- We explored the most beautiful place in Indiana, Seven Pillars, by kayak. We started the Kayak trip at the Dam in Peoria,IN on the Mississinewa and ended on the mighty Wabash River in Peru, IN. The trip was a little rocky (pun intended) there was some added excitement along the way along with a surprise find.
- Zábava
On that road above the pillars, there’s a small place to pull over and you can look down through a hole that is fenced off, but you can look down between a couple of the pillars.
We actually went up there. It’s at the end of the video.
My friends and I go from crawfordsville to the Wabash on Sugar Creek every year. It is about 40 miles. We do it in 3 days and 2 nights. The weekend of May 5th in remembrance of a friend who passed. There is a good-sized group of us heading out this weekend. All are invited
Thanks for the invite! I definitely want to know more information on this stretch. Can you hit me up on Instagram or Facebook? Just search “clay provines” there’s not many of us.
I finally got over there in April last year ,4/28 by my phone records. Where your friend sat in his canvas canoe was a foot above river level. There was no more than 14 inches of water at the deepest if you were to wade across from the parking area. An unusual low river for that time of year, looking back. Like many things local to me,I had put off visiting there thinking maybe later. Glad I saw it. Neat place!
The river was definitely low. We walked a lot. If possible I recommend visiting it by water the first time seeing it. It’s breathtaking seeing it as you come around the bend in the river.
I'm from peru sadly but I really enjoy paddling. Maybe we should float or do a trip sometime. Just went from Logansport to Delphi on the wabash a couple weeks ago. 27 mile trip.
we can maybe make it happen.
Its unfortunate that the towns of our reservoirs don't reflect the spirit of beauty that our forests and rivers provide!! It's sacred land here in Indiana once you weed through all the developments of society and get to the essentials of nature
Thanks, wonderful video … We visited two times some 20 years ago from WARSAW….and a lot of surrounding towns visatating! MUCH BETTER doing from River!, Anyways, we got individual* KAYAKS three years ago: after relocating to HELENA VALLEY MT.,ETC. great Stuff….appreciate the Views!. ps: We had forgotten the Sinkhole, & Peoria/ Dam, etc.. : some 69 years in the area & working Wabash,Peru, Manchester, S Whitley, Rochester Pharmacies, etc….lot of near Kayaking here in MONTANA, too.
Awesome! Thanks for watching! I’m glad you liked it.
So cool
It is unreal.
I’ve gone canoeing in Indiana before. It’s very fun. Like you I even wore trunks and a t-shirt but I wore sandals instead of sneakers. It’s quite a workout canoeing and you wonder how far you’ll go. Indiana is such a nice state. Do you plan to do it again?
It was a good paddle. I plan to make videos of other places before I go back there.
Just got into kayaking. Live in LaPorte, IN up north. Do you know of any super long all day routes?
Great vid btw!
Thanks! The Saint Joseph river is nice if you stay out of town. I haven’t kayaked it but I’ve been on stretches of it up there.
wow
It’s really cool! I’ve got other videos at cool locations too.
😊 nice…..
Thanks! I hope to go on more adventures this summer!
Just spotted my next mini jet trip
Did you watch the whole thing? It’s super shallow and rocky in places. Idk about mini jets but I definitely won’t be taking my outboard let there.
How long was that float?
It was quite the float. If I remember right, it took about eight hours but we took some breaks and had to drag the kayaks a lot. If the water is up, I could see it going a lot faster.
21:13 +/- nice size fish
You mean the “little fishies”? 😂
Just curious about logistics - Who dropped you and your Kayak upstream? Or did someone brought your ride downstream?
We took two vehicles.
Am sure the Indians were all over that place
That’s what the experts say.
That water is full of pesticides from farm runoff. Indiana has 54 superfund sites.
Don’t worry, I didn’t drink the water.
