I grew up in UK and was able to have fast food with mates whenever and not gain weight. Moved to the US and had to stop. Even the smallest stuff on the menu is designed to make you fat and addicted with all the unnecessary chemicals. Seriously, they use over 10 chemicals/ingredients just to make the pickle slices for their burgers.
I've grown up in the US, and yeah, I've been able to not be fat... I'm 5'11" 145 lbs, and yeah, I eat Panda Express like once a week (I am a college student, so I do walk like 10 miles a day)
I always ordered a large menu in McDonalds whichever country I went to, but that had to stop in the US, it was just impossible to finish. They already give you a bucket-sized cup of soda with your order, and then you can even refill those for free. So much sugar!

American here, and used to be slightly underweight while mostly eating McDonalds, Taco Bell, canned food, and prepacked frozen meals/veggies. It was what I could afford while struggling to find the time and energy to cook, so I controlled my portions and exercised every day. The calorie dense foods were really helpful as long as I tried to keep my vitamin intake up and kept a decent ratio of fast food to canned/frozen food.

You don't get fat because you're staying within the range of calories - you get fat when you repeatedly go above your recommended calorie intake. Naturally, it wouldn't mean you're healthy this way because you'll be lacking in important nutrients. But if you work around the Big Mac meal, you're not going to gain any weight. Calories and fat whilst they are connected are not directly correlated. Just because you don’t eat many calories doesn’t mean you won’t get fat it’s also about the oils and fats not just calorie intake

The difference is how many calories are needed to maintain weight, i personally need about 3000 per day but others could need only 2000 and if we both eat the same amount of calories then id gain no weight and youd gain a shit load.

I think the reason you'd still get fat and/or health problems by eating mcdonalds every day (if that's all you ate) is because even though the calories are under the daily reccomended amount, the cooking methods and ingredients are still very unhealthy. The amount of oil, saturated fat, salt, sugar etc there would be in a mcdonalds meal may be far greater than the reccomended amount which would increase the risk of high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes and more. This went on for longer than I thought, but to summarise. Calories do not equal how healthy a dish is.
For real I could eat 1200 calorie McDonald's meal and be unhealthy and gain weight. But if I'm eating 1200 calories in salads, grilled chicken, fruits etc. And I would be better off

It doesn't matter how unhealthy the dish is, so long as the calories reported are accurate, and you stay within those numbers, you won't gain weight. That being said, you'd still probably be at risk of a few dozen health issues if you followed such a diet. But at least you'd be skinny while suffering from heart disease.
