@@megdelany5688 I don’t know
When Alex goes "savage", what you have to remember is that he's a LION who hasn't eaten for a couple days. He's thinking with his stomach, so his more primal side is coming out. He calms down at the end, because the penguins give him some fish. He can't exist on fruit and seaweed like the others.
Yeah, that’s something a teacher of mine explained when we watched it in elementary school. Gloria is an omnivore, but mostly can survive off fruit and seaweed if she has to. Melman and Marty are both herbivores and cannot digest meat at all, so they didn’t have Alex’s problem. Our teacher actually told us, "everything green you see? Marty, Melman and Gloria can eat that. They’re set for life." But he told us Alex literally couldn’t digest anything they could eat, which I don’t know how correct that is, but it was a fascinating day in class.
@RedAdmrl Thanks for the heads up. I plan on getting a cat one day. And turtles.
It’s really not accurate to real life at all though. Like, real life omnivores do need meat eventually and can’t survive off just vegetation if they don’t want to get symptoms of malnourishment. They don’t have meat substitutes. And most herbivores, especially mammals, actually can digest meat, they just don’t actively seek it out like predators. Though they are more likely to bite at smaller creatures if they aren’t getting enough of a vitamin- there’s real life pictures of stuff like cows in pastures eating snakes and stuff. Don’t take this as any kind of real life advice for pets.
They didn’t kill the people, it was a plane crash - it’s a famous jungle movie troupe having a dead parachuter stuck in a tree. ‘The wild’ is just.. wilderness.
Lord of the Flies type beat
I always loved the "Wonderful World" segment as not only does it reflect the original meaning of the song, people from different backgrounds coming together, but it's a perfect juxtaposition to what's going on. The Zoo Animals, much like many children in the audience, view the wild as some harmonious environment in reality it is a grueling survival of the fittest situation. As Alex is forced into isolation in order to keep his carniverous nature from eating his friends; Marty, Gloria, and Melman learn about predation and the true nature of the world is not so wonderful after all.
Me too. Because, every time I get depressed from my past.
26:21+26:22+26:23+26:24+26:25
Gloria is actually the only one who isn’t literally prey- she could vibe check Alex even if he was starving.
Omg youre so right. What they shouldve used for that scene was 'mad world' by Gary Jules
This is honestly one of the funniest dreamworks movies. The dialogue is so snappy and hilarious.
During the scene where Alex and Marty run in slow motion, when Marty starts to run away, he exclaims "Oh, SUGAR HONEY ICED TEA!!!" Excluding "Oh", if you take the first letter of each word, you'll see what he was really trying to say.
Haha, yeah, took me a while to figure that out.😂
I love Madagascar! It’s one of the funniest animated films I’ve seen. The characters, the VA’s behind them, the story, and the addition of this film’s version of “I Like To Move It” is one of my jams that I love to listen on repeat. Thanks for the reaction, Nick!
I was very happy when it came out, because I'm born in Madagascar. I live in France due to my adoption but we had to come back on the island for my sisters' adoption
Me too.
Same here it was one of my favorite animated franchises and it still is!
Hands down the penguins are my favorite part of this series. They got so popular that they not only got their own movie later, but also a cartoon on Nickelodeon!
Keep in mind, a lot of animals age differently than humans. It's like when people say, "dog years". So, for a zebra, they up to 20 years, 40 is they're lucky. So, 10 years is pretty big in Marty's case.
Good to know.
And Alex won’t get to 20 like most zoo cats because in the wild lions and most cats barely make it to 14.
This may sound weird, but for the last year, I've been on a reaction kick. It doesn't matter how many times I've seen a movie or show, I love seeing reactions to it.
That's the point of reactions to me! For example - I've seen Madagascar 2 at least 20 times when I was a kid, just because DVD's were common and I re-watched the same movie everyday. But I still enjoy seeing other people reacting to movies I've seen, just to see what it's like to experience it for the first time
I have a weird thing where I don’t usually rewatch movies that much. But reactors? I can watch 5 different of the same movie in a row.
@@Loofwoof same!!
Same!!
I got into the reactors during 2020 after resisting for years before but now I’m loving watching the reactors. Especially favorite films or tv shows even though I’ve seen them a thousand times seeing someone new entering into a tv show I’ve loved for years or a movie that most haven’t seen creates a happy feeling inside.
Him just loosing it laughing at the grandma has me wheezing! XDDDD
Just wait till the sequel. XD
@@fightingfaerie even funnier and better 😂
In this movie Mort is very adorable but in All Hail King Julien Mort is anything BUT cute. Yes, King Julien has his own TV Series it's a bizarre rabbithole.
@Judas Iscariot No, I found the TV series first back in 2017 on Netflix and watched all episodes. But I did watch the theorizer last year though. That's when I realized watching said video that Mort is not so cute and that show is something.
@Judas Iscariot it’s not just The Theorizer. I mean there are a few scenes in the series, that shows that Mort isn’t as innocent as he appears.
There's also the show The Penguins of Madagascar where Mort can be quite creepy
The part where the P in the “HELP” rescue beacon becomes a L, spelling “HELL” has always made me laugh, even as a child. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
MADAGASCAR really turned a corner for animated CGI films. Where most previous CGI films were really about good writing with "semi-realistic detailing", MADAGASCAR really stylized a very "Looney Tunes" style of physical comedy only really seen in hand-drawn animation (especially with the speed; this is true rapid-fire slapstick)
I love that they included actual ASL in this movie, I first noticed it now that I know most of it myself. Even though Phil's friend explained it out of order and/or too fast to finish it at the same time as he did, the hand gestures were still correct. Probs to that, Madagascar👏
Also, love your reactions😊👍
Definitely one of my favorite childhood movies from Dreamworks despite being having a very simple storyline about sheltered animals being released into wildlife. I especially love the characters in this franchise and the actors playing them are very distinctive but are extremely in their roles.
I liked the combination of bufanada and the central story, in particular the conflicts between the protagonists.
We all remember how cartoony Madagascar is that we need Nick to remind us how emotional some of it can be at times.
“He has a chain?” “That’s a lot of locks.”
Cartoon logic. This is heavy on the cartoon side where, like Roger Rabbit explained, almost anything is possible as long as it benefits the joke.
1. The Wild is a title for anywhere wild animals live and where there aren't many humans like Antarctica or The Jungle. (I think.)
2. Fossa is a real animal
Yeah or like a safari where humans can’t hunt like In kenya or tanzania where lions, hippos, zebras and giraffes suppose to live (I don’t know why the penguins were send though 😂)
@@shirareinhold7578
There are actually some penguins that DO live in Africa. I think they all live in South Africa tho...
i swear sometimes Nick sounds like a kid XD
Though I learned Madagascar pronounces Fossa wrong. It’s Fah-sah
@@shirareinhold7578 they’re probably too stupid to ship 🐧 to Africa, instead of Antarctica.
I’m so happy you are reviewing the Madagascar franchise. Keep doing kids films awesomely.
I remember watching this in the theater with my dad as a kid. He loved King Julian’s song, I like to move it😂

Havent seen the movie yet but wanna support your boi nicholas the movie watcher. So i’ll leave a like

Looking back on this film there are 2 things which still make me burst out laughing for
goodness knows: Mort getting scared by Alex and the line:
*Well this sucks.* 🤣
Such a 2000’s kid childhood classic! On my own terms I love your reactions and no matter the movie I do watch the videos and like them even if I haven’t seen it before because then it’s a first watch for me too!
Me too.
Since part of my childhood was only movies (my mother got rid of cable for a few years). This is one of childhood favorites, it is so funny, and my favorite characters were King Julien and the penguins. Thank You Nickflix!
I have a lemur catta stuffed animal in my room (the lemur like King Julian). I'm born in Madagascar but I grew up in France
YES! Childhood movie, I used to watch this movie a lot as a kid, amazing franchise, the 3rd one ppl has divided opnions but is great as well, AND the PENGUINS HAVE THEIR OWN MOVIE TOO
I actually prefer the the 3rd one to the 2nd one.
The Penguins of Madagascar Movie SERIOUSLY does not have enough REACTIONS on YT!!!
LOL! Beaver! In "Madagascar"!
They r called "Lemurs".
That’s my childhood right here!!! Absolutely love Chris Rock as Marty!!!
That time Dreamworks got high for a while.
38:24 "How did they not notice that?"
"How long is this going to take?!"
I love this part!
One of my favourite childhood movies 🦁🦓🦛🦒🇦🇪
Same.
🐧🐧🐧🐧
I loved this movie so much as a kid. It was one of my favourites. I used to set up boxes and stuffed animals and pretend it was the gang's kids at the zoo and other places.
Me, I always had a lemur catta stuffed animal (the lemur like the king) in my room and I always have it because I'm born in Madagascar
I’d like to point out with the presents Marty got- it makes sense because Alex is the most popular attraction at the zoo, so he would easily be able to grab something from the merch. They can’t exactly just go up to the zookeepers and be like “sup dawg, it’s Marty’s birthday can you guys make him a present for me?” Alex was trying and I don’t think Marty minded that at all. He was just bored of every day being the same.
Also, I’m so happy you’re reacting to Madagascar! I absolutely love the first two and still can’t get enough of them.
Now that's a big surprise, I was wondering if no one suggest this film. I hope that you watch 2 and 3 too eventually
Oh this movie is so funny! I don't know if someone already said it but the scene where the lemurs point to the skeleton of a person is not because they killed him. It's a reference to the book/movie 'Lord of the Flies' in which a group of kids are stranded alone on a desert island and they find the dead body of an adult who got caught in his parachute just like in this movie
Same with the 'Planet o the Apes' reference when Alex yells 'You maniac!' while he watches his sculpture of the statue of liberty set on fire
Great reaction, love to hear your laugh :DD
Oh yeah, I forgot about the Planet of the Apes reference! 😄🤣
There is also a monkey-related reference at 43:08 the three lemurs behind Mort are a reference to the three wise monkeys 😁
They also made a spinoff to the Madagascar series called "Penguins of Madagascar" which I think you'll enjoy after finishing all 3
Fun fact: when the lemurs are freaking out about the fossa attacking in the plane, one of them shows a cookbook saying "to serve lemurs", if you look closely, the cookbook is shaped like the Death Note.
Oh my gosh yes ! I’ve been waiting so long for this since Madagascar is one of my favorite franchises and you’re one of my fave youtubers ever! This truly made my day!
I hope you do react to the others and also the spin off Penguins movie!! ❤️❤️
Keep being awesome Nick! 💛
I'm sorry, but that part gets me everytime! 😹😆😂🤣 44:19
About your reaction to Winnie the Pooh, it's ok If you didn't like Pooh or feel confused with the story. I was just surprised because Pooh is one of the most innocent things in the world. To have an idea, the film is based on the book about based on the real life Christopher Robin's stories about him playing and having little adventures with his plushie friends (the only ones that are not plushies are Rabbit, Owl and Gopher). If you search a little, the plushies where the characters are based on are still very preserved in a museum if I remember.
So think that those little stories in the film is just about the little kid playing with his imaginary friends in that enchanted woods. I really do hope you react to the other Pooh's films eventually, because the Tigger movie and Pooh's Grand Adventure - The Search for Christopher Robin are one of my biggest favorite disney films.
"Mort is the cutest, he's so CUTE!"
Ahkj fans: 😑
I love when you watch funny movies, your laugh is so cute
I was obsessed with the computer and Playstation 2 game for Madagascar! I hope you enjoy the trilogy! I went to see the third one in theaters a couple times. Great reaction as always and Aloha from Hawaii! 🌺❤
Thanks Jaymie!! Glad you enjoyed it.
Oh wow. I thought I was the only one who played the game. It's actually very good. Sadly, although the sequels were popular, I wasn't a huge fan of them 😕
@@lulystalgianature2968 I was so obsessed that we got 2 copies so that when my sister and I took turns on the PlayStation 2, I could still play on the computer lol

EYYYY WHAT A SURPRISE!!!! HEY NICKY!
Hello!!
You trust characters so much and it's so wholesome. It makes twists and reveals so much more impactful for you and I envy you for that. I feel like I almost never get surprised by "betrayal" tropes or anything like that and I feel like more media would be entertaining if I watched things like you.
I remember seeing Madagascar in theaters, then saw the other two movies at home. I assure you, 2 and 3 get better and better as you continue.
Trust me, Nick. You are in for something phenomenal with this trilogy. :)
This man’s excitement is infectious just seeing his face in the thumbnails immediately makes me happy
When marty hides an adult word when alex chases him also lol crabs on the hippo
I was 6 when this movie came out in 2005 and I saw it for the first time at my cousins' house, I loved it and wanted to watch it every day. It's still one of my childhood favorites, thanks Nick
Hiii Nick!! I've been following your videos for a while, and I really love them. You are one of the most sincere people I've ever seen reacting to movies, that's the difference I appreciate most about you. Thank you for always bringing us content. :))
Taking advantage of the comment, it would be interesting to know your gaming experience!! Your reactions are so good, I wonder what it would be like if you made room for gameplays too. Mainly from games where your choices matter. I hope other people on your channel also like the idea or have already thought about the possibility.
Hugs.
This entire series is hilarious
My two favorite film references in this movie is at 33:47 which pays an homage to the original Planet of the Apes film from 1968 and at 37:36 which pays an homage to the 1999 best picture winning film, American Beauty and even the score by Thomas Newman plays in that scene.
I love the Planet of the Apes reference and the one of Twilight Zone! The cookbook.
@@develtedeltukeilachi oh yeah I just notice the twilight zone cookbook reference while watching this video lol
@@dylandaly2002 XD And Madagascar 2 has another one, but is more evident because the referenced episode is more popular. The scene of the plane, you probably know that one.
You're going to love the second one, Nick! It's so great! My dad loves the penguins and King Julien and always laughs a lot at the scenes involving them
I really enjoyed this reaction. It was nice to see someone watching it for the first time and reacting so genuinely because I've seen it so many times that I don't feel a whole lot anymore, but seeing you feeling for the characters brought the emotions back to the surface.
I think this movie was ahead of its time. It's not perfect, but the character designs are so shapely and unique, and the animation is so cartoony in almost a 2D way.
The second movie is good but I think the first is better. The third one is great though. My favorite or at least on par with the first one. Since it's newer the animation is really great and the fur on the characters looks so soft. Can't wait to see your reactions to this series!
Some fun animal facts for you:
- Lions, giraffes, hippopotamuses and zebras are all species found in Africa, which is why the people were sending them to Kenya. Madagascar is off the southern coast of Africa.
- A giraffe kick is powerful enough to crack a lion's skull.
- Hippos kill more people per year than lions.
- Male lions kill cubs that aren't their own.
- Fossa are the largest apex predators in Madagascar.
I'm excited for you to get to the second one ☺️
Don't forget, the lemurs who are only in Madagascar.
I'm born on this island myself but I grew up in France due to my adoption, but, we came back for me sisters'
@@a.g.demada5263 I was gonna mention that but then I got to thinking about Bush Babys (found on the continent of Africa) and the Aye-Aye (found in Asia) and I wasn't super sure if they were lemurs or not 😅 So I ommited it lol that's cool you're from Madagascar! I was also unsure whether or not there was human civilization on the island so that's really cool to know!
@@mwroach1251 yes, there's people on the island 🤭 I only saw the island when I returned for my sisters' adoption but I can say the landscape is really like in the movie. But you should see the sea : the water is transparent and turquoise.
Lemurs are very cute animals. If you want to feed them, they take your hand with their paws for eating in it.
There's also an interesting animal in Madagascar : the gecko (even if I'm afraid of reptiles)
The scene where Mort bawls his eyes out cracks me up every time. 😹
13:47 I found out much later that this is a reference to Saturday Night Fever
Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman are kind of the animal version of the show Friends 😅🤣 Me and my sister loved this Movie growing up 😍 We loved "I like to move it" in particular 😋
Especially since Melman is voiced by David Schwimmer, the actor for Ross

The style of this movie stands out so much even in its own trilogy. It's like stopmotion, which I adore :)
37:44 and THIS is a reference to American Beauty

This is one of my favourites childhood Dreamwork movies! They did a great job with the plot and the comedy too. I love all of the trilogies since they manage to keep the comedic/serious tone to it. I also love the way they write the characters and the dialogue for them it is just hilarious, mostly the penguins, they're my favourite characters. I recommend you to watch Penguins of Madagascar! They got their movies and it has the same comedic/serious tone to it, but still leaning towards the serious tone more. Love your reaction, Nick! Also, Fossa is a real animal that is closely related to the mongoose family.

Agreed.
There's a reason why this film got two sequels, a Christmas special, a spin-off TV series, and a spin-off movie.

Madagascar was a big part of my childhood! I remember having so much fun with the Madagascar game on PS2!
Nick, thanks so much for getting started on the Madagascar movie franchise! I would say that the first, and third films are my favorites of the three, but I still like the second film too. Anyway, I loved so many of the jokes, especially the hell one, or “Darn you all to heck!” And yeah, the characters overall were fun too. Honestly, though not quite having the same magic as say Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, or even How To Train Your Dragon, I’m glad that Madagascar has been popular since the beginning of it’s release. Oh, though this film may look like a little kid’s film on the surface, Madagascar serves as a great example of why films like it can have things for all ages, kids, teens, and adults, to enjoy, you know? Well, great reaction once again!
There are 3 main Madagascar movies but the penguins got their own spinoff movie
This one I’ve been eager to see your reaction to. : )
3:36 Well, you gotta remember, these guys had never left the zoo before, and since Alex is the star, of course all Marty's gifts would be Alex-themed. Though, I will say, I thought the same thing when I first watched this movie. XD
