Hello and Welcome to Korky Toilet Repair
Today we will show you how to install all Styles of Korky StrongARM Universal tank levers
If you have a Mansfield brand toilet with a tower flush valve, see the instructions later in the video
We’ll start by detaching the chain from the lever arm and removing your old lever.
Remove the hook and the two red locking clips and set them aside for later.
    Separate the elbow and arm.
    Then remove the mounting nut.
The mounting nut is reverse threaded, right for loose, left for tight
The handle can be mounted in various ways: angled mount, front mount, side mount, and right handed mount.
Insert the handle assembly into the tank hole and secure the nut on the inside of the tank
If you prefer, the handle can be mounted vertically.
Attach the elbow at the angle shown.
Position the arm parallel to the front of the tank then attach the lever arm to the elbow.
    Insert the locking clips
The clips can be installed on either side.
Remove the current hook from your chain and use the provided hook to clip the chain to the lever with minimal slack
Do not pull the lever arm down to attach the chain.
You may need to cut the excess chain.
If the chain is short of your lever arm try adjusting the elbow’s angle like this.
Replace the lid & flush your toilet to make sure the toilet bowl clears properly.
The lever should not touch any other parts in your toilet tank. If your lever arm is hitting the lid adjust the elbow angle
This section is for Mansfield Tower flush valves only:
Twist off the valve top of your Mansfield flush valve
Unhook and remove your old lever.
Remove the hook and the top red locking clip, set aside for later.
Remove the elbow and arm and the mounting nut.
Insert the handle assembly into the tank hole and secure the mounting nut on the inside of the tank.
    Reattach the valve top
Without lifting the flush tower thread the arm through the valve and attach the lever arm to the handle assembly
    Insert the locking clip
If your lever doesn’t reach it may require a chain.
You can purchase a chain or call us for a free chain at 1 800 528 3553
Use pliers to clamp the open link of the chain to the flush tower
With your chain attached, follow the instructions from the beginning of the video
Congratulations, you have successfully installed your new Korky StrongARM Universal tank lever.
    Thank you for choosing Korky.

My first flush lever install. Thank goodness for this video. I did have to angle the arm down more so it wouldn't hit the lid yet that was super easy with removing the clip and adjusting. It seems my old arms would rust or break and look forward to this heavy-duty plastic lasting a long time. One suggestion for peeps is to get the clip onto the chain with little slack (kind of eye it up to the arm) and remove arm & attach the clip to it, then reattach the arm; otherwise, it's hard to see where you are clipping (at least for me it was). One con that I can imagine is people buying a new lever cuz their chain broke and they just wanted an updated lever - this doesn't come with a chain, which should be mandatory and I'm sure very inexpensive for the manufacturer to include, even if they had to raise their price 10 cents.

Installed into my Mansfield standard that had the plastic loop on the flushing mechanism break. After I clipped the broken peice off, I was able to easily install this flush lever and handle. Easy to adjust to where you need it to adjust. I don't know why so many people are having problems with it. Easily the best handle I have found, and it was a quick way to swap out the crime for oil rubbed bronze to match my other new fixtures. Thanks for a great product and video.

I have American Standard curved tank and could not find a handle that would work right. Every time flushed the locking bolt would loosen and handle would come lose which meant time to remove lid and tighten again. It finally broke and after watching videos saw this worked on curved tanks so bought it and now happy. The arm is plastic but the handle is white metal which i was not expecting but very much appreciated, shows it will last and nice looking handle at that. When any other part needs replacement i will definitely use Korky products.

      @KorkyToiletRepair  Před 2 lety

@@kinglord5429 Great question! There are a wide variety of toilet flappers available: some that are adjustable and others that are not. Most of the non-adjustable flappers are designed for 3.5+ gallon per flush toilets. They float for a longer time allowing for more water to flush. For the adjustable flappers, they are designed to flush different amounts of water by adjusting the buoyancy of the flapper to match the toilets original performance. In other words, by adjusting the flapper, you can control how much or how little water is flushed. Some adjustable flappers have a cone with a variety of settings, while others like the float style you described, allow for the float to be moved up or down to adjust the amount of water is flushed by changing the flapper's buoyancy.

Please stop advertising that this product works as a side mount. I have it installed correctly, but it works only if you are willing to hold the flush handle down long enough for the flapper to rise. As others have commented, the arm doesn't raise enough to raise the flapper with a simple push of the handle, as it should. Very aggravating.

Have you ever try to install it on a side mount toilet? It doesn't give you enough leverage to flush anything, because of the bad design to fit all. It lift the arm where you push to flush it not at the end where it should. At that end it just twisted it, which does not lift the cork. And the little plastic clip broke right away when I was trying to place it back. So much for engineer for strength!

I bought this today because it said it fits Mansfield on the package. It says nothing about needing a chain on the outside of the package or if it does it's in real small letters somewhere hidden and for $15 at Lowe's it should include one! I'm glad I bought the standard replacement handle for Mansfield just for this really stupid issue.
Needless to say, I am returning this product tomorrow because they don't even care enough to include a cheap chain so I can use this product but instead they make you call and they will send you a free chain so you can flush your toilet maybe days or weeks later.

    • @KorkyToiletRepair
      @KorkyToiletRepair  Před 5 lety +2

Let us help to get your tank lever adjusted so you no longer have to hold it down for a complete flush. Let's start by reviewing adjusting the angle of the tank lever so that it has more room to flush. If you pull out the red clip, closest to the locking nut, we can angle the tank lever arm down towards the flapper. This will give the tank lever arm more room for lift in your tank, and prevent you from having to hold it down while flushing. Next, please ensure that the flapper chain is taught, with minimal slack, and connected to the tank lever arm hole most directly above the flapper. If neither of those tweaks help, or you would prefer to work through the installation over the phone, don't hesitate to contact us. Please dial 1-800-528-3553 or email us at sales@lavelle.com. We are available Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM CST. Your tank lever is backed by a 5 year warranty and we want to ensure your 100% satisfaction.

I have a Glacier Bay Toilet with side mount lever. The toilet is insulated (Styrofoam). When I tried to install this lever the curved part rubs against the styrofoam. That part is above the water obviously so I guess I could cut away a few mm of the sytrofoam but I'm hesitant to do that. Any other suggestions or should I return? Thanks.

Are you able to shave down the insulation a bit to allow the lever elbow to rotate freely, without completely removing? Very impressed with the quality of this unit....maybe because it's MADE IN THE USA?? This will be our first "spring loaded" flush handle. The paper instructions were okay and the video good, yet the packaging says "Fits Kohler,............and all other toilets". After repeated tries, there's no way I could get this unit to work on our Eljer 1.6 gallon toilet due to the arm hitting the toilet lid. Maybe another model would have worked, but for now we decided to just fix the old handle and get back to flushing. Oh well, at least I got in store credit back from Menards.

Had less than six months and the mechanism that the arm clips to the lever near the flushing handle failed- 5 year warranty yet no phone number or online way to get support for a warranty claim - they make you write an old school letter in the mail - I foresee a month long turnaround for a replacement- no wonder they have a “5 year warranty”

Just installed one today into a Mansfield tank.
Problem is, the handle assembly doesn't want to tighten up all the way. This leaves a bit of a wiggle to the handle.
Seems like it needs a larger square to properly fit the hole in the tank, or some type of washer/grommet on the outside between the handle and the tank.
    Any suggestions?

@@kmutt5233 - No. I ended up buying a Mansfield lever in Brushed Nickel off of Ebay. Which fits perfectly.
Also, the toilet seat lid hits the Korky handle. Mansfield handles are shaped to allow the lid to go all the way back against the tank.
It is more expensive than the Korky, but well worth the cost.

Bought this today for my Mansfield toilet and it doesn't work without the chain as the handle has a spring action that pushes the Mansfield plunger valve down to fast. So back to the store for me. If you havea newer Mansfield toilet do not buy or get a chain as an alternative connection.

I installed the StrongARM tank lever as described in the video, but it doesn’t seem to have enough travel (in the handle) to lift the flapper sufficiently...we have to hold the handle in the flush position for about 5 seconds, then let go in order to get a normal flush...can the travel be adjusted (lengthened) to lift the flapper higher?

    • @KorkyToiletRepair
      @KorkyToiletRepair  Před 6 lety +2

Thanks for your comment and for choosing Korky. If neither of those tweaks help, or you would prefer to work through the installation over the phone, don't hesitate to call us. Please dial 1-800-528-3553 or email us at sales@lavelle.com. We are available Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM CST. Your tank lever is backed by a 5 year warranty and we want to ensure your 100% satisfaction.

I got it done in seconds, however, the arm is hitting top of lid! Even on the shortest setting. So should we shorten the chain? I've fixed many a toilets in this 100 yr old house. Lived here since 86 and have replaced the toilet 3x. Seems like our toilet is always f#@king up in some way. When I've shorten the chain before we don't get a full flush...so what to do? I'm so over this crap...really over not having the modern full flushing convince of having a REAL FLUSHABLE TOILET! IT'S 2020, ALMOST 2021, WTF?

I bought this today at Lowe’s because I could put it anywhere, we decided to get rid of our old, rusted lever. We thought it would work out well, but it couldn’t even flush without hitting the lid of the toilet, at this point, the lever is stuck in there, we were also trying to fix the flapper valve as it would leak. We kind of wished we never bought it, but for now, we,ve found a way for it to work. When we get that lever out, we are gonna refund it

  • @1DeeThunder

Frustrated, easy installation yes but continues to hit the lid. If anything the handle chooses to require much force leading it to be slanted at a 60 degree angle to flush a Mansfield toilet. The chain is short and even deciding to put it through the towers little thing slips off.

Nope didn't work for us. We have an old side handle and this does not fit into the toilet well enough to rotate and generate enough lift to keep the flapper up. The arm hits the front wall of the tank before hitting the critical point. It does seems to be good quality product for other configurations.
