My fathers was diagnosed with fatty liver. The doctor told him it would lead to cirrhosis of the liver and ultimately death. My father thought this was his death sentence. The doctor did not give him any hope. He told me his diagnosis, he moved in with me and ate what I ate for 3 months ( lots of meat, some veg, some fruit, no alcohol or processed foods) and I might add he loved it and didn’t feel deprived at all! My GP has been "watching" my fatty liver for 10 years, with no suggestions over all that time how to deal with it. We were just "keeping an eye on it". It was my dermatologist at a regular skin check that suggested keto, as we just happened to get onto the subject one day. He said "do you want me to fix your fatty liver?", Cue the keto conversation, and away I went. The turn of events is just stunning, though sadly not surprising.

Starting keto today! Have a fatty liver and then some: 51 inch waist. Will report back in three days.
UPDATE: Day 3 of OMAD Keto complete and here are the results. Starting weight 261.6, Weight today 255.8, Weight Loss 5.8 pounds. Starting BMI 34.5, BMI now 33.7. Waist measurement now 49.5 inches.
I'll provide another update when day 10 is complete. Pretty encouraging so far, I must say.
UPDATE DAY 10: weight 254.2; waist 49.25; BMI 33.5. Total weight loss is 7.4 pounds or 3.36 kg. The average weight loss in the study at day 10 was 3 kg so this is pretty much spot-on esp. since I have a higher BMI than any of the participants (highest initial BMI in the study was 32; mine was 34.5).
I note that the study didn't follow an OMAD protocol, which is good because although that's what I aim for I sometimes had small low-carb snacks in the evening. I have no problem not eating before dinner -- in fact I'm not even hungry --- but after dinner I often feel like having something. I could fix that by eating more at dinner, but I think it's probably better for insulin response to have a modest meal and a snack later rather than a huge meal.
I'll provide another update when day 17 is complete.
Day 17 complete (last 7 days) 257.4 waist 49.5 inches so a 3.2 pound gain of a week off the requirement to eat keto (the participants in the study could eat whatever they liked after day 10). The most their's changed from day 10 was 2 pounds (plus or minus).
I'm going to go back to keto and try to stick to OMAD.

This is such great news to me as I have had FLD for 20+ years. I’ve watched you other FLD videos and am so encouraged by the information you’ve provided. Thank you for educating us to bettering our health through our diets. I’ve just started Keto and staying under 20g of carbs a day. I’m looking forward to my next liver ultrasound order and will share this video with my doctors so she might order an MRI for me. I truly appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us so freely. Ask your friends: Do you think all those comments are fake? Do you think all those comments are made by people lying to themselves? Many report that after taking multiple medications for years, that they've been able to reduce the dosage or even eliminate the meds altogether. Does that sound like a bad thing? Some of the comments are from recovering vegans.

YES, you can maintain your weight going low carb by eating good natural foods, adding a spoon of peanut butter with a small glass of whole milk every night is an example of what you can do. Despite what some say you can gain weight being low carb but it’s much much easier to control when you don’t have carb cravings to deal with. I lost 85 pounds but my wife said I looked very ill so I gained 20 back. Now I’m 5’9”, 205 with beautiful bloodwork, cardiovascular health is off the chart and I look healthy. @@ellanola6284 Thank you for your comment . I have been around the block a few times and have a certain cynicism about human nature . However, in this matter I kind of disagree with you . There are always going to be the type of people , just as you get people going to A&E for the most non life threatening reasons .
Personally, I think there are lots and lots of people who want to overcome their weight problems for eg by the type of will power driven diets as expounded by the big weight loss companies. Despite the consistent failure they get up from the mat and go again in their millions .
In the early stages when people get the diseases related to insulin resistance then I think they are happy to take the pills . However , when they are further down the line and are sicker , probably more obese because they have been advised wrongly , and suffering all sorts of inflammatory problems no longer helped by pain relief , then I believe many people will be prepared to do the hard miles . They only need a bit of positive reinforcement to continue there own low carb journey .
18 months ago I gave up bread for Lent . It was part of my low carb journey but I only intended to do it for Lent as I thought it would be impossible to give up Bread totally . Within a week my chronic sinus / Nasal congestion problem cleared up . This had dogged me most of my life and I had been hospitalised twice with impacted/ infected sinuses. It was a revelation to be able to breathe easily through my nose . It was so encouraging that I have barely eaten any wheat since , and have no desire to eat bread . As a pleasant side effect I noticed that some stubborn abdominal fat was disappearing even though I was probably eating more calories as I was eating a lot of cheese to fill a bread shaped hole .
Sorry this is a long reply to your short statement .
Why won't keto die ? Because it works !
Incidentally another rewarding experience I had was with time restricted eating .
I was never a big breakfast type of person - maybe because I used to eat late . I had a habit of getting a sandwich at work at about 11. During Covid that shop shut although I had to carry on working . So I got into the habit of not eating till about 1 when I had my lunch break . That window started to have a positive effect on me which reinforced the message I was getting from Dr Berry and Dr Fung amongst others. I noticed that clothes began to fit easier and people were saying how well I was looking . That spurred me further on my low carb journey.
This was after years on a wholegrain mainly plant based diet that was just making me fatter and sicker despite the fact I was exercising regularly and vigorously . In that era I would have happily taken a magic pill. In the end I found one - IF and low carb 👍.

I've lost 9lbs in 5 days in on a carnivore diet. A bit bonkers. eating only animal based foods (eggs, chicken, beef, pork, bit of milk, butter, cheese, fish...). My blood pressure is coming down too. Easiest diet ever. No calorie counting, measuring, no faffing about keeping track of what you've eaten. Eat when hungry till your full. Extreme Keto/Ketovore, whatever. Don't over think, give it a go for a week and see how you go. And the great news is the study that Dr Berry reports on, no idea if I had FLD, most probably as I was drinking way too much and eating way too many carbs, but good news if I did.

Slice beef thin or score the beef, add a little sour citric juice, and let marinate for 10 to 15 minutes. The sour citric acid can be lime, sour orange, or lemon juice. Thank you for all your hard work, and your willingness to share. --
I have a question. --How long can a person go on one or two food sources? Example: Grass Fed and Finished Beef Liver, and Organic eggs, I am on day 4 this time, could I be causing myself any issues by not changing this up? I went Carnivore, then Carnivore-ish, now back to Carnivore. I cook up the liver eat some that night, then use about 3 to 4 oz chopped up mixed in with two or three scrambled eggs often for every meal. I find I am getting hungry more often, and wanting carbs.
People in my area will not eat liver, "most of them" so it is a lower price. The eggs are expensive though, "for eggs that is". I am working an hourly job, but the number of hours per week are sometimes very low. Plus my hours are all over the place, late in the day, early; sometimes they can really mess with my schedule.

My mom was told that she had fatty liver via mri. They never told her how to do anything about it. She wasn't overweight & didn't drink at all. She died in 2019 of undiagnosed liver failure at 61. I say undiagnosed because despite being in and out of the hospital for 2 years, having ammoni levels so high that you would have thought she had dementia (that's why she was in & out of the hospital), and being put on meds at home to lower those levels, she was never diagnosed with any kind of liver failure or disease. The fatty liver diagnosis happened 8 or so years before. It is what killed her because she agreed to go to a rehab to build up the strength she lost over the previous 2 years. Her behavior went wonky again 3 days later and they outright refused to transfer her back to the hospital. By the time they finally did she was fried. She couldn't speak. She could barely even move anything & passed 2 days later.

She was diagnosed with fatty liver disease u said. So it wasn’t undiagnosed liver disease. She died of liver failure due to the diagnosed disease.
I have no idea what they CLAIM her cause of death was, but it was caused by her untreated fatty liver.

If ur omad, go EOD, that is- eat every 48 hrs, not every 24. The fasting is what heals. Take quality magnesium at night and quality salt with ur water. Use cream of tartar for potassium too. There are electrolyte drinks you can make up or buy Dr Boz’s or others’. ZERO sugar, monkfruit stevia splenda erythritol for sweetener.
Watch Dr Jason Fung. Dr Berg and Dr Eckberg also use fasting as key to healing.
And be PATIENT. You may have to keep at it literally months before you see fat loss. And it may stay sloooow loss till u heal enough-again months. Ur in for the long haul, not get into a dress for a wedding or a bathing suit for a cruise. Your whole rest of life will need to be very careful with what and when u eat.

After finding out that I had a fatty liver, I cut out all sugar and carbs last sept and had blood work done in Oct with my fatty liver numbers all still up so I did a 25 day water only fast then went back to IF but got covid in Jan and started craving carbs big time so did end up taking in some sugar and carbs that seemed to be the only thing to get me through the day after the covid I went back to IF and clean eating and had blood work done again Feb with all my numbers going done more then half except one which I think sadly is from me still smoking so need to work on that. The nurse practitioner couldn't believe the change in my numbers but thankfully I took my own advice and didn't follow the plan they had laid out for me.
