though I don’t play the game all that often myself I’m super stoked for this update because the watchability factor of the game just got that much better!
I still wish we got a dedicated SMB2 game mode, but the SMB2 mushroom does allow for more items to be used with SMB2 mechanics. It's a love, hate relationship...
It's so weird that we got both this and the Animal Crossing update trailer today! I would've expected them to be in a direct, but no! They just put them out like it's nothing... makes me even more worried about when the next direct is going to be...
We're almost in May now, so it'll probably be the E3 presentation.
This looks amazing. Only thing I see lacking is nobody's mentioned if it fixes the online multiplayer. I'm not holding my breath.

I basically streamed the game since it first came out and the way Nintendo handled the updates for SMM2 completely burned me out. If they rolled out consistent updates every couple months or during each different season, then I think there could have been a more robust experience for the community. With the minimal amount of updates that we received and the length of the wait, it just felt like I discovered a lot of the different styles of user levels sooner than I expected.
Honestly, I might play the game again a few times more. After that, I think I might be done with it. If we ever get SMM3, we NEED to have tools to create 3D Mario levels! It would be the best thing ever!
Honestly this update is a bigger jump in content than SMM2 was over the original.

They decided to release all of these individual updates at once
They have decided to quit work at SMM2 possibly until the Anniversary is over
The world editor has so much potential, with the possibility of remaking Super Mario World, which may require 2 worlds but hey! It would be awesome! 😄

I've been loving the world maker - I'm making a full game atm during lockdown and i'm seriously thinking it out, it's so fun
There may be more features they didn’t explicitly mention because they didn’t really say anything about the on/off blocks in the 3D world style
There's new tags, a friends list, you can download your uploaded courses again to the course bod but no new editor things

I just really got into making my own levels, this update is going to add so much to the one I just started working on yesterday, I'm so excited
I also just got animal crossing today so I'll be busy for a while to say the least
this updates makes me so so so happy!!! ive always wanted to create my own mario game, as a kid id draw so many mario levels. so this is really heartwarming!!
Can't wait for CeaveGaming to review all these new things!

One concern I have. The world map is called Super [Username] World. This suggests to me that each user will only get one.
It's possible you can name them, which would mean you could make more than one but we haven't seen that yet.
