Baltimore is really missing out not making this into a tourist attraction. It's very noticable from the Key Bridge. Thanks for the video...I always wanted to see more of it!
This is a great video. Thanks for the tour i'm sure the majority of the population has never seen in the inside of ft carroll. Its a shame we let our rich history decay like that.
Thanks so much for posting this. Every time i drive over the key bridge I dream of boating over to it somehow and checking it out. Kayak seems like a good way to go :)
love this video... very educational if you let the music & video guide you. This Fort has similarities to Fort Delaware Pea Patch island and Fort DuPont in Delaware City, Delaware; in design. Obviously; the sign about dogs keeps honest people out. To get all the video & still shots... did you stay a day or two???
"One problem is that the fortress is protected by the state’s Chesapeake Bay critical areas environmental laws, which make redevelopment almost impossible."
not to mention it's privetly owned by Benjamin Eisenberg and his 2 brothers Alan and Irvin so not state owned for the state to make any dessions on what to do with it
Scott K building is in disrepair, it’s more or less impossible to get to. I was out there earlier this summer. It’s so overgrown you would need a chainsaw or brush ax to reach it.

Great pics of the Key Bridge!!
Thanks for posting this.
Very cool place to explore. Surprised the masonry is still in such good condition.

Great job. Glad you completed it safely. I liked your photos too. I flew my drone out there for the first time this week.
Thank you so much for that look back into history.
This is an amazing video. Thank you very much for sharing it Pat!!
So, no guard dog? Lol
Goals. Inspiring Video :)
Definite True Detective (Fort Macomb, AKA "Carcosa") vibes here.
Sucks about the bridge collapse.
Here from the future the Baltimore bridge falls up to being hit by a ship

The dog sign was put there in the 1950s when it possibly did have guard dogs. But they have long been gone. I stayed for maybe 2 or 3 hours.

@patgavin were the yellow ropes you used to climb into the fort there already or did you bring them?
PrometheusDidIt already there. There are 3 ropes, maybe more.
How easy was it to get here?
Did you come across any wildlife besides bugs and birds there?
Nice. If you’re making these for sale, I’d be very interested!
What's the song?
Serca de que pais se encuentra
is there any electricity there at all? a well?
Nope
Old cistern that is surely dry
Hows the building in the middle of the island? Is it liveable? Or does it need to be replaced?

How hard is it to kayak to the fort? Is there a strong current?
Que animales hay en la isla
Muchas aves
Disgusting, the way this beautiful place has deteriorated.
Well, they were going to make it into a casino, I think this is better than that.
I had always heard it was infested with rats, guess that's wrong
Same here
Maybe when boats would go there b it the rat pop has probably died out
