    Greetings from India.
I'm an Indian classical flautist and I play The Bamboo flute or the Bansuri. I had some issues with dynamics and lower octave notes. Your insight has given me an instant understanding and I'm very happy that my problems are solved. Thank you very much :)

I notice bansuri players use raising and lowering the head a lot to change the tuning up or down. This is not encouraged on the western flute. We use the lips and jaw and even rolling the flute slightly in and out for fff and ppp. (v loud and v soft) In will lower, while out will sharpen, though it will compromise tone quality. Better to play in tune though. Also different vowel sounds. Oooh will raise and aaah will lower.... Thanks

Haha love the facial expressions. I don't play flute but i need to know about it for learning composition/orchestration, and this helps a lot with keeping it realistic with dynamics and the amount of breath a player can manage :D

I play the clarinet and am learning the flute. It is much more difficult for me than the clarinet.

Haley Anderson I was wondering the same thing but one thing I try is tightening my stomach and it makes the sound a bit softer and relaxed while giving me an abs workout

i love your video. thank you for sharing this. i have a question for you.. how about fortessimo at low register, because my low register is always flat, and if I have to fortessimo,I have to use warm and relax lips it makes more flat.. 😢

Thank you! In regards to your question, I talk about this a lot in my video titled "3 steps to getting stronger louder low notes on the flute". I demonstrate how I can get strong and loud low notes in tune on my flute. Hopefully this helps you some here's the video :): czcams.com/video/DmZlztub4tM/video.html/
