I love how most of the "cheapest families" are just well-off families in good houses choosing to do the bare minimum. At least it's better than mocking actual poverty.

@@sneer0101 They must have time to spare though because their work-arounds take so much more time. A shower with an actual showehead with good pressure will be loads quicker than the plastic bottle showerhead. The food cooked in the dishwasher and car both took at least twice (maybe four times) the amount of time it would take to use the oven. Piecing together your carpet with scraps, searching dumpsters for furniture, and searching the web for freebies all take much more time than normally buying the items would take up. They sacrifice their time to save money, and they take some amount of pride in it too, which suggests it not a neccessary evil that they have to do, but something they choose to do to be cheap instead.

tbf it does also help houses get sold in the UK. I remember when I was with a fella buying a house and the houses they staged and made look nice as opposed to the lived in ones looked so much more appealing. Its all psychology to get people to buy. Whereas I still think completely unfurnished works too. The living room having random bits in does look messy to buyers.
They often make more money added to the selling price of the house overall and make that investment back from the furniture

It does, it releases the plasticisers back into the water (in variable amounts depending on many factors). That's why you shouldn't really reuse disposable bottles more than once or twice.
