    Mater is voiced by Larry the Cable Guy, a famous comedian most well known for the Blue Collar Comedy tour with Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White and Bill Engvall. He's from the deep South and he really does talk like that, it's not a voice that's just for the movie, so the incorrect grammar and lingo is on purpose and just a natural facet of the way he speaks.

    Doc did Lightning a favor by calling the press to come find him.
    Lightning had been looking forward to racing his entire life and would have regretted it forever if he missed the race (regrets anyone?).
    He can always come back if he wants, but he would never get the chance to be the first rookie to win again.

    • @jowbloe3673
      @jowbloe3673 Před 2 lety +3

      @@ethancasem8259 - Lightning clearly was *NOT* ready to slow down in his life.
      If he was, he wouldn't have continued racing, but he did set up his racing headquarters in Radiator Springs to have the best of both worlds, racing and friends, and Sally.
      Doc gave him the option to decide for himself, and not spend the rest of his life regretting missing the race and forever wondering, what if.
      Many (most, all?) have that "what if" regret, but not Lightning thanks to Doc.

    Joe Ranft was a story board artist, storyman and animator who first worked at Disney doing Oliver & Company, The Little Mermaid, The Rescuers Down Under, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, as well as working through Hyperion on The Brave Little Toaster and The Nightmare Before Christmas, before jumping to Pixar where he did storyboards for the first Toy Story films, A Bug's Life, Mosters, Inc. and Finding Nemo. In addition to Lenny the Binochulars, Heimlich and Wheezy, he voiced Igor in The Nightmare Before Christmas, Elmo St. Peters and the Clown in The Brave Little Toaster, Pete "Claws" Ward in Monsters, Inc., Jacques the Cleaning Shrimp in Finding Nemo and Red and Peterbilt in this movie. This movie is dedicated to him as he sadly died in a car crash in 2005, in the middle of production (he co-directed it along with John Lasseter).

    Sadly, this film marks the end for one Pixar crewman: Joe Ranft.
    His voice roles included Heimlich the Caterpillar of Bug’s Life, Lenny the wind-up Binoculars and Wheezy of Toy Story, and Jacques the Shrimp of Finding Nemo.
    He didn’t live to see Cars completed after working on it with director John Lasseter. If only Joe was still around, he’d have helped out more with the storyboard department with other future Pixar films had he lived. An ironic fate that he died in a car accident in 2005. The last thing he saw as an idea which later became a movie without him? Wall-E.

  • @Antonio88870
    @Antonio88870 Před rokem +4

    Joe Ranft was one of Pixar's main names, being an animator, storyboard artist, producer, screenwriter and voice actor, making part not only on the creative process behind every Pixar movie until Cars but also being the voice actor to a few minor characters on the movies and also co-directing Cars before passing during the production of it. Being an member of Pixar's foundation and having such a big role behind every movie, I just wonder what he could have brought to Pixar through the following years if it wasn't for his death, but his legacy keep going at Pixar through his brother, working as a voice actor and character sculptor, creating the characters in clay during the development of every movie they make.

    This movie is a great love letter for those small towns that used to be in roads before the huge Interstate highways. Those towns who now hardly have more than 200 people living in, that were popular stopping points for drivers got absolutely forgotten after the highways were built to save time. Most of the inhabitants of those towns wanted to leave to have better life conditions, since the tourists' money was their breadwinner, but they also had the dilemma of having to leave their lives and heart home forever, so they just stay there, hoping costumers come to make their current life worth living.

    really like this movie tbh and all your reactions!! one giant recommendation for you: "Watership down" its an animated 1978 film scarred me for life as an 8 yr old child! think you'd have a great reaction for it! :) Keep it up!

      Love *Watership Down!* The cartoon from 1978 is my preferred version. The BBC TV miniseries from 2018 was good, but changed some significant parts for the worse.

    Not a bad way to end an illustrious career for Paul Newman (the voice of Doc Hudson). He sadly died of cancer in 2008.

    Whatever you do, don't watch the second movie. If you thought Mater was annoying in this film, you'll find him even more annoying in the second movie. Besides, I don't think it's necessary to watch the second movie to get the context of the 3rd film so I'd like to say Cars 3 really feels like the true follow up sequel. It's really nice to see someone who has very little knowledge about this movie that they see it's actually good for a film with a world filled with nothing but vehicles. I thought critics were way too harsh on this movie when it first came out and I honestly don't see how a movie in a world with cars could have been any better than this. I enjoyed watching your reaction for this film. =]

    Since Harv is voiced by Jeremy Piven in the U.S. and Jeremy Clarkson in the U.K., some of his lines are different in the different versions (although the DVD and Blu-ray subtitles in the U.K. still show the lines in the U.S.). So hearing the us version is new to me I love both version but uk one will have a special place in my heart❤
